SAN DIEGO – Five-star cornerback Isaac Taylor-Stuart knows of one official visit so far.
No surprise it’s to DBU, also known as LSU.
The top cornerback in the West said Saturday at the Honor Bowl that he plans to take an official visit to LSU sometime during the season and he’s planning an unofficial visit to USC soon as well.
Getting to Baton Rouge – especially for a game – could be a big deal for the San Diego Helix standout.
“Coach (Corey) Raymond is really a 100-percent guy and he’d help me get better,” Taylor-Stuart said.
As for other visits, the five-star cornerback said he’s targeting Oregon, Texas A&M and Alabama for trips. He said the Aggies, Ducks, Trojans, Crimson Tide and Texas are recruiting him the hardest at this point.
The Ducks have definitely stepped it up most.
“I’d say Oregon is recruiting me the hardest,” Taylor-Stuart said. “I have like 10 coaches, every single coach texts me and says good luck.”
Alabama is not far behind.
“They’re ringing my phone non-stop now, coach (Nick) Saban and coach (Tosh) Lupoi and coach (Derrick) Ansley.
“They’re asking when they’re going to get me out for a visit, come on an official and everything. I was saying, ‘We’ll see coach.’”
Ohio State also remains in the mix but Taylor-Stuart did not mention the Buckeyes as much as other programs. Texas A&M remains a contender because Taylor-Stuart struck up a friendship with some Aggies’ commits during the big-time summer events.
“Leon O’Neal and them are great guys,” Taylor-Stuart said. “That doesn’t quite influence me but it helps me know they’re great guys and I can depend on them and everything.”
With USC, Taylor-Stuart defended Trojans commit Andre Hunt in Helix's game against Lancaster (Calif.) Paraclete and said afterward it was neat going up against someone who could be a future teammate. There’s no doubt USC should be a player until the end for the five-star corner.
“I like them because of man coverage and everything like that and I’m cool with all the coaches and everything,” Taylor-Stuart said. “I feel like it’s a good fit also.”
A commitment is not expected until December at the earliest but more likely at an all-star game.

Why would they have included Ohio State among the schools he couldn't transfer to? That's kind of weird and random UNLESS (and I suspect this is what happened) OSU was tampering. This is usually why these random restrictions happen.

OHST finished 2nd in his recruitment and there are some rumors they were trying to contact him. But I also think Gus would be that petty
Honestly I find it odd that he would leave AU because Garner and Ryan Russell were too demanding then sign with Bama. Hope it works out for the kid. I do think he could be a monster if he gets mind right. He was expected to be our #4 DT this season and play plenty

Yea who knows. This is his quote about it:
quote:
“My question was: Why are they blocking Ohio State for no reason?” Jackson told The State. “They just put Ohio State on there for no reason. My question to them is why are they blocking me from a Big Ten school when they don’t have anything to do with Big Ten schools? Why didn’t they block me from Michigan or Indiana or any other Big Ten school? Why would they do that immediately?”

May have been tampering, but would the kid know about that?

Jaylen McCollough still high on Alabama
Alabama, Georgia and Florida State. That’s who Jaylen McCollough is strongly focusing on at this time, but it’s the Crimson Tide who seem to have more momentum than the other two schools at this time.
McCollough, a 4-star safety from Hillgrove High School (Powder Springs, Ga.), attended Alabama’s opener against Florida State at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, where he got a close-up look at two of his top schools.
“For Alabama, Minkah [Fitzpatrick] and Ronnie Harrison really impressed me with how they played,” McCollough told SEC Country. “Defensively, Alabama never fails to impress me with just how they fly around and get to the ball as a team. Coach [Nick] Saban and coach [Jeremy] Pruitt have always had a strong defense, and that stands out to me.”
The nation’s No. 3 safety in the 2019 class hasn’t decided if he’ll be at Alabama’s home opener this weekend against Fresno State, but the fact that he’s even thinking about making the drive to Tuscaloosa when it’s clearly not going to be a competitive game shows just how much he’s feeling the Tide right now.
He even made two trips to Tuscaloosa in a span of five days over the summer when he traveled for a camp and then came back for the Champions Cookout days later.
“It’s just a fun place to be, and I love going there,” McCollough said. “The atmosphere and the people are great. It’s just a different feeling once you get down to Tuscaloosa.”
The 6-foot-1, 190-pound prospect said Alabama “might” be the school that’s recruiting him the hardest. It’s either ‘Bama or Ohio State, he said. Both of those schools are in daily communication with him. He said with Alabama, the coaching staff is constantly inviting him to campus for events, and he obliged, for the most part, over the summer.
McCollough speaks frequently with Pruitt; offensive line coach Brent Key, his primary recruiter; and defensive backs coach Derrick Ansley. Ansley already has a plan for McCollough if he decided to commit to the Tide.
“Talking to Coach Ansley, he says I’m a big aspect of what they are trying to do in the future,” McCollough said. “He has already told me he wants me at a certain weight [210 pounds] and positions I’ll play at, so the depth chart really does play a factor into whatever school I commit to.”
Heading into next season, the depth chart he speaks of will be thin, especially at cornerback with Anthony Averett and Levi Wallace exhausting eligibility. McCollough isn’t being recruited primarily at safety by Alabama. The coaching staff believes he has the versatility to play anywhere in the secondary, much like Fitzpatrick.
That’s what makes McCollough a very appealing prospect for the top college football teams in the country. So, what can Alabama do at this point to separate itself from Florida State and Georgia?
“Just continue to be Alabama and do what they do,” McCollough said. “Alabama is a really great program. Just looking at what they have done in the past — they win. They produce NFL talent and their players always have success.”
McCollough said he’s planning on making his commitment at some point between December 2017 and July 2018. As of now, I fully expect him to choose Alabama when he makes his commitment.

