I'd be happy with Tuttle or Shough.

West is going to Stanford soley for the education. They have a logjam at qb.

Ya, especially if they pull JT Daniels for 2019, who they lead for, could possibly leap frog West upon arrival.
Another question remains if Washington holds on to both current committed Top 10 QB's in Sirmon & Yankoff..?
Sirmon holds a Bama offer with Tosh as the primary.
Could Tosh pull another west coast QB in back-to-back years..?
Doubtful bc he's an instate kid that's been committed since Dec 2015, but we'll see, clearly possible considering Tosh's reach.

I don't even know why we're taking a QB this year. It is literally wasting a spot. Next year Tua's little bro is coming out who should be our priority even over Bear Bryant's grandson.
The only QB we should be interested in is the kid that won't be coming to campus until 2020.

I don't know Bama as well as most who post here, but didn't you guys only have 1 QB as of the NCG last year? If he had sprained an ankle on drive one against Clemson you were screwed right?
So you added 2 this year, and have 3 underclassmen total right? There is a chance one of those 2 bolts in a year or two as well, since as you yourself are indicating there is so much youth at the position and only 1 guy who can play. That's speculation of course
In a perfect world, you would take 1 qb a year and that be that, to space them out, and redshirt as necessary. Bama doesn't really have the ability to do that with the situation, as there are only 3

Did you miss three QBs leaving Alabama just recently? That alone is why you take a QB every damn year. There's no such thing as a career backup QB anymore, to fall back on.

Bama has 3 scholarship QB on the roster this year. Max Jones could see he won't be any better then 3rd string and leave after this year. Bama has to sign a QB in the 18 class that will be on campus for the 18 season.

Lil Tua apparently didn't perform very well at the Charlotte Opening Regional two weekends ago.

You take at least 1 QB every year. No question.

Alabama strongly in the mix for KJ Henry
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — KJ Henry admits that if you were to ask last year which school he thought he would have ultimately signed with when it came time to decide, he would have said Clemson.
His recruitment has evolved since then.
That’s not to say Clemson shouldn’t be considered a top contender to land his services. The Tigers are absolutely in the mix and are likely the favorites to land the 5-star defensive end from West Forsyth High School (Clemmons, N.C.) when he signs during the early signing period in December.
“They are still a top school for me, but it is not like last year where you can just say that’s where I am going,” Henry told DawgNation’s Jeff Sentell. “That’s not the case. I don’t know where I am going. Things change. You know within these next couple of months [that] you don’t know who is going to be where with coaches and players and what is going to happen. I just like to let things play out and then will get to make my decision.”
Over the past year, Henry has broadened his focus to a top 10 that includes Alabama, Georgia, Louisville, Ohio State, Penn State, Pittsburgh, South Carolina, Virginia Tech and UNC-Charlotte. His father, Keith, is the running backs coach at Charlotte, which is why the 49ers made the cut for a 5-star prospect.
From talking to multiple people close to the Alabama program, they believe it’s an Alabama-Clemson race to land Henry’s signature. The nation’s No. 2 weakside defensive end explained why the Crimson Tide are in a good position with him.
“[Alabama outside backers] Coach [Tosh] Lupoi, honestly,” Henry told SEC Country. “I have a great relationship with him.
“I talk to him at least once a week. He’s a great guy. I really like talking to him. Obviously, what he’s done with that program at that position is very exciting.”
The 6-foot-5, 234-pound prospect is being recruited by Alabama as a JACK, which is a hybrid of defensive end and outside linebacker with an emphasis on pass rushing. The Crimson Tide signed Chris Allen as a JACK in the Class of 2017 and grayshirt prospect Jarez Parks will be one, too, when he officially gets going with the team.
Henry also has the ability to play as a defensive end, where depth isn’t too deep. It’s something that Lupoi has stressed to him.
“That’s kind of the secret right now with a good team like that,” Henry said. “It’s not that deep on the defensive line. With that program, early playing time is not really a necessity. You really only need one good year to make it to the league. They have definitely let me know about that.”
Even if depth was a problem at Alabama, his father said it will not be an issue for his son.
“Alabama is recruiting Keith hard,” he said. “With him, I just think Alabama is Alabama. But their tradition and reputation and the players they have every year are just not going to bother him. KJ is going to go wherever he wants to go and he is just going to compete. Alabama’s depth won’t matter.
“He won’t care where it is and who is in front of him. He is going to compete. He wants to raise his level to be with the best … whoever is the best that is on that field ahead of him at any time. It could be Alabama. It could be Georgia. It could be Clemson, Penn State or Ohio State. Whatever. He wants to be with the best. If he’s not with the best yet when he gets there, then those guys are just going to fuel him and push him until he gets up there with them.”
Henry will visit Penn State this summer. It’s the only planned trip he has and it’s the only school in his top 10 that hasn’t been visited yet. He plans on cutting his top 10 to a top 5 by Aug. 1. Those are the schools that will receive official visits.
Alabama will make the cut for him.
“It’s really a great place to be,” Henry said. “They have a great winning tradition. As long as they keep on doing what they’ve been doing and don’t slip up, they’ll be in the mix.”

