I prefer having just one dog, but it’s definitely been easier in my experience to train a dog when I have multiple.

Good looking little guy.

Oh yeah, I forgot.

I told y'all on Friday how my idiot SIL started calling him Murphy when she got him a month ago. Well, he knows that is his name.

I still didn't want to call him that so my wife had a suggestion. "Murph."

We're sticking with that.

Is Pickering someone that we would be interested in after ESD?

It appears so.

He's a pretty big dude already (285 pounds) so he could probably play inside like QW in college. If Sopsher decides to go to Oregon, then Pickering would be a nice consolation prize.

New Suttles Article on The Athletic:

Pierce Quick Recruiting Others

quote:

“He was probably 6-4, and he was only 197 pounds when he played his first game,” said his father, Wayne Quick. “As a parent, I’m thinking he’s going to get murdered.” Only he didn’t. He played well. So well in fact that he wanted to concentrate on football and become a one-sport athlete. There was no way that was going to happen. Words matter to Wayne Quick. When a man says he’s going to do something, it’s expected to get done. To give a commitment is sacrosanct. To his way of thinking, his oldest son gave the baseball team a commitment when he tried out and made the squad the previous May. Just because Pierce had found success on the football field didn’t mean he could eschew his commitment to the baseball coach or his team. So Pierce played baseball his freshman year. “He played those last three games (of the varsity football season) and he said he wasn’t playing baseball,” Wayne Quick said. “I said, ‘Well, here’s the problem. You’re not quitting because you’ve already made the team. If you don’t want to go out for the team next year, then you don’t have to try out.’ We got in a war over that. It got a little ugly. My thing was he’s not quitting.”

quote:

But Pierce’s commitment to the 2019 recruiting class isn’t done. When he jumped on board nearly two years ago, he vowed to be the leader of this class. He started the text threads with other elite recruits urging them to join him for the ride. So just because he’s on board and on campus doesn’t mean he fulfilled his vow. That’s why he’s still leading the text threads and urging his friends — recruits like running back Trey Sanders, offensive tackle Evan Neal and linebacker Nakobe Dean — to join him and sign with the Crimson Tide.

quote:

Even on his official visit to Alabama the weekend of Dec. 8, Quick was on the job. He was in the ear of four-star defensive back Jeffery “Scooby” Carter, who was at the time verbally committed to Texas A&M. Quick had stayed on him all fall, and his diligence paid off when Carter approached him during their official visit. “Around 11 o’clock that morning and he came up to me, and me and him have been friends since early in the summer,” Quick said. “He walked up to me and said, ‘I did it.’ I said, ‘You flipped.’ He said, ‘I flipped.’ I gave him a big hug. I was pumped.”

quote:

“Pierce will outwork you,” Wayne Quick said. “And he’s the nicest kid off the field. But on the field, he’ll bury you. Pierce tells even his teammates, ‘Listen, we’re buds, but when we’re on the field, we’re not buds.’ ” It’s a fascinating dichotomy between the easy smiling boy next door you see in street clothes and the one who will rub your nose in the dirt on the field. It’s also what makes him as likable as he is. Pierce Quick is still working the phones in the hours and days before the early signing period. His wish list includes those same friends he’s been working all along as Alabama tries to sign its eighth No. 1 class in nine years.

I mean, I get that. They named him after someone they admired.

My SIL just fricking picked it out of a hat like she does her other animals. She has a teacup Chihuahua named Paul and a giant Mastiff named Henry.

No fricking reasoning behind either one of them.

That's a very good sign that he yapped to go outside to poop. Wolfing down food is instictive. Use an abrubt loud "eh-eh" instead of "no" to train dogs on what's not allowed. Do that noise and snatch the food bowl away, pet/calm him and then ease it back down with a couple of bites of food in the bowl. Wait at least 15 seconds, then put a couple more bites in the bowl, repeating until he's fed. That should break the habit within a few days.

Per Watts and Bone, Dax Hill isn't signing early.

That's a shame, but he will be one of probably 5 priority targets after ESD, he will get plenty of attention in the leadup to NSD.

BOL Nuggets (summarized)

Jordan Battle - Announcing and signing on Wednesday. Ohio State trying to get back in it, but it's a longshot. Appears to be Bama bound.

Nakobe Dean - Tim still feels Alabama leads here. He says he will let everyone know if it changes.

Evan Neal - UGA smoke seems to be settling down. Alabama will be tough to beat.

Trey Sanders - Florida gave it their shot this weekend, but they feel they are out. Tim says he doesn't think he ends up at Alabama, but the staff is still trying. A source close to Trey says he is confused at this stage. Having said that, he wouldn't be surpised if he chose Alabama, Georgia or Texas.

Dax Hill - Not signing early. Michigan is trying to flip him back.

ETA: DJ Williams - The feeling is Auburn and Alabama (if they offer) would have the edge going into Wednesday.

He wasn't signing early when he was committed to Michigan either.

If Sanders ends up at Texas and Dean at Ole Miss who melts more, this board or UGA fans?
I feel confident that Saban and this staff does a better job identifying backup plans/developing players than UGA so missing wouldn't hurt nearly as bad, especially if as Tim said Neal looks to be Bama Bound.
