ORLANDO, FL -- Rivals.com National Recruiting Director Mike Farrell’s thought-provoking Three-Point Stance is here with some instant impact signees from Under Armour practice, some thoughts on the elite offensive linemen at the event and some odds and ends.
1. Fabulous freshmen to be
Now that there have been two days of practice at Under Armour, I feel a bit more comfortable with the rosters and players and think a few who have already signed could make an early impact for their future teams. Here are a few of them:
LINK ]Jordan Battle, Alabama – Even with the Alabama defensive backfield in good shape, I can see Battle making an impact next year because of his length and size.
2. Battle of the big men
![]()
Evan Neal
Five of the six top-rated offensive tackles in the nation are here at Under Armour competing for bragging rights and rankings. Here’s how they’ve done so far:
LINK ]Darnell Wright – Wright was better on day two than he was on day one and showed off ability at tackle and guard. There is no doubt that he’s raw and has some technical issues to work on, but I liked the improvement from day one to day two. We will see if he continues to improve. Has he looked like the No. 1 offensive tackle in the country? Not yet.
LINK ]Evan Neal – Neal is a monster and has been consistently good the first two days and has the look of a five-star and the No. 1 tackle in the country. The consensus down here has been that Neal is better than Wright so far.
3. Emptying out the notebook...

The national championship will be played here at Levi Stadium in 7 days. It has chunks of mixed, uneven grass like this all over. Plus, ton of spots filled with green sand to cover smaller holes
Was that before or after the game was played on it today? Because it's probably even worse now.

Trey Sanders plans to enroll this spring instead of in Jan.
I suspect that's what Taulia's doing, as well. The Poly bowl is long after the deadline to add a class.

have to confess, it has been a good minute since I had to drop/add or get under the late registration deadline; but, wouldnt the athletic dept be able to get these guys registered (at least by proxy) and get everything set for them as they return from the all star games?
Sanders missing the early conditioning and acclimation to college life would make his packing for NYC next Dec much easier.

Trey Sanders
This year’s All-American Bowl in San Antonio on Jan. 5 features a new title sponsor, but at 19 years is the longest-running high school football all-star game of its kind. This 2019 edition will feature approximately 100 of the top high school football prospects in the country, and these five college programs will be watching closest of all.
ALABAMA
Unsurprisingly the No. 1 ranked recruiting class in 2019 will feature one of the strongest contingent of committed prospects, with four recent signees and one commitment, slated to play in the game.
Quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa will be joined by five-star running back Trey Sanders, five-star defensive lineman Antonio Alfano and four-star linebacker Christian Harris from the Crimson Tide’s recent signing class, as well as defensive lineman Byron Young who has been committed to Alabama since the summer but decided not to sign in the early period.
However, Alabama is also in on as many of the uncommitted or unsigned prospects playing in the All-American Bowl as any other school. They continue to be major players for Rivals100 prospects Khris Bogle and Marcus Banks, who will be playing for the East team, as well as four-star California linebacker Henry To’oto’o, who is playing on the West team.

SAN ANTONIO — Five-star Crimson Tide defensive line signee Antonio Alfano spent the weekend on the Alabama campus before hopping into the car with his parents and making the 12-hour drive to San Antonio for the All-American Bowl.
The nation’s No. 8 player, according to 247Sports, has one last task he’s hoping to accomplish in his high school career. “I want to finish No. 1,” Alfano told BamaOnLine at the All-American Bowl check-in. “That’s my goal, that’s always been my goal. I think I can do that this week — prove to everyone I’m No. 1.”
Checking in at hair over 6-foot-4, 274 pounds, Alfano will return to the Capstone after his time in Texas to enroll early and begin his career as a member of the Tide. "I’m excited to get down and start working out with the team and stuff," he said. "I want to see what they’re about, working out with the No. 1 team in the country and seeing why they are so dominant. They were just beating Oklahoma 28-0 in the second quarter. I’m excited to get started.”
One of the Tide’s three 5-star signees in its No. 1-ranked class, Alfano is already a recognizable figure on campus. He went to Rama Jama’s for brunch on Saturday morning and was getting autograph and picture requests from fans. “I was like, woah, I haven’t even started playing yet,” Alfano said laughing. “But I’m starting to get noticed a little bit here and there.”

Alfano’s recruitment is officially over after he was the first Bama commit to sign on the morning of Dec. 19, but his decision was set in stone from Day 1 of his commitment last May.
“I always thought about it like if you have a girlfriend and you’re committed to your girlfriend, why would you want to talk to other girls if you were committed to your girlfriend?” he said. “It’s the same thing with the schools. I told them I wanted to commit there 110 percent, that’s the school I’ve always wanted to go to and there was no steering me any other way.”
A priority target of Alabama’s in the 2019 class, Alfano spent a lot of time building relationships with Nick Saban and staff. “He told me what it was,” Alfano said of the difference between Saban and other head coaches.
“He told me this is what they expect of me and what they do here. Other coaches were like glitz and glamour, we have this here, we have that here, we can do this for you, we can do that for you … Coach Saban really wasn’t like that. He was like this is what we do here and this is what we expect of you here. That’s how I like it.”
Alfano will be around some other Bama commits and targets this week in San Antonio. He’s actually rooming with Tide defensive line commit Byron Young at the hotel. He plans to talk to other targets, but not try to put any pressure on anybody.
“I’m going to tell them my side from Bama from what I like about Bama,” Alfano said. “I’m not going to steer anybody any other way. I’m not going to be the guy that says forget all the other schools and come to Bama. I’m going to be realistic. I did take other visits and I did like other schools, but at the end of the day I did choose Bama and I’m going to tell them what I liked about it the most and help them with their decision.”

Normally, they could swing something, but the post said Taulia wouldn't be on campus until after the Poly Bowl. If he's not there until the 22nd, I don't see any way they'd let him in freshman classes that started two weeks earlier.
He'd almost have to be in the session that starts Feb 11th.

Agreed, Add/drop would have passed and unless the athletic department can get each class to allow the player to do work from a distance, they would have to come in on the feb 11th date.

Hey fellas.
I know I haven't been around much in the last week, but I wanted to say thank you for all of your kind words and condolences.
Some of you reached out via text and email as well and I really appreciate it.

And now, back to recruiting:
Measurables for Alabama targets, signees at All-American Bowl
Measurables for Alabama targets, signees at All-American Bowl
quote:
A number of Alabama targets, commits and signees checked into the All-American Bowl in Texas on Monday.
Crimson Tide signees participating in the annual all-star contest include 5-star defensive end Antonio Alfano, 5-star running back Trey Sanders, 4-star inside linebacker Christian Harris and 4-star quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa. UA defensive line commit Byron Young, who opted not to sign during the Early Signing Period last month, is participating in the event as well.
Along with the Tide signees and pledges, a few of the Tide’s top targets also made the trip to San Antonio, two of which will be announcing their final decisions on Saturday during the game. They include 4-star cornerback Marcus Banks and 4-star weak-side defensive end (Jack linebacker target) Khris Bogle. Another intriguing name to watch that’s been hearing from the Tide staff is 4-star defensive tackle and Florida State commit Quashon Fuller.
Here, BamaOnLine takes a look at measurables of each prospect at check-in.
