I could be wrong, it has been a while since his recruitment, but weren't there rumors about him assaulting a girl in high school? I know he had the investigation at FSU, but I thought the were concerns during his senior year. I could be thinking about someone else.

The are more then a few. Recruiting has become pure entertainment and has turned into a reality TV show. People get all caught up in what a recruit says or does not say.
For example if I am a UGA beat writer I am not going to ask a kid high on UA anything about UA. I am only going to ask about UGA and it pertaining to him. So the article is pro UGA but because it excluded other schools so their fans get worried.
I personally do not get upset about it but enjoy it better then the preseason magazine that would come out and we did not hear about the kid until he signed. But until they sign I really do not consider them committed. If a kid is truly committed and this is where he wants to go he will not be taking other visits. Yes I understand enjoy the process but no need to verbally commit if still enjoying it. Just causes more drama but then again that is what the sites want and makes them money.

I think you may be thinking of Eddie Lacey. I don't remember anything like that about Winston in HS, but maybe there was.

Yeah it seemed Winston's issues started at FSU. I remember C Lemay having issues at HS.

Lacy was not accused of assaulting a girl in HS. That was the LSU RB Jeremy Hill.

Winston wasn't in any trouble for assaulting a girl in HS. I had heard from a really close friend that said he had gotten a girl pregnant and she was encouraged by a coach or two to have an abortion so it wouldn't ruin Jameis' career. His issue was one of entitlement. Saban didn't promise him baseball and our baseball facilities sucked arse at the time, while Fisher had Mike Martin going on the visits to see Jameis. FSU let him do what he wanted while Saban was going to have that control.

I googled it. I was thinking of Deon Johnson.

Was Johnson the receiver from Spanish Fort? That kid is a head case

Generally speaking Saban's recruiting strategy has worked. Saban has had to change his strategy on the field before, but I think last year was the first time it became evident he needs to tweak his recruiting strategy. The recruiting competition is better, the rules are being modified to help weaker recruiters and there is some Bama fatigue. Saban is still making adjustments but we know what the result will be in the end. He will have one of the top or the best recruiting class in the country. I just hope, as others have said, we don't leave the door open for the procrastinaters and miss on other guys.

In today's scheme i think we would take both Von Bell and Winston. Things have changed so much scheme wise for us it's crazy.

I think he just went with coaching over recruiting last year. Had the NFL guys to help develop the players more but they were n it really recruiting types

Yea that's him. Wasn't he in the news again for another sexual assault or something?

I think so. He had tons of talent, but he has some serious issues

LINK ]BREAKING: Former five-star LB headed to Alabama (BOL | embedded video)
Notes: Kaho is part of UA's 2018 signing class, counts against the last (25th) 2018 signee/initial counter spot and is immediately eligible. Kaho puts UA's 2018 roster at 83 scholarship players. UA moves up to #5 in the 2018 Class Rankings.

Brandon "Ale" Kaho is headed to Bama.
The former five-star linebacker from Reno, Nev., was released from his national letter of intent with Washington on Monday and a source close to the situation has informed 247Sports that Alabama will be the landing spot.
It is expected that Kaho, the No. 1-rated inside linebacker in the 2018 class according to the 247Sports rankings, will depart for Tuscaloosa as early as Wednesday night.
The 6-foot-1, 218-pound prospect was a longtime commit to Brigham Young during the recruiting process before flipping his commitment to the Huskies just prior to the early signing period last December.
He signed with Washington last year and arrived in Seattle this summer, but never enrolled while wrapping up required coursework. Huskies head coach Chris Petersen cited "personal reasons" for the release of the program's highest-rated incoming freshman.
The Crimson Tide were heavily involved in Kaho's recruitment last year and were considered to have finished in a runner-up position. While committed to BYU, Kaho tripped to Tuscaloosa to camp with Alabama and promptly landed a scholarship offer from head coach Nick Saban.
Kaho returned to town for an official visit to campus the weekend of Nov. 4 and saw the Crimson Tide earn a big victory against LSU. He gave the trip rave reviews. "On this official, the difference I saw was how dedicated the coaches are and how differently they do things, not only with football but with the academic aspect, too," Kaho told 247Sports following his visit to Alabama last year.
"They know what classes you're taking and what assignments are coming up. They are on it. The one thing I was looking for was the coaches being real with me and not sugar coating anything. They were 100 percent real with me. I loved everything they told me and everything they talked about with me and my family. It was better than I thought it would be.
"Coach (Nick) Saban told me he could see me (playing inside and outside), too, since I have the athleticism. That made me feel a lot better because it doesn't make me one-dimensional in their defense. I could go pass rush, I could work on my coverage or fill gaps in the middle if I have to -- it's wherever they would need me. It made me feel a lot better about Alabama from a football standpoint."
Alabama brought in only one other true inside linebacker, three-star prospect Jaylen Moody, in the 2018 class. Kaho was never enrolled at Washington, so he's eligible immediately, although it figures to take him some time to get acclimated to a college program.
Kaho was a U.S. Army All-American and Polynesian Bowl participant. He was the nation's No. 133 overall prospect in the 2018 class, according to the 247Sports Composite.
