Was originally gonna post all the 2017 signees recruits in this thread, then I just decided to do all Sexton highlights. May change it to highlights of all 6 players later on. Hope y'all like it.

Update: Added Petty's highlights

I do not follow basketball recruiting so maybe one of you gentlemen can help the uneducated. In highschool football bigger and faster athletes , even 2 and 3 stars dominate average high school players. What makes these 2 guys different from others who dominate the competition that aren't highly ranked? Also do 5 star roundball athletes work out at high rate like their gridiron counterparts? In essence, are we really getting 2 superbeast players next year?

I'm more of a football guy and used to follow football recruiting a lot. Recently though I've become so confident that Saban will get the job done recruiting, I've started to follow basketball recruiting more.

In basketball the majority of your ranking comes from what you do in AAU ball and the summer circuit. In those, particularly the summer circuit, guys aren't playing overmatched opponents. They're playing against guys who are going to play college ball.

Sexton dominated the Nike Summer League, EYBL. He led it in points by 10 points per game. Also, he led U17 team USA in scoring at the FIBA world championship in route to a gold medal. Both of those tournament are littered with future NBA stars.

I'm not sure about Petty's stats, but to get his rating he has to have showed greatness against top competition too.

I'm not sure it's true in all cases, but from all reports Sexton is a gym rat. The guy is in the gym early in morning and hours before games. Petty is considered a hard worker too, and he's been motivated by not getting invited to the McDonald's All American game. Petty also won three straight titles in high school for Jemison in Huntsville, so he's a winner.

We're getting two great talents in these two. Will they dominate immediately? I don't know, but like Fox showed us yesterday, freshmen can take over in CBB. I expect Sexton to be better than Fox. He can get to rim just as well and shoots better. Petty might take longer to develop, but he's a stud and I bet we'll know it before next year is finished. The other three recruits have potential but are projects.

Because Jemison High (Petty) and Pebblebrook (Sexton) played tough in state competition as well as a national schedule that featured other elite players in the country.
And they also played 5 or 6 years of AAU basketball that travels the country playing with and against those elite players.

It takes A LOT of exposure and a lot of good basketball on the national circuit to be as ranked high as Petty and Sexton

It hurts more too seeing the Hogs get their arse kicked. I know Arkansas isn't a good matchup for us because they force turnovers, but we were playing well enough in Nashville to beat them.

I'm telling you now, if Collin looks at Bruce Pearl when we're playing at Auburn next year and says "You're trash!" I will absolutely lose it

I think its a mixture of their skills and athletic ability. In basketball the most skilled players aren't the higher rated guys all the time because they don't have the physical skills. I would say we are getting one superbeast player and one really good player who could be a superbeast by the end of the year. Also think Herb Jones will be really good. As well as the center from Miss. Not as high on Reese after seeing him play.

I watched Petty in the semifinals against Sylacauga(where Im from) and I think Year 2 is when he is gonna be unbelievable, but I still think will be very good as a Freshman and probably freshman All-SEC. I honestly think Sexton is a Wooden candidate next year and will be 1 and done.

He was reaching for the other team hands after making his FT. haha Looks like he knows how to use mind games to his advantage.

His fav player is Kobe.

Not quite, he is so good at free-throws that his coach sends the other 4 players back on defense, and he mimics giving his teammates high fives after the first free-throw.

Read in an interview he hopes CAG let's him do the same thing at Bama. If he shoots 98% from the line in college like he does in high-school then I'm all for it.

When the talk of Sexton coming to Bama first started, I watched a video or two of him. I was impressed, but not blown away. He seemed like an undersized, good-shooting guard. But, as the months went on, I watched more and more of him. First of all, he's not as undersized as I originally thought. And, he can get up and throw down some nasty dunks. But, the guy is an all-around player with a true killer instinct. He's VERY competitive and puts in a ton of work.

He can really shoot from anywhere on the court. He's super quick with great handling skills. And he can finish at the rim with the best of them. The guy is practically unguardable.

All that said, there will be some growing pains in college. But, he's really going to help this team score. His play will make it easier on the other guys.

Would love to get multiple years out of him, but even if he is 1 and done it's worth it to get him. If he produces and Alabama gets in the tournament and makes some noise, he will have put Bama Avery on the map as a viable option for more of these guys. The elite teams seem to have have a 1 and done guy about every year (or in the case of UK multiple 1 and done guys every year).
