If Julio Jones wants Thompson at Bama, that’s where he’ll go

Why? Because they're both from Foley? I don't think there's any connection between them other than that. I think part of the reason he flipped is the constant comparisons to Julio and not wanting to hear it for 3-4 more years. That's a hype he'd never live up to.

Entering his senior season at Foley High School near Mobile — the alma mater of Alabama legend and NFL superstar Julio Jones — Thompson said carving his own path played into his decision: "The Julio Jones (thing), it's not a bad comparison, but at the same time I just want to be Perry Thompson."

I think I'll listen to what Thompson actually said but congratulations on happening to live near him I guess.

Walker White? You can’t be serious. Go watch Julian Sayin highlights then go watch JuJu Lewis highlights who has already visited Bama more that 6 times…you made me mad saying that BS

Former hc at foley (Todd Watson) and Julio’s hs coach is now special assistant to coach Saban. Deric Scott, coach at foley worked as assistant to Watson at Foley for years. Kid loves attention and is a little bit of drama Queen and is caught up in the moment, but if you think he admires hugh sleeze more than the afore mentioned, don’t know what to tell you. Stay tuned to early signing period in December. Your’re welcome!

Perry doesn’t even remember what he said yesterday. The kid lives in the moment…I’m not saying he won’t end up at Auburn but if Malik Benson and the rest of the group balls out like I think they will and awbarn loses to Cal and Texas A&M then gets bent over by UGA again at home. I think he might start rethinking things

Thompson was quoted by On3 saying this today:
quote:

“I know (Nick Saban) specializes with DBs and my main position is receiver. And Hugh Freeze has got a background of developing receivers at a higher level.”

He's clearly just making up reasons at this point because he can't just come out and say Freeze offered me a massive bag and I took it. When recruits start playing games like this Saban usually looks elsewhere.

Bama has had eight first round receivers under Saban and a Heisman winning receiver. What has Freeze done with receivers that comes close to that?

A couple second round picks that played most of their college careers under a different head coach after he was fired for being a hypocrite.

The KJ Bolden recruitment sounds bizarre... to say the least. Now there are rumors that it's an FSU-Barn final decision coming with him going to the highest bidder.

That could be nonsense, but it has been the wishy-washiest sounding recruitment that I've seen this year so far. It's the Wild Wils West now, so anything is possible.

247 is reporting we didn't make Bolden's final four.

What do you think the best site is these days to track our top targets?

Is it 247's Alabama 2024 Football Prospects, On3's 2024 Alabama Football Expert Predictions, or some other site?

BOL guys said yesterday that they didn’t expect him to choose Alabama.

Moving forward I don't think we'll be in many top 4's if the kid is truly just looking for the biggest bag. Not because we can't afford it but because Saban doesn't seem to like recruits who make demands. And that goes way back with Saban. Think about Nkemdice recruitment. He supposedly wanted scholarships for his teammates in addition to his and Saban said no thanks.

I wouldn't trust anything from 247 now that Lucky has poached all of their talent.

ETA: I didn't see their statement on Bolden personally. Someone mentioned it over at BOL.

I have as well all my life and Julio ain't got dick to say in this. The kid was sold a bill of goods by a used car salesman and he and his family bought it hook line and sinker and pocketed the dough. It is what it is.

I know noting of this kid but I do know that when an Auburn or other middle to upper tier SEC school gets depleted during a coaching change. the following year or two that school draws in splash recruits because they are told they can play now, which is probably true. It tends to cool off after a year or two and in the end it's more about what the new coach does with those guys than who he gets. Freeze is a good offensive coach but his shtick is nothing new any more and his greatest success came when HE was playing players and no one else was. Now everybody pays players and all he can do is try to match. I'm not saying he won't win at Auburn, I think he will do fine but it's a stretch to see him being much better than he was at Ole Miss.

Auburn is a much better job than Ole Miss. Hugh Freeze could never build the DL depth to beat LSU. At Auburn he will have every opportunity to build an elite program and not just a good program.
