We lose battles every year, just like every other program every single year.

We'll sign a top 5 class. There will be at least one (probably more) 5* guy in it. Actually, if I had to guess a number, I'd say 3 of them will be Composite 5*.

So... "meh" at that.

Good job 3714.

One thing I will have total faith in is Nick Saban and recruiting. Same cannot be said with on the field, so I know he is not perfect. I would much rather them sign quantity over quality in 2018, and save those spots for the all world class in 2019.

Losing our #1 Defensive Lineman target to a school that has had a pitiful track record for defense (this year they are better, but still) stings no matter how you want to look at it.

Saw we may have “tampered” with the Iowa DT recruit bc he signed a LOI and it was still binding? Wonder what the penalty is for this? Secondary violation ?

I don't see the connection. Certainly isn't affecting other schools. No excuses, this staff needs to get it done.

You can’t see the connection for a staff that’s signed seven consecutive top ranked classes? And now a major shift in recruiting occurs with an earlier signing period. Saban has already said they’re still trying to learn how to manage it.

Then several other schools did too.

Bad news all around boys. What does a commit feel like at this point.

How do you lose your top DL prospect to Texas A&M.

Kevin Sumlin’s job is saved and Swag is back from that amazing 8 point loss to the Tide.

Dunno if you saw this, but decent post on it from Iowa site: LINK

Can't imagine it would be any more than a secondary violation. Seems like pretty honest mistake given that he didn't get in initially.

So this begs the question - if he was still bound to Iowa under his NLI and Crimson Tide defensive line coach Karl Dunbar indeed called Nixon, as the Des Moines Register has reported, did the Tide commit a recruiting violation?

Nixon called Dunbar though.

Alabama was delivered a big blow on the recruiting trail Friday morning when 4-star defensive tackle Bobby Brown committed to Texas A&M over the Crimson Tide. What hurts more is that the Tide were very confident they were going to land Brown’s commitment since the summer and just as recently as a few days ago.

Brown originally planned to announce his commitment on Nov. 2 to honor his uncle Demetric Shaw on his birthday, but the nation’s No. 14 defensive tackle decided to move up the date before his scheduled official visit to Texas A&M this weekend.

Now that Brown has committed, don’t expect the Tide to stop recruiting him. He’s not an early enrollee, so there’s lots of time left before he signs his letter of intent.

In the meantime, let’s take a look at some other targets to see where Alabama turns next:

Caleb Tremblay, 4-star JUCO DT, American River Community College (Sacramento, Calif.)

Tremblay emerged as a main target for the Tide over the summer when he balled out at one of the team’s OL/DL camps. He is planning on taking an official visit to Tuscaloosa on Dec. 15. It’s the only visit he has set right now.

That’s an important date to be aware of because the early signing period starts on Dec. 20. I expect Tremblay to choose Alabama.

Coynis Miller, 4-star DT, Jackson-Olin High School (Birmingham, Ala.) — committed to Auburn

Miller committed to Auburn over Alabama earlier this month but is expected to visit Tuscaloosa again before signing his letter of intent. Miller grew up an Alabama fan, so maybe the coaching staff can convince him to play for his childhood team.
