You know me. I'll be behind the in-state kids first and foremost.

Putting 1+1+1 together from 3 different people, looks more and more likely Nico Collins is headed away from the state of Alabama at this time. By Aug 15th, we should have Shavers, Ruggs and Smith in the fold.......and waiting on Jeudy to go public. Whether they add a Thomas or not will be based on missed at other positions. (Think missing another elite lineman or two and not settling for lesser talent at that position)

Is it Collins who doesn't want Alabama of Alabama who doesn't want Collins?

My guess is taking Shavers was the staffing knowing the Collins situation. Similar body and skill set

This week the nation’s top football prospects head to the Nike World Headquarters for The Opening Finals with quarterbacks and receivers arriving in Beaverton, Ore. for check-in on July 5 and everyone else getting to “football heaven” on July 7.

The highly-competitive camp ends on the 10th.

Ten things I’ll be keeping an eye out for.

These are from Steve Wiltfong. I'm going to post the ones mentioning our commits/targets.

I doubt there is a gap between the nation’s No. 1 overall recruit in Alabama running back commit Najee Harris and fellow five-star Cam Akers who is the country’s No. 2 running back. Akers secured a 141.33 Nike Football Rating back in New Orleans to back up his outstanding tape. Harris didn’t post a 40-time at the Oakland Regional but had an impressive 4.16 shuttle and 32.2 inch vertical at 6-foot-3, 226-pounds. However the 5-foot-11, 212-pound Akers had a 4.09 shuttle and a 40.6 vertical. Harris and five-star linebacker Dylan Moses check in as the nation’s top two recruits and with what Akers has done on the field and during camp season says his name should be right next to theirs.

247Sports has Bellaire (Texas) Episcopal five-star defensive tackleMarvin Wilson ranked as the No. 12 prospect in America heading into the event. Like Akers, I expect he’ll make a case to be in our top three if not No. 1 overall coming out. Meanwhile five-star defensive backJeffrey Okudah and five-star linebacker Baron Browning will be looking to show that they’re No. 1 in Texas as it looks like a special year in the Lone Star State.

A lot of buzz that Donovan Peoples-Jones or Tee Higgins is the nation’s top receiver. The 6-foot-2, 192-pound Peoples-Jones is No. 1 according to the industry generated 247Sports Composite and the defending Nike Football Rating Champion at last year’s event with a score of 149.49. 247Sports ranks the 6-foot-4 ½, 188-pound Higgins as the nation’s No. 1 receiver. I’m looking forward to seeing how Alabama commit Tyrell Shavers stacks up. Another big-timer from Texas, I love the Lewisville (Texas) High standout on film and seeing that 4.38 he ran at the Dallas Regional at 6-foot-6, 202-pounds makes me love him more. That 138.00 Nike Football Rating and film looks like a five-star talent to me. Can’t wait to see him compete in person.

I’m looking forward to hearing what the nation’s No. 2 dual-threat quarterback per the 247Sports Composite in Tua Tagovailoa has to say. He arrives committed to Alabama but I ultimately believe he signs with Oregon or USC. He’ll be surrounded by Crimson Tide commits on his Vapor Speed team at the event.

Collins has told at least one reporter that I talk with that he wants to play out of state.........Bama will still try and recruit, but unlike last year, I doubt Bama is willing to pass on too many waiting for his decision.

We recently passed on Jeff Thomas (grade concerns) and Mannie Netherly (too low on the board) and feel confident in Ruggs, Smith and Jeudy. Add Shavers and that's a monster class at WR. Add a Collins or a Thomas and that's just icing on the cake.

If he's camping and we get an OV, I just find it hard to believe we don't get him. Saban is hell bent on keeping the kids within radius of Tuscaloosa and Birmingham.
