I like Slade a lot. His versatility is going to make him an extremely important player for us.

On a recruiting note Slade is my favorite recruit so far. Reminds me of the offensive equivalent of Sunseri a few years back. Very athletic and plays with a lot heart and a chip on his shoulder. Seems to be a team player as well. Also don't hurt LSU fans seem obsessed with him committing to us

I think Slade could be a monster on offense IF we utilize him correctly.

Like OJ could of been if we used the TE correctly? SMH will never understand not using the TE more. Just hope not using the TE's the 1st two games doesn't hurt us with Ford.

Is Slade a slot all the way or could he play some RB?

Think saint posted article where he wanted to play WR and felt it was his best position but he was open to playing anywhere the team needed him even if it meant moving to defensive side of the ball.

Slade said he would even be open to playing DB.

He's a slot, but he will do whatever is needed to help the team. Posted here before, but he's played QB, RB, WR, Slot, CB, Safety, PR, KR, and upback on punts so far at WM. This past week he played CB the last few drives as well as QB the entire game.

But he's slow, fat, and out of shape per reo45...

Well reo45 is a fricking moron.

All one needs to do is watch his film to see he has an elite initial burst. His 10 yard split has to be ridiculous.

He's definitely quicker than fast. Shifty with that 4 flat shuttle.

I agree. I also think we'll use him correctly.

That being said - and I know this is extreme "spoiled Bama fan" stuff here, but - I will believe we field an elite passing attack one day in my lifetime when I see it. I'm not talking about one that is efficient enough to complement the running game and the defense. But one that can just take over a game and be unstoppable. For the moment, I'm almost convinced that we could field Tom Brady at QB, Jerry Rice and Randy Moss at WR, with the early 90's Cowboys OL and Bill Walsh as the OC (all in their primes), and we would still just merely have a passing game that could be complementary if the running game is clicking. Somehow, Bama football just isn't meant to be a top-notch passing attack. Not that it's hurt us too much in recent years. But it sure would be nice to have with all of the good defenses loading men in the box.

He reminds me of Mark Ingram with his initial burst. His 40 time might not be great, but if he's past the LOS and 10 yards down field in less than 1 second who cares?

Perhaps we shouldn't fix what isn't broken? Considering we've been to every CFB playoff in existence, won one of them and before that we won 3 BCS titles in 4 years.

Bama football has been roughly the same. We've tweaked things, we've added a running QB, but overall we've been about running the ball, and playing defense.

This is my one complaint from our team last year and early this season. We aren't giving the ball to our RBs enough IMO.

Some of us act like being a strong running team and a really good passing team are a mutually exclusive thing. I'm not saying to change our overall strategy of being a team based around a strong, physical running game with complementary passing game. I just wish we could (one of these years) be a really good passing team as well. I'm not really harping on anything too much here. The results have been better than any other program has ever accomplished. But it's just sort of weird that no matter who the coach is, we seem to be able to at least run the ball a little bit and play a little defense (granted, we certainly weren't physical under Shula), but tend to range from down right bad at times to rag-tag to occasionally pretty solid (and a good complement), but never top-notch in the passing game.

Could you imagine how good one of Saban's teams would be if we had the ability to pass it around like Oklahoma, but still have the running game and defense that we currently have? I just have no reason to believe that it's impossible to do this. Again, it's not so much of a complaint (as we don't have too much room to complain) as a curiosity as to why we never seem to put it together in the passing game regardless of the QB, OC, head coach. etc. like we do in other phases of the game.

It's not like we haven't tried over the years. In fact, the past three years under Kiffin are the 1st, 2nd and 7th best UA passing offenses of all time. We just didn't have the quarterback to be an elite passing offense. We had a career benchwarmer from FSU, an RB, and a true freshman.

We've never had the correct pieces between HC, OC and QB. Sometimes that was by design of the HC, sometimes because we didn't have the QB.

Just another thread about Slade Bolden on the LSU Recruiting Board

There are a LOT of angry jackasses on that recruiting board.

I hope ours never morphs into something like that. I just don't understand being angry about a recruit committing to another school. Even a Rival.

I hate to agree with 3714 but I do and not asking for a air raid offense but one like what they had at USC during Pete Carroll years. We have all the athletes they did at the skilled position but yet can not seem to get in a passing groove. I want teams that load the box pay for it by passing the ball and vice versus but right now and for most of the years under Saban people load the box and do not worry about our passing game. Which I think has hurt us in these close losses and inability to come from behind.
