I like it here, there were people calling for Surtain a few weeks out saying there was some rumbling. I just knew he wasn't coming but a few days before they had me believing.

Yep. Taking Bowles now makes sense to me.
A GREAT OL haul:
OT: Wright & Kight
OG/OT: Pierce & Bowles
OC: Webb
Saban and his staff dgaf what 247, rivals or any of us think. They do their own evaluations. I think their "ideal" 5-man OL class consists of a badass center, 2 great OTs and 2 guys who can play both OG & OT very well.
So, even if we miss on Wright, we'd still have two great OTs with Pierce & Kight. 2018 signee Tommy Brown fits the OG/OT profile and can likely be redshirted. Y'all who are "underwhelmed with taking Bowles, need to trust in tProcess and tGOAT.
I agree, and I think this means the staff prefers Bowles to Bell. Plus, Bowles doesn't have any academic question marks that I'm aware of. We could still finish with Kight, Webb, and Wright.

Don't buy into insiders, but there are always silent commits. Just because they commit to a coach does not mean the have to pay it on Twitter, Facebook, or let anyone know. They want time to tell family and friends personally before they find out through social media. Some want to announce it at a specific time or place. My cousin committed to Pitt a few years ago. It was almost two months before he publically announced it. He wasn't building drama or anything, he just wanted to announce it on his moms birthday.

A'ight, Sean. Crimson Tide now ranked #1:

For the first time since Feb. 1, 2017, Alabama is back atop the 247Sports Composite Team Recruiting Rankings. This after a series of commitments over the course of the last two and a half weeks for the Crimson Tide, which has vaulted UA from outside the top 10 to supplanting Oklahoma for No. 1.
4-star OT Tanner Bowles' commitment on Sunday wasn't the only major headline for the Tide in recent days. Yesterday, Alabama landed its second quarterback in the class and second Tagovailoa on the team when four-star signal caller Taulia Tagovailoa gave a verbal pledge to Alabama.
Earlier this week four-star inside linebacker Shane Lee committed to Alabama after his first visit to Tuscaloosa. On Monday prior to Lee, four-star, in-state cornerback Christian Williams joined the class. And that's all in the last week.

Prior to the A-Day week momentum, both four-star quarterback Paul Tyson and four-star defensive lineman Rashad Cheney committed to Alabama at the beginning of the month.
The above recruits join a longstanding commitment list headlined by five-star offensive tackle Pierce Quick, four-star athlete Brandon Turnage, four-star linebacker King Mwikuta and four-star safety Brendan Gant.
UA sits with 10 pledges in its class, good for a score of 209.09. For comparison to last year, Alabama finished with a score of 284.95 with double the number of commitments.
Don't expect the Tide to slow down. Look for the program to carry on its recent wave of momentum into the spring evaluation period, camp season, and beyond. Stay tuned to BamaOnLine for all the latest on Alabama team and recruiting news.

You really want him to jizz his other leg?

I just watched some of Bowles' film. He's a quality prospect
that has good quickness and finishes his man until the whistle blows. Seems like a smart player, too. I suspect that he'll be a Guard. He needs to add some muscle, and I think he's a prime redshirt candidate.

Driving home from Tyson's corner, va where I bought a new car and there is a newer suburban painted houndstooth with red A's all over it I keep passing. Looks shitty but I'll grab a pic if I can. I hate long drives.

Bowles is 6'5", 280 lbs, and he is the smallest male member of his family?

I’m happy we got a 4 star QB and OL this weekend, but after the hype buildup it feels like a letdown. I figured we’d have at least 2 more elite verbals from this weekend. Ah well, at least we have the number 1 class now.

Also youngest female member. Means he’s likely on his way to 6’6 or 6’7 and 300+

Four-star DB decommits from Alabama (BOL)

Alabama's short stay atop the recruiting rankings ended on Sunday evening as four-star safety Brendan Gant announced his decommitment from the Crimson Tide.

The news doesn't come as a major surprise considering Gant continued to take visits and show interest in other schools after committing to the Tide back in December. After visiting Tuscaloosa for A-Day, the Lakeland (Fla.) Kathleen product stopped at Florida State on Sunday. He's taken other visits this spring to Georgia Tech, Georgia, Miami, and USC to name a few.
The four-star safety admitted recently that things weren't exactly the same in his eyes after former defensive backs coach Derrick Ansley left the staff.
“It’s been kind of different since coach Ansley left,” he told 247Sports' John Garcia Jr. at a recent event. “At the end of the day, it’s life, I know it was best for him and his family. Just like what’s going to be best for him is going to be the best for me."
In multiple updates throughout the spring, Gant said he still felt pretty good about his commitment status, but it was clear he was still thinking over his decision.
At 6-foot-2, 187 pounds, Gant is rated the No. 6 safety and the No. 131 overall player in the country, per the industry-generated 247Sports Composite rankings.
The decommitment drops the Tide to the No. 2 spot, according to the 247Sports Composite Team Recruiting Rankings after claiming the top spot just hours before when four-star offensive tackle Tanner Bowles committed.
Stay tuned for more on this story.

I was wondering how we'd have room for our DB options. I guess this answers that.
Posted on 4/22/18 at 7:24 pm to TidalSurge1
Gant decommitting was expected I believe. The staff knew he wasn't going to be part of this class.
I think 3 is the magic number at DB, with 2 safeties.
