IKR if it's all about the environment he could have just went to USC, the kid is from California . As if going to Miami is gonna be an experience he isn't used to

Kelly is a dang good recruiter and has some really good relationships that will take time for others to make up for. Giving him credit for Cormani is funny though, kid went to Colorado because of one dude.

If he decides to play football over baseball I think Rees would give us a great chance to land him. He can sell him on starting day one and Rees loves to use TEs.

Why would he delay his decision when the MLB draft is in June? He has until April to sign the letter with a school. It doesn't make sense.

Sounds like he hasn't decided on schools...

He doesn't have too. JTT didn't commit to Ohio State until July in 2021 and didn't sign an NLI. Unless rules have changed all he has to do is have aid papers signed and enroll.

Sounds more to me like he hasn't decided on going to college vs. playing pro baseball. Dude has been on multiple OVs and has had every major program in the country after him, so if he hasn't been sold on any of them I'd say it's likely that he isn't sold on college in general.

I'm not sure what you are saying here. He doesn't have to sign an NLI to get a scholarship or to qualify to play for fall. As long as the school is willing to give him a scholarship he is fine he can push it as far as he wants. The NLI is only a promise that the school will provide you a year in aid and the recruiting process stops.

The other piece is that even if he was signing an NLI it would probably be for baseball and he would have to August 1st to do that.

He commits to us when we have an OC that barely features a TE and decommits when we hire one wanting to utilize his position more prominently.

ETA:

Alabama recruited the 6-foot-3, 241-pounder as a tight end, but is not likely to continue pursuing the Georgia native at this point in time.

Hmmm. Wonder why?

It was indeed odd. Neither of his primary recruiters left either. Wolford and Cox were assigned to him.

Possible that Rees already has input on TE targets for 2024?
