I agree with you on JAD, he was committed forever it seemed and looked over. Question for out film gurus! Does Kayo seem like a 5 star ILB. He seems good but I can't tell

I mean, he WAS a 5-star ILB.

Seriously it's not even debatable. We made need to work on him mentally and get him back physically where he was but the talent and frame is still there.

Kevin Hagan on Bill King this morning said he is hearing Kaho will either enroll at USCw or Bama. He said it looks like Bama at this point. He put it conservatively at 70% and said he looks for Saban and Tosh to close this out ASAP.
I know this had been discussed and he might be wrong here, but he said Kaho would be immediately eligible this season.
Goes without saying, but he of course said it - Kaho would be an absolute homerun for the staff as a #1 recruit at the #1 position of need.
Relative to our team chemistry he indicated it was not impacted by the QB battle. He said the unquestioned leaders on offense (Harris) and defense (Jennings) have the team where they need to be and that at Bama almost every player is in or has been in a position battle so it's not that unusual of a situation for the team.
He remained oddly quiet relative to gay cowboys.

ETA: Damien Harris needs his own appreciation thread. He has been class throughout his time in Tuscaloosa.

LINK
He wasn’t a composite 5 Star and it wasn’t really close. He was a 94/95 average. Which is still a solid arse player. Just not 5 Star status.

Brandon Kaho's rankings:
247: 5*, #1 ILB, #21 player
Rivals: 4*, #8 OLB, #82 player
ESPN: 3*, #47 OLB, not in ESPN 300
Composite: 4*, #7 ILB, #133-player
ESPN was clueless about Kaho. Smh.

I believe Peterson and Walker where higher on the board then Kaho. Since Bama was in good shape with both of them in December, Kaho didn't have the green light to commit to Bama, so he signed with Washington.

Bingo. We slow played him trying to get 2 guys who punked us in the end. That scenario played out several times last cycle. Hopefully we have learned our lesson this time around and we don't hold spots for guys like Thibs, Dean and Sopsher who could easily go elsewhere. If they come aboard late and we have to shift things around in our class that's fine, but just don't get left holding the bag like we did last February.
Getting Kaho at this point would be huge. Even if he doesn't play this year, he could easily be a starter at ILB for several years starting in '19. Hopefully Tosh and Saban can close the deal with him this time.

Man I had the athletic ability the entire time. What got him the five star status is the way he looked at the all star game.

It's crazy how even people in here were saying just cut Walker loose based on his comments but coaches must've didn't care about those comments.

Someone on BOL said we got Kaho

There is a certain subset of folks who want to cut anybody loose immediately over any perceived transgression no matter how minor unless they think it will cost us wins.

That's probably true, but with Quay Walker it was obvious to anyone listening and watching that he wasn't coming to Alabama for at least a couple of months before NSD. Our staff should have cut their losses with Walker and signed Kaho. Live and learn.

We did this in the past as well. Played around chasing Gunner and he went elsewhere and saw probably the best QB in the state for many years go to FSU. Not sure Winston was ever going to come but we seem like every year we chase people and have other hold off only to see them go elsewhere and we are left empty handed. I would have taken V Bell the one year but instead he went to OSU.

It's a tough balance to strike because you don't want to fill up a class with your B-level guys and have no room for the A-level guys when they decide they want in. But at the same time if you push your best B-level guys away hoping for an A-level guy that never comes...you're stuck scrambling trying to get a C-level guy at the last minute. Now maybe some of those C-level guys work out (guys like Musika and Moody) but you'd much rather get a high level B player if you can. I don't think our staff has always done a great job with this balancing act, but last year we got screwed enough that hopefully some lessons were learned.

Winston was my last melt down in recruiting.

Winston is a complete idiot as a human being, but the fact that we didn't even recruit a future #1 pick right in our back yard until late in the process was almost unforgivable.
