You are normally full of homerisms but this is dead on.

Landon Collins is having to play safety net because we are getting terrible play from the rest of our secondary. He is spread so thin that its actually fairly easy to exploit him at this point if you game plan around it. I would bet that the percentage of the field that he has been responsible for this year is probably the size of 3 normal player's zones.

I agree and disagree here Kap. Landon is not a natural cover-type safety from an instinctual standpoint. Those would be your Rashad Johnson's and HaHa Clinton-Dix's of the world. Landon is definitely talented enough physically to be a force in coverage, but he also doesnt have the game reps to truly develop that aspect of his game.

Last season we had Landon step in for Vinnie and HaHa (different roles in the secondary) at various points in the season, but he started the season at Money, which is still his best position in the defense because its where he is most comfortable. The weakness in the secondary forces us to use him as a coverage safety, but he is not being asked to do anything that HaHa or Robert Lester or Rashad was asked to do in the same role in previous seasons. He just hasnt had the luxury that those guys had of being a specialist.

On one of the TD's Saturday he got caught looking in the backfield and took a step towards the LOS, instead of getting deep... inexperience!

Not really. Often it's a way of figuring out that someone is trolling as an alter from another fanbase.

A unique phenomenon among message-board participants is that they gradually come to believe that they are the only true fans of any given team. Anyone who is new, and doesn't immediately acquiesce to the real fan's ideals and ideas and join in lockstep with their stale and mundane repeats of things said ten thousand times, is labeled a troll or an alter. More times than not, it's an ignorant assumption made by alarmists.

I have not degraded or insulted Alabama, only the ridiculous participants here, such as yourself, that believe they know best which players to play and when to play them.

You keep imagining, on your insular LSU site Bama board, that everyone else is a newbie to Alabama football message boards and couldn't possibly understand the very, very high level of discourse that is occurring here with only a few posts under their belt. Just for good measure, ensure all other posters here that you have a tally count of all current Alabama fans and will let them know if each new poster is indeed a Bama fan or not.

That will work out well for you.

If you don't want to hear criticism and opinions about the coach/players, perhaps this isn't the right place for you. Maybe Tidefans will better suit your reading preference.

We will praise CNS during the times when he does things well. We will criticize when there are things we disagree with that don't turn out well. He makes 7 million dollars and probably can handle some criticism. I'm sure he doesn't need you to white knight for him.

You will not impress anyone here with that pontification drivel. I do like the Lotus123 moniker though.

I see, so you are saying that you wish to have carte blanche to say whatever you wish with no counter viewpoints because that is the way it is here.

Only one voice for the whole on this LSU site, I suppose? You are free to say what you wish but no rebuttals or ridicule of your viewpoints because, well, that's just the way it is here?

That is real open-minded. How about I keep suggesting that it's infantile, after a loss, to try to make yourself appear as if you have all the answers, only if someone would listen to you.

A petulant child doesn't always have all the answers just because he thinks he already knows everything about the universe and all it entails.

I just find it really amusing how it's all been figured out by a couple of posters here. I mean, they know why Alabama lost and they could do something about it if only given a chance.

I guess it's amusing, in a sad way, because the University could probably get by with paying one of them about a hundred thousand a year and might actually have better results.

I don't have it figured out except that we are awful at tackling right now and just lack the physicality of recent teams. That said, and just an impression, this defense may be too complicated for the current players. Simplify it and get the best players on the field.

I'm just wondering what your ideal message board discussion would look like. Would it include twenty-five different ways to say "Coach knows best" "Trust Coach" "We have the best coach ever" etc.

Clearly all three of those are true, but he isn't perfect, as evidenced by his current 4-3 in the last seven games. Haven't you ever dealt in hypotheticals? If I were the CEO of the company, I'd do _____. If I were president, I'd do ________. That is what message boards are about. They are dealing in hypotheticals and discussing problems as well as our solutions to the problems. Of course we know neither CNS nor anyone relevant to the football program will ever read this post or your posts for that matter. This is a place to vent about what we've seen and how we'd do things differently. A place to rant, if you will. Thus the name SECRANT.

I did, Mrs. Free Shoes, like over a decade or so ago. I believe I remember you too. It's a small football world.

Of course not, Chattanooga. That's your perception of me only because I question the wisdom of Monday morning QB's who have virtually every answer to every problem. Of course, this is only after they have benifit of hindsight.

The title of this post is "Coaching lost this one". Why can't the team ever lose a game? And when I say team, I mean the coaches, the players, the assistants, etc...? Why can't a team just lose a game without it being a fault of someone or something else?

I mean, one side does have to lose, correct? Perhaps we just got beat because we got beat. I don't know the 10,000 different occurances that eventually led to this loss anymore than you do.

Bama was beaten at their own game:

OM out hit Bama.
OM won the turnover battle.
OM won Special Teams.
OM won in the trenches.

Gotta agree here.

They also did it without using the HUNH to offset talent level.
Hats off to Ole Miss, not much gimmicks in how they got the W.
Can't win them all , and 1 or 2 more losses wont surprise me. The west is BRUTAL.

Which really concerns me. For all of the hoolah about the 4th Quarter, (Holding up 4 fingers. The fourth quarter program, etc.) we've really sucked it up in our last three losses. You're not a 4th Quarter team when you get outscored 42-14 in your last three games against ranked opponents. That really speaks to lack of a killer instinct that we seem to have at the moment.
