Could be that Clay doesn't want the hassle from the student body (pro Bama students that is) until he signs with UGA. Should be a big deal for Kirby and staff to pickoff the top rated player from Alabama with Nick Saban as the HC. Prepare to read that time and time again.

- No specific coaches named, but someone is visiting Deondrick Glass and Justin Eboigbe.

It sounds like Taulia won't be able to play in the AL/MS All-Star Game on the 17th due to his shoulder injury. I wonder if they will add Paul Tyson to the roster? He should have been on it to begin with.

WEbb Summary:
Is he ready now? If decision day was today (December 6), would he be ready to announce? Webb said he would not be.

“December 10 is when I am committing, but I am thinking on December 8, I will let the colleges know if I am going to their school or not. I do not know for sure the school yet, but I will know in the next few days.

“I hope my decision will be black and white, not gray in the next few days. That is what I am working towards. I am still not ready today though. I am getting there.”

GEORGIA: “It is about coach Sam Pittman at Georgia. I love coach Pittman. We are very similar and it is kind of scary. We relate to each other.
ALABAMA: “I have a good relationship with coach Brent Key. I also know a lot of guys on the team and the recruits that are going there, so with Alabama, it is about relationships.”

“I will pray on it, think hard about my choices, and look ahead to see how my life would change at each school,” said Webb. “The schools I am considering are similar, some more similar than others, while each school may have their little differences too.

“It is not an easy decision. I am going over every scenario for each college. I have a lot of praying to do.

“The stress of talking to colleges and having to turn them down has been the toughest thing for me. That is not going to be easy. I have built some great relationships, but I am going to have to tell three schools no.

Each finalist has recruited Webb as hard as they could. Working hard over the phones, getting him on campus as much as possible and getting in front of him as much as they could the last two-plus years, but the end is right around the corner.

Only one school has black and white and it’s not Bama. It’s over.

Rival Summary, Bone on Locksley:
he may be on the verge adding Elijah Brooks, the head coach at DeMatha Catholic, as the running backs coach at Maryland.

Alabama has one current commitment from DeMatha, DeMarrco Hellams, which I think will have a major impact on his recruitment. Hellams has not responded to reporters about Locksley taking the job. I believe if Coach Brooks gets the job we might see Hellams and possibly Keilan Robinson flip their commitment to the Terps.

Although Hellams hasn't responded to Rivals reporters, he responded to Hank South (BOL). Hellams made it crystal clear that he is signing with Bama on Dec 19.

Hiring Brooks may change that

Hellams said nothing can change it. He was extremely adamant about it. He did not mince words at all. He said he doesn't expect Locksley to even ask him to consider Maryland because Locksley knows that ain't gonna happen. 100% committed.

I think it's fairly likely Keilan Robinson may flip to Maryland.

Zero chance Hellams, Shane Lee or Dalcourt will waiver from their Bama commitment.

Only time will tell. Brooks carries a lot of clout in that state

I mean, no big-time Oxford players ever come to Alabama, so I don't think that's really a big deal. I'd imagine in that area of the state there are a TON of Auburn and Georgia fans in the student body as well.

If we were to lose Hellams maybe we can swipe in and take Battle in the wake of Urbs stepping down. If Hellams doesn't sign in the early period I think we can consider him gone. So the good news is we will know fairly soon.

I kind of wonder if Robinson decommits what we will do at the RB spot. Will we take two at that spot regardless? Seems like we'd want to in the event that Jacobs leaves. That's a spot where injuries can pile up quickly.

Five recruiting rivalries to follow over the next decade

quote:

With Urban Meyer’s decision to leave Ohio State, his recruiting rivalry with Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh is finished. But here are five major recruiting rivalries that should last for years to come in college football.

NICK SABAN VS. DABO SWINNEY VS. KIRBY SMART

If there’s such a thing as the Holy Trinity of recruiting battles, this would be it - and it’s not even close. These are three of the best coaches in the game, all three run programs that are national title contenders every season and they’re in the Southeast where cutthroat recruiting battles are an embraced way of life.

Dabo Swinney went into Alabama last recruiting cycle and stole five-star receiver Justyn Ross from the Crimson Tide, the first time since 2012 the top player in the state didn’t go to Alabama.

En route to the team recruiting title last cycle, Georgia and Alabama butted heads on a lot of top prospects and the Bulldogs edged the Crimson Tide out.

Saban has owned the recruiting championships - and the titles on the field - in recent years. Lots of top prospects especially in the Southeast will end up at Alabama, Georgia or Clemson. Rarely are not all three programs involved at some point.

Farrell’s take: This is as much about recruiting battles as it is about on-field battles, but Clemson has played Alabama in a few important games (understatement of the year) and Georgia has now become a serious challenger to the Tide. These teams butt heads a lot in recruiting and the battles are epic. Let’s not forget that Jake Fromm was a former Alabama commit that Kirby Smart flipped to Georgia. Hopefully we will see this recruiting battle, and important games on the field, from these three for a long time.

Hellams will sign with Bama on Dec 19.

Idk if Keilan Robinson will be in Bama's class. If not, I think Deondrick Glass or DJ Williams are the most likely to get that spot -- unless Saban is certain Jacobs is staying for 2019,

If Maryland hires Brooks, isn't there a NCAA rule that they cannot sign a player from his former high school for 2 years?

If that is the case, no worry here.

No.

Brooks would be an on-the-field coach. That rule only applies to support staff.
