Yea he is going to be good. Looked really athletic when he was on ESPN. Just wait until he gets bigger.

4-star DE Jaren Handy 6-5/278 MS hudl AU

Handy communicates with Coach Golding daily. He's still committed to Auburn but plans to take more visits and delay signing until February. The plan may be for an Iron Bowl UV and January OV.

Added Handy to Top Targets list.

I'd take him but contrary to the rankings, I believe that Byron Young is a better player and there are better players we are after/trying to get to flip, like Sopsher and Pickering.

I think Byron Young was/is above Jaren Handy on the DL board. It looks like Sopsher will be in our class and Pickering will stick with MSU. Bama might take another DL, depending on DL departures, space in the class, etc. It appears Handy and Ty Robinson are the top targets for that potential spot. I might be wrong, but with NT/DTs Dale, Sopsher and 2020 NT/DT commit Jayson Jones, I think Robinson and Handy (as versatile DLs) are ahead of NT Siaki Ika on the DL board.

ETA: Ty Robinson will OV for the Iron Bowl.

It is always nice to flip someone from Auburn.

I also think it would make more sense to go after another DE than a NT, especially since we're in better shape with more DT's than DE's in 2020, plus have Jones in the fold.

I think there's a chance that Wynn moves back to DE. Assuming that and Davis and Williams bolting for the NFL, our 2019 DL breakdown will be the following:

DE (6): LaBryan Ray (Jr.), Stephon Wynn (So.), Antonio Alfano (Fr.), Byron Young (Fr.), Justin Eboigbe (Fr.), Braylen Ingraham (Fr.)
DT (5): Tevita Musika (Sr.), Phidarian Mathis (rSo.), Christian Barmore (rFr.), Ishmael Sopsher (Fr.), D.J. Dale (Fr.)

I would like more DT types. IMO you can take Musika out of the equation bc I don’t think he is much of a force and Sopsher is far from a lock

Among Bama's uncommitted targets, Sopsher is one of the most likely to sign with Bama. But he isn't going to say much publicly to indicate that.

Bama's 3-man DL = 1 DT and 2 DEs. If we get Sopsher, our 2019 roster will be 4-deep at DT, not counting Musika. Also, Wynn can play DE and DT.

I know there are some fans who want Ika, but I don't think he's going to be a take unless we miss on Sopsher, which is very unlikely.

Based on the numbers we’re rolling into November with just a handful of spots left open and the December early signing period closing in, how are we going to fit the current commits and keep slots open for the late signers? Are we gonna have enough room??

At least one of our commits won't sign with us (Cheney). I'm sure there will be one or two more who leave as well.

We'll have plenty of room for the greatest class in history.

I don't know. I'm married and sometimes it is better than nothing.

That's my big concern with him as well. There's no question that he's got the talent, but if Coach Kool believes he can get him to be more engaged then I'm all for it. If Handy visits again, hopefully he can spend time with Isaiah Buggs and Quinnen Williams.

Jaren Handy is a Raekwon Davis fan and looks up to him.

Its like someone cold starting a lawnmower.

They give a few attempts, then you go over to crank it.

Coach Kool might not be here for long, we need to be right on as many Dlineman as possible and the leaders on the Dline are all leaving so there isn't an obvious person to keep him in check. Nothing personal, you never know if these things are true about kids, but I would vote pass.

I think Kugliowski is likely to stay long term. It's not 100% that Davis and Williams are leaving. Even if they do, Ray and Wynn can step up as leaders. And I trust Bama's staff to make the right calls on which guys to take or pass on. Bama's staff and current players deliver the message loud and clear to recruits that you have to work very hard at Bama. If Handy truly wants to be lazy, he won't be in this class -- either by his choice or Bama's.

You would trust the Alabama coaching staff's opinion over my completely unfounded armchair logic. I truly question your judgement.
