Defensive line
In the 2018 class, Alabama signed only two defensive linemen, 4-stars Christian Barmore and Stephon Wynn Jr. The Tide missed on Bobby Brown, who flipped from the Tide to Texas A&M on National Signing Day and 4-star defensive end Malik Langham, who signed with Florida. This upcoming season will be the last for Isaiah Buggs and Johnny Dwight. Raekwon Davis has potential to be a first-round draft pick, so the Tide may lose him after this season, too.
Some Class of 2019 defensive line prospects to keep an eye on are:
Ishmael Sopsher, 5-star defensive tackle;
DJ Dale, 4-star defensive tackle;
Ani Izuchukwu, 4-star defensive end;
C.J. Clark, 4-star defensive tackle;
Nathan Pickering, 4-star defensive end;
Bill Norton, 4-star defensive end;
Travon Walker, 4-star defensive tackle.
Other names will emerge over the next few months as Alabama starts hosting junior days.

Linebacker
Alabama signed outside linebackers Eyabi Anoma, Jordan Davis and Cameron Latu in the 2018 class. Davis may grow into a defensive end. The Tide missed on JJ Peterson, who signed with Tennessee, and Quay Walker, who flipped to Georgia on National Signing Day. The Tide will lose Keith Holcombe after this season and Mack Wilson may declare for the NFL draft.
Several linebackers will be added this class, and Alabama already has a commitment from 4-star outside linebacker King Mwikuta. Some other targets to know in this class are:
Nakobe Dean, 5-star inside linebacker;
Owen Pappoe, 5-star outside linebacker;
Marcel Brooks, 4-star outside linebacker;
Vonta Bentley, 4-star inside linebacker.

Nolan Smith, 5-star DE, IMG Academy (Bradenton, FL) — Georgia commit
Nolan Smith has taken several visits to Tuscaloosa throughout his recruitment and is a giant priority for Alabama defensive coordinator Tosh Lupoi. However, it’s going to be tough for the Tide to flip Smith. He’s one of those players who’s from the state of Georgia and grew up wanting to play for the Bulldogs. Georgia coach Kirby Smart is going to lock down those kind of guys for the Dawgs.

Christopher Hinton, 5-star defensive end (Norcross, GA) — Michigan commit
Christopher Hinton is going to be another recruit who is going to be tough to flip. Hinton’s first offer was from Michigan, and he has stated how important academics are to him. It’s one of the biggest reasons why he ended up choosing the Wolverines. Alabama will have to try to tell Hinton that its school’s academics are on Michigan’s level to have any chance at flipping him from the Wolverines.

Akeem Dent, 5-star cornerback (West Palm Beach, FL) — Florida State commit
Nick Saban made it a point to visit Palm Beach Central last month to meet with Akeem Dent’s coach in the midst of trying to finish up the 2018 class. Dent, the nation’s No. 1 cornerback, is a giant priority for Alabama in the 2019 class.

Tyrion Davis, 4-star running back (Baton Rouge, LA) — LSU commit
Tyrion Davis told SEC Country that Alabama is his No. 2 school. Could an underwhelming season at LSU be enough to change his mind? He’s a former teammate of sophomore linebacker Chris Allen, but his current teammate, 5-star guard Kardell Thomas, is committed to LSU and locked in with the Tigers. Thomas and Davis are very close with each other and have expressed their desire to play together on the next level. Alabama lost its running back commitment when Trey Sanders de-committed in January. Davis has said that competition doesn’t scare him one bit.

George Pickens, 4-star wide receiver (Hoover, AL) — Auburn commit
George Pickens doesn’t have an Alabama offer yet, but he’ll likely receive one from the Crimson Tide at some point down the road. Pickens, a 6-foot-5 prospect, likely will be the Tide’s top big-bodied receiver target down the road. Alabama failed to sign a tall receiver in the 2018 class after in-state receiver Justyn Ross spurned the Tide on National Signing Day by choosing Clemson. It should be noted that Pickens’ former teammate, Shedrick Jackson, signed with the Tigers in the 2018 class.

Wasn't being a dickhead or nothing. I really wanted to know. They usually don't miss out on the best in state. Hope we get him.

What's the thought on Tyson and Little-Tua? Do we want to sign them both? If we have to choose, which way would our staff go? Do either of them have the talent to climb to 5-star status? Just curious about how all this plays out.

I think we sign one in state and one out. Hopefully lil Tua.

I agree. I'm just thinking how do we not sign the great-grandson of Bryant right in our back yard when he's considered a fairly elite prospect? Why not go with both in-state kids and forget the out of state kids? Is there someone else out there interested who is that much better than Tyson?

I wish Saban would try to get them both to openly commit ASAP so they can help recruit. From what I can tell Taulia is essentially Tua 2.0 and Tyson appears to be very talented too. Imo, we should grab them both ASAP and forget about other QB prospects.
ETA: Per Hank South (BOL) both are takes.

Is Tyson considered elite tho. I was more wishing. I think we take Tyson for sure but hope we take Tua. If there is an elite qb out there we will slow play the in state guys IMO. That's just what we do.

We can probably get away with slow playing Tyson, I would not dare do that with little Tua though. If he's ready to jump aboard, you let him IMO.

Both are considered Top 10 in the nation as a pro style QB, 6 and 8, with Lil Tua rated higher. I say take them both and then use both to recruit for you then redshirt 1 of them to get some separation between them.

2 QB are needed in this class. Lets get them on board.
Numbers are not a problem on the 19 class.
