But on the recruiting front, how many more defensive lineman do we take? I know this board has speculated we will cut ties with Cheney. There are still a lot of linemen on the board that we are in a good position for, who do we take?

We need a massive and elite haul of DL this cycle. We are going to be really thin once Raekwon leaves early and Dwight graduates. I think we'll be down to 5-6 scholly DL. We need to be at double that, so bringing in 6 this cycle is critical.

We have 5 committed right now, and we can always ask Cheney to gray shirt if needed. So we have room for 2 more DL. Maybe 3 if we really want a huge DL haul. I say we take Sopsher, Tuitele and Ika and call it a day. Cheney can gray shirt if he wants to play for Bama badly. That'd be the best DL haul in history, wouldn't it?

The 2000 DL haul was pretty elite but we all know the circumstances they ended up being dealt.

Mac Tyler, Antwan Odom, and Albert Means were the five stars in that group. Several other four stars too.

That would definitely be a great haul.

Also, if we could flip Neal from A&M. That would be an insane class.

We will have 6 returning DL on scholarship in 2019: Musika, Williams, Ray, Mathis, Wynn, and Barmore.

So, yes, that's part of the reason why we're trying to sign 6 (maybe more) DL in this class. Also, I think the other part is because this cycle has an unusually high number of blue chip DL prospects, and the 2020 crop doesn't appear to be as strong (particularly at DE), so we might as well load up on as many as possible this year.

Assuming we sign 6 DL, we will have 12 DL on scholarship in 2019, which is ideal. Typically, you'd like no fewer than 11 due to depth purposes and being able to redshirt guys that aren't ready to play. Barmore would be a prime redshirt candidate, but because we only have 9 DL on scholarship this fall, he'll need to be ready to step in due to injury or garbage time. With 12 DL on scholarship in 2019, we'll likely only need to replace Musika (graduation) and potentially just one of Williams/Ray to the draft. With Jayson Jones already in the fold, we can afford to be EXTRA picky in the remaining 1-2 DL spots in the 2020 class. Luckily for us, we have the best DL coach in the country and the majority of the quality DL in 2020 are within a 4-5 hour radius.

I saw.

They are some stupid sons of bitches, aren't they?

ETA: At least this time the majority of them acknowledge that that dude is a moron based on the overwhelming number of downvotes.

What's sad is 6 other mouth breathers agreed with him.

We are killing it.

If Tuitele doesn't get in this class it's his fault for waiting too long.

Commitment Watch [ON] off

Tim Watts CBd John Metchie to Bama. Metchie had tweeted "Commitment coming real soon" on June 29. CBs heavily in favor of Bama. I asked Tim if Metchie definitely has a green light. "Yes."

ETA: Jahleel Billingsley is also on watch to commit at any time.

Can't handle the truth!

The vast majority of tourney money is won on PCs. Plus, I built my pc 6 years ago, in the ps3 and 360 era, paid a little more than fresh release console prices, yet it still massively outperforms PS4s and Xbones and can do a bunch of other cool shite besides playing games. Even the next gen consoles we get in a few years won't be able to hold a candle to my PC, and I only had to buy it once.

I suppose Cheney might get a greyshirt option, but I don't think he'll end up at Bama. I think Sopsher will be the 5th DL in the class. If Bama takes a 6th DL it'll likely be one of Leal, Pickering, Tuitele or Ika.

Maybe Bama will greyshirt 1 or 2 guys who'd likely be redshirts anyway, such as Bowles, Tyson, Reichard or Dale. Robinson might be a candidate too.
