Man I'm going to be pretty darn disappointed if Stoutland doesn't come. I got my hope up way too much, especially considering he originally left Bama for the NFL

The kissing the butt of 16-18 year olds really bothers you . I'm sure Saban allows his coaches to take breaks from the teenage arse kissing to have lunch .

I wonder if Brent Key could be in play to come back.

He basically made a lateral move to GT. So either Saban "encouraged" him to go elsewhere, or Key really wanted to go back to his alma mater. Either way, I'd be shocked to see him back at Bama.

Whoever we get I hope we go with the better OL teacher route over the better recruiter route.

I don’t know what happened with Key to Tech but he was a coach that Saban really wanted several times over the years. His time at Alabama was solid but more for his recruiting than OL development. I wouldn’t be disappointed if he came back, but also not my first choice.

I think I agree with this if I can't have a guy that excels at both.

Stoutland may end up staying in the NFL.

Just read this.

Despite reports Jeff Stoutland will not be coming back to Bama. I think we will still see an NFL experienced line coach though

Yea, but who knows how legit that is or if he has serious interest. But could be similar to BoB that he's decided he wants to be a college coach again and this is a jumping off point.

Relative to what Syracuse has been the last 20 years he had a pretty good 3 year stretch before he left for Buffalo.

Georgia defensive coordinator Dan Lanning a favorite to take same job at Texas under Steve Sarkisian (CBS)

Dawgs247's Rusty Mansell:

Talked with many sources over the last few hours, also spoke with Chip Brown (BIG TIME connected in that market too). Texas is making a big play for Dan Lanning and two sources I have spoke to in the last hour believe he is going to take it and it would be a BIG RAISE for him. Nothing official but I am leaning right now that he will take the job.

He was the OL coach at Georgia Tech when O’Brien was there as an assistant.

So if Lanning is staying for more money and clear #1 guy......does that mean Schumann might be open to a move?

Watch sark turn to Schumann now. So many Alabama ties on his staff already that know Schumann when he was at Alabama.

They were at Tech together for 5 years (1995-2000) under O'Leary

Ok, now this is making some sense

OBrien/Marronne face off, renew long friendship

quote:

"You'd always see those two together on campus," said Burns. "Out of the whole coaching staff, I think those two were probably the closest because they worked together all the time. Really dear friends."

"He is one of my closest friends," said O'Brien of Marrone. "He's a guy that helped me really break into this profession at Georgia Tech. We carpooled to work together."

I expect the OL coach to have some sort of tie like this. The OC and OL coach are critical and I expect O’Brien wants a lot of input there.

I’ve poured over connections and Key and Marrone make a lot of sense to me.
