I think you are right on his accepting failure part but damn it gets frustrating at times like wasting a year on Anoma and Ray gonna be a jr with little PT and Buggs trying to play on one leg and tired

LINK ]Five prospects that may flip on National Signing Day (Rivals.comical | segments)
quote:

National Signing Day is Wednesday, and while most prospects committed to a school will sign with that school Wednesday, there will likely be some surprises. How many will wake up committed to one school, then flip and sign with another? We highlight five to watch Wednesday when the pen gets put to the paper.

LINK ]Quashon Fuller, 4-star SDE

Fuller has been committed to Florida State for nearly a year, but just a week before National Signing Day, he named Alabama, Florida and Florida State as his three finalists. How does a recruit have a “final three” when he is committed? That is just how it works in the recruiting world these days. It looks as if the Seminoles are still in a good spot to sign Fuller, but he was in Tuscaloosa for an official visit over the weekend and he has taken numerous unofficial visits to the Swamp.

Keilan Robinson, 4-star APB

Robinson has been committed to Alabama since June and he has not given anyone any reason to doubt his commitment even though he chose not to sign in December. But, at the last minute, the Washington D.C. running back took an official visit to USC. Should the Crimson Tide be worried? Alabama has had some staff changes, one being the running back position, but new coach Charles Huff has been up to see Robinson twice since moving to Tuscaloosa.

I agree it was frustrating watching Buggs play on one leg while a healthy Ray sat on the bench. I also thought Q played far too little in 17. Same for DT14. Not sure why Saban won’t play some of the younger and more talented guys on D because he has no problem doing it on O.

Christian Williams, 4-star Safety

Will Williams sign with Alabama? He is scheduled to announce his final decision Wednesday morning and he is not expected to ink with the Crimson Tide. Will it be LSU? He has visited Baton Rouge a few times over the last few months, including an official visit over the weekend. Miami and Texas A&M also hosted Williams on official visits this month, so the Aggies and Hurricanes are schools to keep an eye on as well. Despite being committed to Alabama, he did not take an official visit to Tuscaloosa, so it appears he will leave the state to play college football.

LINK ]Making the Case: Four-star DT Ishmael Sopsher (Rivals.comical)

quote:

National Signing Day is bearing down on the recruiting world, with just a few more days until the remaining unsigned top prospects sign their official letters-of-intent. With that in mind, several elite players have announced their final lists and are prepared for commitment announcements. One of those players is Rivals100 Louisiana defensive tackle LINK ]Ishmael Sopsher, who will announce his decision on Wednesday.

Today, experts from the Rivals.com network examine where he will end up. The candidates are Alabama, Texas A&M, Oregon and LSU.

THE SITUATION

Sopsher has had an interesting recruitment, with Alabama and LSU battling since the early going. Each team has taken its turn at the top of his list, with the Aggies and Ducks also spicing things up with strong pushes late in the fall. Since electing not to sign early, Sopsher has officially visited Alabama and LSU in back-to-back weekends, with his trip to Baton Rouge wrapping up on Sunday. Will this be another Tide-Tigers battle that isn’t decided until the last minute? Or can the Aggies or Ducks pull a surprise upset?

We asked our team of experts to state the case for their respective programs and let National Recruiting Analyst Adam Gorney to issue a verdict.

ALABAMA

“It has been tough the last few months to figure out which direction Sopsher will go. He had previously said he will not go to a school who does not also take his brother (Rodney). Things recently changed as Rodney Sopsher re-classifield to the 2020 recruiting class. Sopsher was considered a lean to Alabama months ago, but with other programs like LSU and Oregon extending an offer to his brother it looked more like he would focus on those schools.

"It doesn’t seem to matter at this time as programs like Alabama can figure out what to do with his brother down the road. There are still a lot of mixed feelings regarding what Ish will do next Wednesday.

"He took an official visit to Alabama this past weekend. Most believe Alabama has the edge heading into the final weekend. However, he is heading back to Baton Rouge. He has stated the best relationship he has with any coach is Ed Orgeron. LSU definitely has a chance to win him over this weekend while Alabama is currently in the driver’s seat. Defensive line is a big position of need for both schools.” -- Andrew Bone, BamaInsider.com

LSU

“LSU sunk its heels in and did everything in its power to keep Sopsher in his home state. Orgeron has been recruiting Sopsher since his freshman season and Tiger Stadium is only 50 minutes from his home. Even Louisiana governor John Bel Edwards, and Amite native, knows who Ishmael Sopsher is. LSU only has two defensive linemen in its 2019 class, as opposed to Alabama's five.” -- Jimmy Smith, TigerDetails.com

OREGON

“The Ducks only have one or two slots left in their class of 2019 and they would like to sign at least one more defensive tackle. Sopsher is their top target. Oregon has a serious shot here. He had an excellent official visit in December which certainly checked an important box for him.

