LINK ]Alabama commit Jayson Jones clears misconception about Saban (BOL)

Nick Saban isn't the moody, cantankerous 66-year-old man many believe him to be as the no-BS leader of Alabama Football's modern-day dynasty. In fact, he's quite the opposite according to Crimson Tide commit Jayson Jones, an elite defensive lineman rated as the top player in Alabama for the 2020 class, according to the 247Sports Composite.
Jones committed to Alabama on Monday over Georgia and several others and quickly wanted to shoot down any misconceptions about Saban on the recruiting trail.
“Nobody (on the outside) really gets to see his true personality. They’ve always shown that he’s really negative, a bad person, ‘Oh he doesn’t play you until your senior or he doesn’t play you at all.’ But all of that is false," Jones said during a recent interview with WBRC FOX 6. “He played the most freshmen last year and he’s going to do whatever it takes to win.
"The funny thing is me and him do talk a lot. Each time I’m down there, he loves talking to me, I love talking to him. He’s a great person, which is so important because if you can’t connect with… especially your teammates and your coaches, than you are going to have a bad experience.”

The lack of early playing time at Alabama is often a negative recruiting tactic used by opposing coaches, citing the program's depth and returning players already firmly entrenched on the depth chart. And the notion that Saban is borderline unapproachable is simply false, Jones says.
Jones, a brute 6-foot-5, 322-pound force at the line of scrimmage, told BamaOnLine choosing the Crimson Tide was a no-brainer after visiting campus and meeting with Saban and players.
“I already have a connection with the teammates, it’s a great school, Saban loves me and I love him,” Jones said. “What stands out to me the most about Alabama is Nick Saban himself, anytime I’m on a visit, stops in his tracks and talks to me. That makes me feel like he wants me. That makes me feel special.”
Jones is commitment No. 5 in the Tide’s 2020 class, which, like the 2019 group, has picked up momentum this spring. Along with long-time pledge Javier Morton, four-star inside ‘backer Jackson Bratton of Muscle Shoals (Ala.) committed to start things off in March. In April, the state’s top wideout in Dazalin Worsham of Hewitt-Trussville committed to Alabama. Last week, three-star signal caller Carson Beck joined the Tide’s class after flipping his commitment from Florida baseball.
Overall, Alabama’s class ranks No. 2 in the nation, according to the 247Sports Composite Team Recruiting Rankings, behind Miami. For the first time since 2010, Alabama's signing class wasn't ranked No. 1 in February and actually finished outside the Top 5 for the first time in more than a decade.

I hope schools keep saying negative stuff, I really think it's just pissing Saban off and making him stay longer

Rashad Cheney
Cheney was the only three-star defensive lineman and the Alabama commit did look a tier below the rest of the talent in attendance. His size/athleticism combination is solid, but not to the level of the top guys in Atlanta and he struggled to win reps throughout the day. We did like his competitiveness, however, and willingness to keep getting after it.
Bruh, when I posted this days ago people got legit mad and wanted to meet me at Sonic's

Don't ask any reasonable questions when you get there. Just order your shake or Sonic Blast and keep an open mind.

Cheney won’t be in this class. Unfortunate for the the kid but does have other options. Staff needs to bite the bullet and go ahead and let him go.
