McCallum is physical but he looks a lil slow IMO. Well compared to what we go after now. Man in state is loaded so many prospects I want we could sign seven or eight.

Is there a particular reason you put Ishmael on that list other than he is LSUs top prospect???

Because Sopsher is from Amite. Alabama has several players from Tangipahoa Parish. And a couple of staffers from there.

Several of the Tigahs on their boards have all but conceded Sopsher to us because he is from Amite. That is where the REC has our barber "bag man" I believe.

Pete Golding and Sam Petitto being from there is what will pay dividends for Alabama. Not some mythical, rogue barber.

Just posted this in AU thread but thought ya'll might get a kick out of it as well
quote:

Man LSU 247 mods sure do set their fanbase up for failure. Shea just released 2019 class prediction. Obviously this far out it won't be accurate so you would think might wanna buffer it a bit with the idea you might not get EVERYBODY you want. But that's not how LSU 247 rolls. Here's his class prediction (bolded players are current commits)

QB - 4* Grant Gunnell (#49 OVR)
RB - 4* Tyrion Davis (#196 OVR) 5* Noah Cain (#26 OVR), 4* John Emery Jr. (#66 OVR)
WR - 4* Devonta Lee (#47 OVR), 4* Trey Palmer (#87 OVR), 4* Jalen Curry (#88 OVR)
TE - 4* Ray Parker (#135 OVR)
OL - 5* Kardell Thomas (#20 OVR), 3* Thomas Perry (#384), 5* Kenyon Green (#12 OVR, former LSU Commit), 4* Javonne Shepherd (#279 OVR)
DL - 5* Ishmael Sopsher (#1 OVR), 3* Joseph Evans (#672 OVR), 4* Marcus Stripling (#108 OVR), 4* Eric Gregory (#244 OVR), 4* Nathan Pickering (#46 OVR)
LB: 5* Nakobe Dean (#22 OVR), 4* Donte Starks (#104 OVR)
DB: 4* Maurice Hampton (#121 OVR), 5* Derek Stingley (#18 OVR), 4* Devin Bush (#174), 4* Jamal Morris (#214 OVR), 4* Ishmael Burdine (#91 OVR)
K/P: 2 * Will Reichard (#3 K)
LS: 2* Quentin Skinner (#2 LS)
ATH: 4* Christian Harris (#255 OVR)

That class would currently have a score of 323.85 which is a higher score than UGA's 2018 class & would be one of the highest rated classes of all time....

Glad he's not setting them up for disappointment or anything

Basically LSU isn't gonna miss on a single prospect this next cycle

Sopsher should the the top priority on our board. Not at his position, on the whole board. He could come in and start day 1, and dominate for the next 3 years. Need to get that dude, make Golding and Tosh go camp in his front yard a night or two every week if need be.

Louisiana is loaded for 2019 so I can understand why they are climbing aboard the hype train early, but at the end of the day their program is still being run by a moron who is probably the least qualified HC at any P5 program.

Should make next years melt more epic than this years. Good thing they left 2 spots open like O planned.

Im sure they will land some good players but that class they predicted is just dumb. Other top programs will be all over that state especially us.

Contrary to what Sopsher says to the media, Bama's chances of landing him are very good.

Oh they will get their fair share for sure. I think Trey Palmer, Donte Starks & Ray Parker are all guys that are gonna land there. But the idea that not a single one of those elite LA kids will leave the state AND they will pull all the top prospects in MS AND land some of the top TX kids is a little insane

Not just that but they are coming off an 8-5 season with a brutal schedule in 2018. I don't see them beating AU, UGA or BAMA this year & I think MSST, A&M & MIA are all toss ups. No way you land the greatest class ever with a coach half fanbase wants gone & two 8 win seasons

Just seems kinda crazy to throw that out as the initial expectation for this class. I expect LSU to sign a very good recruiting class but they aren't signing the #1 class next cycle. Stuff like this is why they melt so hard come signing day

Would not surprise me at all to see Bama pull Sopsher, Lee & Emery. Very interested to see how hard Saban hits LA this cycle

Also very interested to watch the battles in MS. AU for the first time in a long time has made it a priority & have a guy in Marcus Woodson that recruits well in that state. Bama is always a force in MS when they wanna be and now you got 2 new head coaches at those schools too. Plus LSU not being too far away either. Gonna be a lot of fun battles in this next class in the southeast

Alabama recruiting question of the day: Biggest positions of need for Tide in 2019 class

quote:

Alabama finished seventh in the recruiting rankings in the 2018 class, but expect the Crimson Tide to be back on top come 2019. SEC Country’s Chris Kirschner will answer the Recruiting Question of the Day each weekday. You can ask him your questions on  Twitter or on Facebook. Find our previous questions and answers  here.

Nick Saban made it clear at his press conference wrapping up National Signing Day last Wednesday that Alabama would have liked to add at least one more quarterback, defensive lineman and linebacker. So, naturally, those will be areas of focus in the 2019 class.

Quarterback

It was always going to be tough for Alabama to sign a quarterback in the 2018 class because of the team’s young, talented depth chart. Expect the Tide to try to sign two quarterbacks in the 2019 class.

Thankfully for the Tide, there are two elite prospects in the state that have ties to the program in 4-star quarterbacks Paul Tyson and Taulia Tagovailoa. Tyson is the great-grandson of Bear Bryant and Taulia is Tua’s younger brother.