"The Ducks have also put themselves in contention by offering his brother Rodney who played defensive end for Southwest Mississippi community college last season. Ishmael has said that there was “zero chance” he would play somewhere that did not offer his brother. Oregon has recruited the south very well under coach Mario Cristobal and they are certainly a team to watch for this Louisiana star.” -- A.J. Jacobson, DucksSportsAuthority.com

TEXAS A&M

“Texas A&M’s defense was one of the most improved in the nation last year, especially against the run. Jayden Peevy is set to replace Daylon Mack, but A&M needs to fill out their two-deep at tackle. Sophser could step in there and probably get snaps quickly. And after Terry Price and Elijah Robinson took Kingsley Keke, Landis Durham and Mack from borderline picks to making it really likely they play on Sunday in just a year, what could they do for Sophser in three?” -- Mark Passwaters, AggieYell.com

THE VERDICT

“Sopsher was an obvious choice to LSU early in his recruitment, but things got a little more tricky as things carried on in the last few months. He made it clear he wanted to play with his brother in college and some schools seemed willing to deal with that while others just didn’t have the room.

"In the end, Sopsher had found a home at LSU, a school that has had a history of developing defensive lineman and a place that would also take and develop his brother. After a long back and forth between LSU, Alabama and a little Oregon and possibly some other schools, Sopsher ends up at the place that was the favorite all along and that’s LSU.” -- Adam Gorney, Rivals.com national analyst

He has his specific standards he holds players to. Freshman running backs dont see the field if they can't pass protect, freshman WR's have to be at least capable blockers on the edge in the run game (or be such an explosive athlete that they can't be kept off the field production wise).

On defense it appears he values experience/knowledge of the system and leans towards players who will do the right thing every time, even if they aren't as explosive or dominant as someone behind them who may frick up 3 or 4 times a game.

We don’t know that he hasn’t done the right things. If not he probably wouldn’t have played at all. Just saying that our rotations / substitutions seem odd and nonexistent at times especially blowout games when starters are still in the game with less than 5 minutes in the game . Increases chance of injury, builds little to no depth and players like McDonald, N. Harris, Anoma etc contemplating leaving. I think our defense was give out at the end this year bc of this . JMO

Well this year i think a lot of the issues were injuries. Mathis and Ray rotated in regularly. Would've saw a lot more rotation if a lot of our pass rushers hadnt got hurt. One thing i hope is that Saban and staff can find a way to work with Anoma and his forgetting plays issue. Thats the one thing that keeps the younger players off the field.

I get what you are saying but at DE there probably aren’t that many assignments to remember as maybe a LB or DB with the many coverages and blitzes etc. But I am with you , the guy is quick as a cat

What younger more talented players on defense? The only guy i see is Anoma and he has issues remembering plays. Wouldve loved to see Mac take a seat but Saban wouldnt do that to an upperclassmen.

Naturally some people are concerned he may not plan on being on staff for more than a year. However, his daughter is a Senior in high school in Starkvegas so hopefully he's just letting her finish her school year with her friends and he moves this Summer.

Should we expect any assistant to be here for more than one year. If we have one for more than a year that means we probably didnt play well in the area they were coaching.

LINK ]Mind of Mike: Ten bold National Signing Day predictions (Rivals.comical)

Darnell Wright
quote:

Making predictions about what will happen on National Signing Day is usually a fool’s errand, and Rivals.com National Recruiting Director Mike Farrell is willing to play the fool. Here are 10 things to look for on Wednesday.

1. ALABAMA WILL WIN THE TITLE

Alabama is back on top of the recruiting world, so the panic that we saw last year can stop. When ‘Bama finished No. 7 last year, some said it was the beginning of the end of the Crimson Tide's recruiting reign of terror, but that was clearly wrong. Not only will Alabama finish on top, but the Tide will also finish with the top average star ranking.

This has also been hashed out many times, Moses was even more lost than Mac out there. We had no ILB's with any experience or just natural football IQ to replace either of them.

Those are the players who do all the shite right in practice/weight room and don't make mistakes (or in the case of our ILB situation, are just the least mistake prone of an inexperienced bunch)
