This bothers me a lot. I know that negative recruiting goes on everywhere and I know that Saban is getting up there in age (even though he looks about 15 years younger than he is). And I know that this is likely one of the few things that opposing coaches can use to sow doubt in a kid’s mind when going up against Bama in recruiting.

But Saban is still at the top of his game and really shows no sign of slowing down. If I was coach, I’d want to beat the hell out of everyone we play this year. Just for telling kids crap like that.

I feel better now.

ETA: Alfano has gotten 5 more Bama CBs: 247 National Analyst, OSU, VT, BC, and OM mods.

Can never have too much versatility! Cheney, I believe, can be a DE but also put on weight to play nose. Wynn can play both, although I believe he's better suited at DE, and will be moved to DE next year when Sopsher and Tuitele join the squad. Tuitele is another guy who can play both DE and DT. Alfano can also play both, but I think he'll be better suited at DE.

Yeah. I've read that Sopsher is actually pretty versatile too. I think his big cheeks face leads people to assume he's limited to the tight inside tecniques. With Chochran and Kugliowski working them, they'll all become more versatile.

So... rumor tonight on a couple boards is that 7SU has offered Sopsher's Juco non-D1 prospect brother. Did I miss this from days ago, or is this news? If so, well that kind of stinks. A desperate move, but one that will probably work.

It does seem like a desperate ploy, but I doubt it'll work. I think it's more likely to backfire. After Ishmael Sopsher's brother signs with LSU, Ish can go wherever he wants. Just like the situation with Trey Sanders' brother, a non-D1 Juco that Mullen (UF) offered as a pwo. Trey isn't bound to follow his brother to UF.

ETA: I think it's safe to assume Petito and Saban are well aware of Ish's brother. Petito and Ish's dad played FB together and are good friends. I checked BOL's board and found nothing about Ish's brother. But I just found a segment about him in this recent article:

Why LSU remains in great spot with 5-star DL Ishmael Sopsher (SEC Country - LSU)
quote:

There’s another Sopsher that will play a key role, too.

Rodney Sopsher Jr., a 6-foot-2, 255-pound lineman from Amite High School, was on LSU’s board in 2017. An injury his senior season forced Rodney to take the junior college route, where he’s now at nearby SW Mississippi Community College in Summit, Miss. Orgeron, who served as LSU’s Tangipahoa Parish recruiter under Les Miles at the time, was recruiting both of the Sopsher brothers a few years ago.

That longstanding relationship with both brothers and the entire family is an X-factor to monitor.

“Family is going to play a big part in this,” Sopsher said. “My brother and I want to play together. You know, they [LSU] are not looking at him because of just me and who I am; they always liked him. He’s very versatile, very athletic and long, and I think he’s a good player.”

Well, I hope it doesn't.

To answer your question about Ga. recruits, I'll try to find the list later. A few names I remember were Eboigbe, Blaylock (WR committed to UGa), Booth, Deloach (or something like that... a LB), Steele Chambers (committed to Ohio State), Travon Walker.

I expect us to make runs at a few of those guys. Not sure where all of them fit on the board. I do know, though, that the staff is really high on Booth and Walker (not surprisingly, as they're both 5* types). I've heard some specifics on Booth that I shouldn't post on a public board, but be assured there are some interesting dynamics in play there. Bama has a decent shot based on what I've heard with him. Have heard nothing specific on the other guys, though.

Thanks. I really like Eboigbe, but I heard via a good UGA "insider" that he's likely a Dawg now. Tho he was really liking Bama after he visited in Feb. We've had all those guys except Blaylock and Walker on our Top Targets list in the past. A while back Hank told me UA likes Chambers as a LB. I wonder if it's RB now. Andtew Booth would be a great get. I want Daxton Hill too.

I'd offer a walk on spot for a better chance at an elite instate RB.

You gave up just a preferred spot and can force him out if you don't land Trey...

Trey Sander's brother is finishing Juco and able to transfer and enroll this month.

Yes, but all reports have tabbed him as a preferred walk on...

Yeah, I know. Idk if Bama will or has given Trey Sanders' brother a pwo offer. I don't see any reason why they wouldn't. But even if Trey's brother does enroll at UF or UA, Trey is still free to go wherever he wants.

If I'm in Trey's shoes, I'd make my own decision based on what's best for my future, not based on where my brother gets to be a walk-on member of the scout team for two years.

Same logic applies for Ishmael Sopsher and his "non-D1" brother, unless Orgeron is desperate enough and dumb enough to give him a scholly to enroll before Ish can sign. He might be tho.

I figure Coach Saban knows how to handle the situations with Trey's and Ish's brothers.

Yeah, that seemed like a pretty smart move on Mullen's part. Basically cost him nothing if Trey goes elsewhere and will probably give him the inside track on signing Trey.

Seems as though this isin't something Saban likes to do (I guess out of principle). Will be interesting to see if he changes as this seems to be becoming more common (and Saban has show he's open to change).

I wonder if Clemson is using that recruitment poster as well. It makes D Watson look that much better. To do what he did against us in the NC puts him above Tebow IMO.Just saying

The one situation that sticks out in my memory regarding brothers was K Allen and his brother was a G5 scholly type and Saban did not offer.