Nadab Joseph committing soon?
Nadab Joseph, a 4-star cornerback from Miami Norland High School (Miami Gardens, Fla.), was one of the numerous elite recruits who visited Atlanta for Alabama’s season opener against Florida State. He also is one of several prospects who are strongly considering both schools.
Ever since Joseph de-committed from LSU a month ago, Alabama has been viewed as the favorite to land his next commitment. The Crimson Tide’s performance inside Mercedes-Benz Stadium impressed the elite recruit.
“From the beginning to the end, man, that game was lit,” Joseph said. “Alabama is definitely in a good position with me.”
So, this tweet should be good news for Alabama if he’s committing soon:
Nadab Joseph @nadabjoseph
Will be making my decision soon. I'll keep y'all posted on date
It honestly was surprising that Joseph didn’t just flip to Alabama when he de-committed from LSU. But, the nation’s No. 21 cornerback isn’t saying Alabama is on top right now.
“Right now, it’s really a three-way tie between Alabama, LSU and Georgia,” Joseph said. “I just want to wait until I get on each school’s campus for my official visit.”
Joseph, who will use that official visit on Nov. 4 to see Alabama host LSU, is one of the team’s top cornerback targets along with Tyson Campbell, Patrick Surtain Jr., Josh Jobe, Kyler McMichael and Alabama cornerback commit Jalyn Armour-Davis.

Going to Lincoln to watch Sylacauga versus Lincoln. My son plays for Sylacauga as a back up TE/LB. Just a sophomore but is growing, 6' 185. Neither team really has anyone D1 caliber that I have seen.

This is a very critical recruiting cycle on the DL. Provided that James isn't moved to DL, we'll only have 6 returning scholarship DL. We need at least 4 DL this cycle, and with Payne likely being a 1st round pick we'll need an impact player at NT.

Parks, the greyshirt, could probably play DE. He was already up to around 260.

Parks, the greyshirt,
We forget about this kid, who was a top 100 player in the 2017 recruiting cycle. I'm sure he's got a weight and diet program that Cochran "suggested". Kid is missing the practice reps, but it's as if he had an ACL or something that kept him from practicing, except he's getting bigger and faster instead of rehabbing an injury.
I think he'll be a beast eventually. Either way, I'll always think of him as one of the favorites b/c he wanted to be here so badly that he took a GS instead of just accepting the flood of offers that came in for him.

Slade interview for HS hero of the week.
With a tight, two-point ballgame entering the fourth quarter Friday, West Monroe turned to its senior star quarterback Slade Bolden.
The Alabama commit orchestrated the Rebels' longest drive on the night, an eight-play, 60-yard march that took 3:53 off the clock, capping it with a 2-yard touchdown run and two possessions later, carried the ball all five times for 62 yards including the 33-yard rushing score that put John Ehret away, 47-32.
Bolden finished the night with 232 passing yards, 121 rushing yards and five total touchdowns and went on to earn the Cooper Buick GMC High School Hero of the Week for Week 1 with 50 percent of the total vote. Sterlington’s Austin Dupree got 35 percent while Ruston’s Tahj Samual had 15 percent of the vote.
Cory Diaz, The News-Star: What did the think of the offense’s overall performance in the opener?
Slade Bolden: We came out and were able to get a good spark for the offense. It was a grind all game. John Ehret did a great job stopping our run game and at times did a great job of stopping our passing game. We just continued to work and found plays that were allowing us get open and score. It was tough. At times we went three-and-out and it was frustrating, but finally we got the job done and I was thankful for it.
CD: In a tight, fourth-quarter game, your coaches and teammates turned to you. How does it make you feel that they have that trust in you?
Bolden: Even we got that huge lead, we knew we were going to have to continue to score because their offense scores so easily and their defense could stop us. But it means a lot that they trust me to make the play. Our guys do a great job blocking for me and I know my receivers run great routes – Jairus with over 200 yards receiving. That helps me and that allows the defense the spread out and allows me to run the ball or be able to throw it.
CD: Talk about the Rebels’ ability to make big plays on offense.
Bolden: I feel like all of our receivers are pretty consistent. We’ve got more of our speed guys like Jairus and (Michael) Hamburg that are one-on-one type guys. Barry and Snowie do a great job of being consistent, always catching every ball. All of them do a great job and I definitely can’t complain, I have great targets to throw to. At times, if we catch a defense slipping and the wrong coverage, we can hurt. We just have to continue to get better.
CD: It looks easy running and throwing the ball behind those guys up front in Jacob Ingram, Austin Breen, Ryan Johnson, Logan Green, Scott David and Hunter Robinson.
Bolden: I tell them every day that I believe in them. I have faith in them and without them, none of my success is possible. None of the running backs’ success, nothing. I hope they know that I am very appreciative of them and without them I am not who I am today. So I am very thankful.
CD: Looking ahead to this Friday, how does the offense’s performance from Week 1 help going into the game versus Booker T. Washington from Tulsa?
Bolden: Booker T. Washington is another great team. Playing a team like John Ehret allows us to be more prepared because John Ehret had such a good defense and good offense, too. Going in, we’ve seen big guys and we have a chance to handle them. It’s another great test, that what you want though. You want that experience and get those good games out of the way and get more prepared for district and the playoffs. We’re ready, we’ll be prepared and I’m excited to play in the Independence Bowl.
