Coach Linguist is certainly earning his paycheck. I feel pretty good about our secondary recruiting at the moment.

Wish I had the same feeling for DLs

So let me ask you a question: Who get the credit for transforming Overton from a guy who did nothing in his time at A&M to a possible late 1st round pick in one season?

I am not necessarily propping up CFR here, but when are we going to cast some blame on the previous regime being almost wholly unable to acquire any difference-makers on the DL last several years? There hasn't been a Dareus, Allen, Payne or even a Barmore level player there in years.

Freddie is literally a holdover from the last regime. Who do you think recruited those guys? And let's not act like they're a bunch of 3 star projects. They're all blue chip prospects. Pierre, Smith, Keeley were all 5 star prospects. He's done jack shite with them. Overton is the 1st potential 1st round pick we've had in years and even he's iffy because his production dipped towards the end of the season.

Pierre is not even coached by Roach. Keeley changed positions during the season. And Smith has the same trajectory as guys like Jon Allen. He’s still only a sophomore who had his first significant playing time. Overton was banged up the last month of the season. The answer is not always to fire every position coach.

As the primary recruiter, Roach has brought in exactly 0 Dlineman that would be considered an SEC starter caliber player.

You don’t consider Kevonte Henry SEC caliber? What about Kelby Collins if he signs in this portal cycle?

Henry is an absolute freak show. There's no excuse for him to not be a really good SEC player outside of injuries or something strange.

Collins was on the All-SEC freshman team in 2023.

What did Collins do this year? Also Roach wasn’t the recruiter of Henry.

He was banged up and had a position coach change among other things. Hence why he’s in the portal.

Roach was the primary recruiter for Henry.

With all the accolades K Henry has had from Alabama faithful, did he really have just 5 offers?

Why does Roach get the blame for not landing any studs on the DL? Do you think it was Roach or Saban being the primary evaluator and closer for ANY prospects signed since 2007?

Lots of history revision and scapegoating going on here.

We've landed plenty of studs on the d-line. Roach just hasn't developed any of them. Damon Payne was a beast in high school and the 24th overall player in the class. He's just one of many examples of stud prospects that aren't any better than when they enrolled. That's on the position coach.

Here's the biggest red flag to me on Roach. We've had several highly touted freshman in his tenure who have come in and contributed immediately. And then next season the previews of the defense say so and so flashed at times during his freshman season and predict them to become an impact player on the d-line. But they don't. The stagnate and don't develop any further.

Hope we can land both these guys. I was hoping LT Overton would come back but I guess he played himself into the draft. Sounds like we are going to have a hard time field a Dline next year? Much less have sufficient depth to make a run.

I remember the days when this board wanted to run Karl Dunbar out of town who is one of the best position coaches of the Saban era because he didn't want to drive in the rain on the interstate to watch a 3* recruit that left Florida after his freshman year. I don't even remember the kids name. God damn we are spoiled.
