Apparently Alabama is out of the picture for New Jersey Safety Markquese Bell even though he doesn't hold an offer yet.

Alabama commit Chadarius Townsend, a 2017 four-star athlete from Tanner (Ala.), had a big night last Friday in the Rattlers 35-14 win over East Limestone. Townsend rushed for 195 yards, accounting for four touchdowns in the process. The 7-2 Rattlers kickoff their playoff run on Friday against Sulligent.

Game Highlights

ETA: He's a mean arse CB.

Safety Maleik Gray, a Tennessee commit, says Alabama is recruiting him the hardest. He plans on visiting for either the Mississippi State or Auburn game.

Well one thing is for certain. We plan on signing a safety.

We're going after every top safety in the country, it looks like.

Perception is reality for a number of these kids. And when a guy gets in their ear and says, "Bama is going to bulk you up to eat blockers, we are going to let you pin your ears back and get after the quarterback" that might hit home more than we as Bama fans are willing to admit

That is 110% accurate....and I think finally with last year and this year's emergence of J Allen and TWill as both legit pass rush threats that can be game changers, it's finally starting to get harder and harder to make that case against Alabama.

Hank South was asked in his chat who would be the next prospect he would CB to Alabama and he said Chris Allen.

Thoughts?

Well, if Bama closes that strong its another amazing class no doubt.

Adding BOTH Allen and Parks is insane. Both of those guys are going to be monsters and that may be an understatement.

If Bama could take two more I would love to have Solomon and Gibbs. I dont think Harris is a good fit for Bama at safety.

Does anyone know what level of competition Solomon plays against ? If he is playing vs good competition then he is a damn nightmare.

He is really quick off the ball, and he is devastatingly powerful. Really disruptive, and literally mauls his way into the backfield. He plays too high, but hes so strong he is getting away with it in HS. It looks like he is playing vs scrubbs so either he is making them look like scrubbs or they are.

Mathis can really run for a big guy, and he has a very good motor. Watching Mathis play you can tell he loves the game. He plays with a lot of passion, and really gets after it.

I thought Bama was expected to sign another 5* OL also ?

Solomon plays against very good competition. I agree with TS on Solomon. Best DL in the country right now, and that includes Marvin Wilson.

I do think we land either Isaiah Wilson or Trey Smith, and that Wills will go elsewhere.

One more thought on Najee. I agree with what Bama K has said about him. He makes his visit for our gam against the Barn, we sign him. He doesn't, then we need to get Akers. That will be the tell-tale sign.

Whether you guys like it or not, we're about to put the full court press on Moultry. They've seen him live and think he's big time. Now, whether that makes him #1, 2, or 3 in the LB pecking order, I don't know yet.

And I've not really heard from some of the guys I listen to on where we stand with Chris Allen.

So many new S names popping up and changes in evaluation that I couldn't even begin to guess how that works out. I do know that we're still very much in the mix for Stevens.

I also agree with TS on Ruggs. He's already very very good, and is just learning how to play the game. I like him as much as Jeff Thomas as a player. More overall since he'll be qualified, and supposedly has superb intangibles/work ethic/leadership qualities.

If I had to pick 3 more DL on top of Byers (crossing fingers that he qualifies), I'd prefer Ray, Solomon (slightly over Marvin Wilson, but would happily take either if they wanted to commit), and Kinlaw.

Parks will be a DE sooner rather than later if we sign him.

The Auburn SEC Country guy said this about Moultry yesterday in his Mock Class article:

quote:

4-star LB Tadarian Moultry*, Jackson-Olin High (Ala.): Moultry committed to Auburn in May. He’ll take visits to Missouri, Cal and Florida after the season, but that’s purely for the rare experience to journey elsewhere with family.

The Auburn guy also said this in a recruiting mailbag a couple days ago:

quote:

Tadarian Moultry has skyrocketed up charts, and some even believe he could crack a 5-star rating when it’s all said and done. Moultry and Britt have a strong bond with one another — they always said they’d be a package deal — and they’re the No. 1 and No. 2 inside linebackers in the state of Alabama for this class. Big move by Williams to land both.

Who won’t choose Alabama?

On Wednesday, we released what Alabama’s projected 2017 signing class will look like come National Signing Day.

Obviously, Alabama can’t sign every single player it wants or every player who’s interested in the Tide. But, the players listed below are still associated with Alabama in where their recruitment stands as of writing this.

Here are the 10 highest-rated uncommitted recruits who I don’t believe will choose Alabama:

Marvin Wilson, 5-star defensive tackle, Bellaire, Texas

Out of all the uncommitted prospects in the country, the one player I get asked the most about is Marvin Wilson. I’ve stated for several months that Alabama is not a serious player here, despite what he or others may say.

Wilson is NOT Alabama’s top defensive tackle target. It’s Aubrey Solomon, who makes this list below. In his most-recent interview with recruiting websites, Wilson mentioned Florida State, Ohio State, LSU, Southern California, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Texas and Texas A&M as the schools coming after him the hardest. There was no mention of Alabama.

It’s not even a guarantee that Wilson takes an official visit to Alabama this fall before announcing his commitment on National Signing Day.

At least the staff feels the same way we do.

Cam Akers, 5-star running back, Clinton, Miss.

Akers was once committed to Alabama and is expected to take an official visit to Tuscaloosa at some point before making a commitment, but it’s not likely he chooses the Tide once again. The only way I see Akers in this class is if Najee Harris flips his commitment, which is possible. I don’t think that’s going to happen, but if it does, I would be stunned to see Alabama not put the full-court press on Akers.

Ohio State, Florida State, LSU, Tennessee, Georgia are in better shape to land the nation’s No. 2 running back than Alabama at this time.
