Recruits can do whatever they want. But honestly haven’t they seen other recruits do that same thing cycle after cycle? If you want to shock the world maybe you shouldn’t follow a basic formula

Attention Alabama fans: A new kicker, maybe even a reliable one, will be on campus soon.

Hoover’s Will Reichard -- the nation’s No. 1 place-kicking prospect -- plans to sign with Alabama, enroll at Alabama in January and participate in spring practice with the goal of winning the place-kicking job.

"Right now, I'm going to go in and probably compete for all three," Reichard said earlier this week when he reported for the Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Classic. "I specialize in field goals and kickoffs, but I'll do whatever they need me to do."

Alabama, of course, has experience kicking woes throughout Nick Saban's head coaching tenure, including Andy Pappanastos' shanked field goal at the end of regulation in last year's national championship game and Adam Griffith's inconsistent career that included 26 missed field goals from 2013-16.

Alabama fans' collective angst about the kicking continued during the 2018 season, as Joseph Bulovas and Austin Jones combined to miss eight extra points and five field goals.

Alabama hasn't made a field goal of 50 or more yards since Cade Foster kicked a 53-yarder against Ole Miss in 2013.

Why Will Reichard is already a fan favorite
Why Will Reichard is already a fan favorite

That's why Reichard, the only 3-star prospect on Alabama's No. 1-ranked 2019 commitment list, is one of the Tide's most anticipated signees. He said he wanted to sign early in hopes of earning early playing time.

"I want to be able to get used to the system -- the workouts and stuff -- and be able to play as a freshman," Reichard said.

Reichard made 27-of-31 career field goals and finished 109-of-109 on extra points at Hoover. He was also a weapon on kickoffs with 186-of-188 kickoffs landing in the end zone or beyond for touchbacks, according to career stats provided by Hoover. and he also handled punting duties at Hoover.

Hope they are right about him Cobra. Probably be like all the “great shooters” we recruit in b-ball

I don’t think he will be any worse FWIW

Has anybody pulled that Reichard kid aside and explained to him what happens to kickers when they arrive in Tuscaloosa?

The only way I can deal with our kickers and basketball is to attempt to laugh my way through it.

Killing someone is somewhat out of the question, so I just try to laugh

I'm seriously starting to regret getting sucked into this recruiting watch..lol I have been doing it for the last 10 years and it seems to get more and more stressful. The free time i would have if I didn't check the board so much..lol Its damn sure addictive.

its worse than that... I work in a building of them... they think Bama is nothing but lucky, they out play Bama all the time, they play a harder schedule, they out recruit Bama, Kirby is SO VERY YOUNG... Saban is near death, Bama has to be paying the ref's...yada yada yada.... All Week long, UGA just got the #1 Player out of Bama, "more to come" Bama's ride is over,.....
I asked what the odds were just now on who will win the 2018-19 NC? Uga or Bama... room hushes... mic drop

I enjoy following recruiting, but I'm spending way too much time on it.

I will not let myself fret over kids choosing a school other than Bama. Best wishes to them, except for if/when they play against us. I move on -- I care about the ones who want to Roll with the Tide.

I love the guys who have zero doubts -- guys like Quick, Tyson, Dale, Antonio Alfano, Shane Lee, Kevin Harris, King Mwikuta, DeMarcco Hellams... The ones who commit, shut down their own recruitment and peer recruit for Bama.

Buckner is coming along pretty nicely. Probably gonna put up 10+ sacks this season, almost certainly the best player who was in consideration at that spot.

Half of those are coverage sacks. Im just not a fan of his. He isnt a difference maker and is going to get paid like it.

Im picking him as the one that cures the curse, ends the trend of Bama picking kickers from out of state that come on campus as the answer and leave as the >>????>>what were they thinking?>>>> Time to bring in Bama Boys who want to kick in front of the family

I'm hoping Battle announces today -- for a nice momentum boost.

Good news, I missed the Thibs announcement. Bad news, I was at a preschool b'day party. Hoping Bogle jumps on board.

Thibs is going to crush a lot of crunchy granola in Eugene.

Come on Battle, I need a flip before the weekend. Get some positive vibes going. I know the next couple of days this will basically be a defacto UGA board.
