Elite 11 Finals: Day 1 Top Performers

+ Jett Thomalla made big news earlier on Tuesday by flipping his commitment from Iowa State to Alabama. The native Nebraskan is one of the bigger-framed passers in attendance and showed a good arm on Tuesday. Others were more consistent, but we liked the velocity and loose arm action.

Recruiting Rumor Mill: Latest chatter from huge June visits
quote:
Nick Abrams II
Alabama linebackers coach Chuck Morrell had a detailed plan from the second Abrams stepped in the door over the weekend in Tuscaloosa and it was the best visit he’s been on through his recruitment. The four-star linebacker from Owings Mills (Md.) McDonogh isn’t giving away any hints and still says each of his finalists – Alabama, Georgia, Michigan and Oregon – have a 25 percent chance of landing him.
But the Crimson Tide, from the staff to the players to the development, made a big impression on him and that could help as decision gets draws near.

The No. 1 running back from Jackson, Ala., had an excellent visit to Auburn over the weekend where he learned new things about the offensive scheme and how they use running backs in the passing game but it still might not be enough.
Alabama has led for a long time and it still feels like the Crimson Tide are edging out others in his recruitment.

Looks like we want 2 QBs in this class after all:

Alabama was trending up in a big way for Ponatoski, however the Crimson Tide landed another four-star in Elite 11 Finalists Jett Thomalla on Tuesday. Ponatoski heard from the Alabama staff and the Crimson Tide are positioning to take two. That keeps them in the mix.

Wow how innovative! They pass the ball to the running back? Holy shite, why aren’t other teams doing this?
Not sure how he can turn down AU after this

I thought DeBoer was an offensive genius. Why didn’t he think of that?

Another funny thing is AU really hasn’t used their RBs in the passing game all that much. Their top RB each of the last 3 years has had between 17-21 receptions all year
But it’s just like how Freeze manages to recruit WRs well even though his teams haven’t produced NFL caliber guys (AJ Brown and DK Metcalf only played their freshman year with him) in his scheme.

It's not impossible to pull a kid out of Ohio away from OSU but it's kind of rare. Love 'em or hate 'em, OSU does a good job of keeping those Ohio kids that the want, home.

Yeah. It’s a weird place in that they’re the only game in town. It’s wild to me that in a state where the pro football HOF is and Paul Brown was born and bred that they have 0 competition for in state talent.
OSU and UGA really have no excuse. Talent rich states with 0 in state competition.
