Not for long

We desperately need big DE/DT types who can make a difference, not projects/guys who will need 2-3 years before they’re ready. Next year, we’re gonna be in a world of hurt without that.
There are seldom more than 2-3 good, proven DTs in the portal and they won’t be cheap but holy crap, we need at least one and probably two good ones for next year.

Why were you forced to start a new recruiting thread?
That's so fricking stupid.

Steve Wiltfong put in a RPM for us to land Class of 2027 IOL Jatori Williams from Central-Phenix City.

Yes, but our big talent deficiency is at ILB. Our run defense isn’t terrible up the middle. Around the edges… different story. Our ILB room is seriously lacking talent if 0 and 10 are the best we got.

Haven’t seen/noticed enough of Caden Jones at ILB but I’ve been impressed by what I’ve seen from true freshman LB QB Reese. Very fast and physical guy. With some added good weight and lots and lots of reps in practice and some one on one coaching, I could see him being very good next Fall. His old man, Quentin was a good one for Auburn.
There’s also true freshmen Duke Johnson, Luke Metz, and Abduall Sanders.
There’s incoming 5 star LB Xavier Griffin and 3 star Zay Hall.
That’s 7 ILBs that are either on the roster now or will be. Surely to God, we can develop 3 out of those seven that’ll be ready to go next Fall.

I would expect us to be ULTRA picky on who we would add for the 2026 class... if we even take anyone else (other than we're still working Tamk Jones along with Miami just in case). Someone I trust posted that the staff already have 1-2 more committed than they initially planned to take out of HS. They supposedly wanted to hold more spots available for the portal than the past couple years with the intention of spending a LOT more this portal class.
While this wasn't mentioned, I would assume that the majority of the emphasis will be on DL/LB.

We had a few good ones in state last year. I think we want quick guys who can get up field but we need run stuffers.

I hope we can hold onto Garror. I don’t recall specific stats but I seem to recall he has put up “The Water Boy” stats in high school, e.g. 25 sacks in one season. Insane.

Idk if it was the trot or what.
Look forward to watching him.

If tweet fails to load, click here. Phillip Rivers' son is St. Michael's QB and he apparently had a huge game as well.