Alabama offensive coordinator Brian Daboll spent his Friday at Central Gwinnett High School with the hopes of courting quarterback Jarren Williams.
Williams, who is one of the hottest quarterbacks in the Class of 2018 in terms of recruiting, decided to shut down his process on Monday morning with a re-commitment to Kentucky. This was not unexpected.
After he decided to de-commit from the Wildcats last month, Williams maintained that they were still his No. 1 team. The reason for the de-commitment was because he had so many schools wanting to recruit him and have the opportunity to change his mind. He didn’t feel right listening to other schools while still being committed to Kentucky, so he decided to open his recruitment back up. Kentucky never lost its lead, even with schools like Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, LSU and Tennessee in pursuit.
Those schools won’t change Williams’ mind now. He’s locked in with Kentucky.
Alabama, like it does with nearly every quarterback it recruits, wanted him to come to camp next month to further evaluate him. Make no mistake about it though, Williams was a top quarterback option for the Tide despite his 3-star ranking, which I expect to rise.
So, where does that leave Alabama for its 2018 quarterback? Let’s look at some options:

Tanner McKee, 4-star prospect from Centennial High School (Corona, Calif.)
McKee took a recent visit to Alabama and said he can ‘absolutely’ see himself there.
The nation’s No. 7 pro-style quarterback in the Class of 2018 is going to have a unique path. McKee is a devout Mormon. He will do a two-year mission after he graduates from high school. The plan right now is to commit to a school before the year ends, but signing a National Letter of Intent with that university remains an unknown.
Effectively, McKee will be a Class of 2020 prospect. McKee makes sense for Alabama because the depth chart doesn’t really matter to him, unlike the true 2018 prospects.

Jacob Sirmon, 5-star prospect from Bothell (Wash.) High School — committed to Washington
Sirmon, the nation’s No. 3 pro-style prospect, committed to the Huskies in 2015 and has remained firm in his commitment, but he’s still showing interest in Alabama.
“They talk to me quite frequently,” Sirmon said. “They were actually up (at my school) this past Friday. It’s good to see some interest from that side. I respect the coaches there. They obviously have a great program and do lots of good things.”
It’s not going to be easy for the Tide to flip him from his commitment, however. Sirmon has visited Washington countless times because his high school is around 20 minutes away from the college. Because of that, he’s become so familiar with the coaching staff that he’s already learning plays and breaking down film. He also has several connections to the school through his father, David, who is an associate professor in UW’s Foster School of Business; his uncle, Peter, who coached linebackers at the school in 2013; his grandfather played for the Huskies; and his cousin, Jack, is also committed to the Huskies in the Class of 2018.
There are lots of obstacles in the way to make Sirmon change his mind on Washington, but the good news is that he’s listening and talking to Alabama.

Joey Gatewood, 4-star prospect from Bartram Trail High School (Jacksonville, Fla.) — committed to Auburn
The Crimson Tide extended an offer to 4-star Bartram Trail High School (Jacksonville, Fla.) quarterback Joey Gatewood this past Thursday.
“I think they offered last year, but there wasn’t much communication so (offensive line coach Brent Key) re-affirmed it to me again today,” Gatewood said.
Gatewood has been committed to Auburn since December of 2015 but has shown interest in other schools. Even with showing interest in other programs, he has stuck with Auburn through rumors of Gus Malzahn being on the hot seat and former offensive coordinator Rhett Lashlee leaving for a job with Connecticut. The latter may have been the biggest blow for Gatewood because of their close relationship, but Gatewood remained with Auburn.
The nation’s No. 1 athlete is expected to visit Tuscaloosa next month for camp. Could the Tide flip him?

Jack Tuttle, 4-star prospect from Mission Hills High School (San Marcos, Calif.) — committed to Utah
Outside linebackers coach Tosh Lupoi visited Tuttle’s school last week. Alabama is hoping Tuttle comes to camp next month to throw for the coaches. If that happens, he may be one to watch despite him saying all of the right things to the media about his commitment to Utah.
Tuttle is highly regarded by the Alabama staff.
