Seeing as no one has a Rivals account to summarize that Byron Young article, I'm going to assume he told them Georgia was his leader.

Demetric Warren just CB'd him to Georgia.

B. Young "I am really liking Georgia right now and they would be on top. I would say Alabama would be next."

4-star Tennessee safety target Jalyn Phillips sets decision date (SEC Country - Tennessee)

Tennessee coach Jeremy Pruitt has stood out to Jalyn Phillips. He'll have to keep pushing with Phillips making his decision before the fall.
quote:

?Tennessee is in the mix for multiple top defensive back prospects in the Class on 2019. The Vols have put a lot of effort into the recruitment of 4-star safety Jalyn Phillips who announced (via twitter) he’ll make his final decision on Aug. 20. Tennessee is squarely in the mix for Phillips heading into the summer.

Something to note, there were some whispers about Phillips making a trip to Knoxville for a visit this past weekend for the Orange and White game. He went to Alabama’s spring game instead. The Vols will battle out the recruitment with Alabama and Oklahoma with Georgia and Clemson also receiving some consideration.

The 6-foot-1, 190-pound Phillips last visited Knoxville on Feb. 24 for a junior day. Look for the Vols to push for another visit sometime this summer.

This coaching staff has caught the Lawrenceville, Ga., native’s eye. “Just the whole new coaching staff,” Phillips told SEC Country in March. “The way they are changing things around up there, it’s going to be something special. I can’t wait to see it.”

The Vols are in need of a rebuild in the secondary. Especially if Nigel Warrior turns pro after the 2018 season. Phillips would be a great addition to the 2019 class.

Who will be LSU’s next commitment?
(SEC Country - LSU; relevant segments)
quote:

Marcel Brooks, a 4-star outside linebacker from Texas, will choose between LSU and Alabama on June 25, his birthday. He was openly favoring the Tigers after his junior day visit to Baton Rouge and he will return to campus this weekend for his official visit. He’s only two months away from announcing his intentions, and LSU has put itself in a very good position.

Brooks will be joined by 4-star edge-rusher  Kevin Harris on his official visit, his last before making a May 1 commitment. Harris has ties to Baton Rouge. His parents hail from Louisiana and his older sister currently lives in the city. Harris visited in March and has since made stops at Miami and Alabama, the two otherschools he’s considering. LSU will have the final say during his April 27 official visit and is squarely in the picture to be the destination.

Rivals250 DL Antonio Alfano talks top 3, visits, & upcoming decision

quote:

Rivals250 defensive lineman Antonio Alfano just announced a top three of Alabama, Georgia, and Penn State. The Colonia, N.J. star, who visited all three of these schools once over the last two weeks and Penn State hosted him twice in that span, broke down his top three, his recent visits, and decision timeline.

IN HIS OWN WORDS…

"This visit to Penn State was different because it was my mom’s first time up there," Alfano said. "My cousin and best friend came up too. I don’t really think she really understood the magnitude and seriousness of what goes into college football. She actually broke down and started cry because she was in awe. She didn’t know it was that serious and that Penn State had all of those things. This is the first college she’s ever visited with me so she didn’t understand everything that goes into this. That was the biggest difference with this visit compare to the other ones.

"They’re definitely in my top three schools," he said. "I think they were always one of my top schools from the beginning, really since they offered me. Alabama and Georgia are also in my top three.

"I had a great time down south," said Alfano. "This was my second visiting both schools. Alabama was an awesome visit. I had a great time there. I had some time to hang out with the players and got some good quality time with the coaches. I talked to coach Saban, the defensive coordinator, and coach Gattis. Him being there made a bit of a difference because he’s been in contact with me a lot more since he’s been down there. The visit went really well because coach Gattis was there and we could relate a little more because he knows how New Jersey.

"What stood out to me about Georgia was that the day that I visited there wasn’t anything going on that day," he said. "There was no practice and no players were really around but the coaches, coach Smart and coach Scott, still put together a good day for me, just me, to go ahead and visit. That stood out because that showed me how much they want me down there.

"Coach Scott was showing me some film and broke some things down with me," Alfano said. "We talked about defensive end and defensive tackle. It was a good conversation.

"I plan on committing no later than August 1st," he said. "The only official visit I’ll take is to the school that I commit to. I’ll take that official visit during the season. I don’t plan on signing in December."

RIVALS' REACTION…

Alfano has really been laying low until the last few weeks and now the end of his recruitment is in sight. It's hard not to see Penn State as the leader at this point but Alabama and Georgia will not easy to beat. Alfano's situation is an interesting one to follow as all three head coaches are excellent recruiters.

Not to nitpick, but he played QB, RB, WR, Slot, CB, Safety, KR, PR, and was the upback on punts.

Btw, they changed his status to DB on the roster. He was listed as a WR prior.

Well he wasn’t trying to on 75% of his kicks. He was pinning the offense inside the 10. You don’t turn those over.

Nah. I honestly didn’t talk to anyone other than Slade. We parked behind the track stadium and walked up. I bought a jacket at Bama Stuff. Met up with family to get checked in for the day. Thought we were going to get tickets, but it was just roped off, first come first served. So we went to watch him walk up. Sat there about an hour and forty five minutes. Got to see him/hug him. He lit up when he saw all of us. Then walked in, got some pulled pork nachos, and watched the game. We were supposed to meet him at the 30, but the players didn’t stay. So met him outside as he was walking to shuttle. Then walked back to football ops. Got some food. Fellowshipped for 30-45 minutes. Then drove 4 hours home without stopping.

Not in my six month too early projected class if that matters lol. Nice kid and we've got great recruiters on him, but as of now he's not a take imo. Solid B would be my guess. Asked a friend in Mississippi when I heard from Saint. If I hear back, I'll post.
Got a surprise for you guys. Not a recruit, but something for the recruiting junkies here.
Tidal, Saint can give you my info if you have a minute. Up to you

Good luck guys.

It's kind intersting that Alfano wants to commit pretty early, but not sign early. Maybe he wants to wait for a clearer picture of depth charts and possible coaching changes.

2019 4* LB King Mwikuta: “Thousand...million. Just make up a number. I’m committed." He actively recruits for Bama.

2020 4* WR Dazalin Worsham said his recruitment is overwith and that he'll be recruiting for Bama.

I graduated from Pinson in 2002, and we sucked in football. We used to get drilled by Hoover and Hewitt Trusville. I never went to games, though, wasn't my thing. My academic team kicked azz, though.

Demarcus Waldrop was a year behind me and he played for Bama during the sanction years.

J/K, sarcasm! We have been blinded by these 1000% commits before.
