Guys I finally watched some of his film and while I am very very happy we got Sanders...I think DJ Williams is the best back in this class. Barn got a steal.

He is underrated and they got a good player, but like I said the other day there really isn't a huge difference in skill level among the top 15-20 RBs most years. Every now and then you'll get some freak like Barry Sanders, Eric Dickerson, or Adrian Peterson who is just flat out better than everyone else and is going to kick arse no matter what, but for the most part it's a position dependent upon other players and Auburn's OL is going to be FSU bad while he's there.

Im not sure you understand how averages work. Your actual reason is that despite signing more 5*s you also signed more 3*s.

Maybe because you were able to add more kids to that average? Ever do math?

The average has to do with quality not quantity.

Math much?

Coolmtn whatever... if you came here to brag about recruiting victories then I'm sorry but you have wasted your time... Either way we both signed great classes but you're still 0-2 vs us. Have fun in your meaningless bowl game. Wether we win or lose... We made the playoffs..UGA was 1-2 in their big games. Sorry but that's not good enough

Keilan Robinson, who is the No. 28 running back in the 247Sports Composite, committed to Alabama in late June and he remains committed to the Crimson Tide despite a lot of chatter, much coming after Alabama offensive coordinator and area recruiter extraordinaire Mike Locksley was named Maryland's head coach.

St. John's does not hold a December signing day event, so many of their 2018 prospects did not sign or did not reveal they signed last year until the February window opened. All indications are Robinson will sign with the Crimson Tide.

To be fair, I started this discussion and I didn't accuse Kirby of anything.

I was just pointing out that one of your "insiders" is so connected he doesn't even know what your best recruit's parents do for a living.

Shouldn't he know that being as "tuned" in as he claims to be?

What's even more hilarious is he got the wrong information from some random woman's Twitter post and tried to pass it off as "insider" stuff.

So does that mean it's possible he already sent in his LOI and the team isn't publicizing it?

So he claims they outdid us on the trail with five 5 stars... that is good but we could end up with 4 not to mention a ton of high end 4 stars

No.

I don't think Robinson will end up with us. He might, but I'm not feeling it right now.

Well they did beat us head to head on Clay Webb and Nakobe Dean. You gotta give them credit for that even if shady shite was involved. We all do shady stuff. Don't be naive.

Nolan Smith was always going to Georgia and Travon Walker is a Georgia resident as is Dominick Blaylock.

However, we beat them straight up for Trey Sanders, Evan Neal and Antonio Alfano.

Apparently Will Reichard, too.

I'd venture at least a couple of our guys will get a bump after the all-star games. They probably will too.

ETA: As I posted yesterday I think our class is better regardless of how many 5-stars they signed. We reloaded on both the OL and DL better than perhaps any class in history.

I agree... they got a great class... so did we. I don't know if they get anymore 5 stars but we definitely have a chance at one more

2020 5-star WR Rakim Jarrett quote:

quote:

Who's recruiting him the hardest?

"Oregon, USC, Ohio State, LSU, Alabama, Florida, Tennessee and Michigan," he said.

What about hometown Maryland? He was scheduled to visit campus last week but had to postpone. Mike Locksley was working on him before taking the Terps job, but hasn't been in touch yet.

"He hasn't really reached out yet because he's at Alabama going for the national championship and everything. He was recruiting me at Alabama. We have a pretty OK relationship," he said.

He did say Maryland jumped into his Top 10 when Locksley was hired and mentioned it would be great to play for the home state school.

Uh, so, it appears there may be some smoke regarding Jalen transferring to Oklahoma after the playoffs.

At least that's the word from the Oklahoma 247 site. They even cited "Alabama" sources in the article.

Maryland is an option as well apparently.

But, Jalen has yet to show up in the mythical Transfer Portal.

From al.com

Could Alabama land another 4-star Mississippi DL?

quote:

Four-star defensive lineman and Mississippi State commit Nathan Pickering did not sign this week and plans to wait until February to make his college choice official. Mark Hudspeth, the assistant who handled Pickering's recruitment for Mississippi sTate, recently left to become head coach at Austin Peay (Tenn.). Adding those two developments together leads to a simple question: Could another school flip the 6-foot-3, 285-pounder? "Honestly, I tell this to every reporter, if there's a school that has a chance to flip me, it'd be Alabama," Pickering said after playing in Monday's Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Classic in Montgomery.

quote:

Why does Pickering still like Alabama? "Ever since the first offer they gave me, it's been the same," Pickering said. "They haven't stopped and they've been recruiting me hard ever since. One thing I like is loyalty, and they show a lot of loyalty. They don't (say), 'Oh, he committed to Mississippi State, he'll stay in state, (so) let's back off.' They didn't think that way. They stayed recruiting me."

quote:

Alabama signed 23 players on Wednesday, including six defensive linemen. The defensive front is an area of emphasis for the Crimson Tide, with starter Isaiah Buggs set to graduate and underclassmen Quinnen Williams and Raekwon Davis considering early entry into the NFL draft. In Mississippi's 24-20 win in Monday's all-star game, Pickering finished with five tackles, including one for a loss, and showcased the kind of athleticism coveted by college recruiters. Pickering -- wearing No. 22, a number usually worn by running backs or defensive backs -- played nose guard and led a defensive front that allowed just 57 rushing yards on 22 carries.

quote:

Pickering also played offense, lining up in the backfield as a fullback, with a hand on the ground as a blocking tight end, and in the slot as a lead-blocking H-back as Mississippi turned to a single-wing offense in the second half. Pickering's blocking prowess helped Mississippi run for 257 yards on 53 carries and paved the way for Jarrod Conner to run for 112 yards and two touchdowns. "It's nothing new," Pickering said. "I played that a lot at my high school. I knew coming into this game, I'd have a chance to play those position. When coach put in that package, he asked me about it: 'You played H-back?' I said, 'Yes, sir,' because I knew I could do it, and I stepped up the challenge."

quote:

Pickering, though, couldn't convince the Mississippi coaches to throw him the ball. "I was saying, 'Coach, I can catch it, too,'" Pickering said. "But we never ran it. We never had to. It was nice to get back there and show my athleticism." Pickering also explained his rationale behind waiting until February to sign. "I'm waiting because I'm trying to give it as much time as I can to make sure the decision is right," Pickering said. "I wanted to see who I was going to sign with in school. I don't want to go to a school where they sign three juco defensive tackles, you know what I mean? I want to see where everybody signs, and that will just give me more time to think about it and make sure I'm making the right direction. A 4-star prospect according to the 247Sports Composite rankings, Pickering ranks as the nation’s No. 65 prospect nationally and sixth-best defensive tackle.
