Put it this way. Until about 10 years ago Alabama routinely signed top prospects from Mississippi. It has now become far and few between. What's odd is that it doesn't even correlate with Ole Miss or State being good. It just suddenly dried up. That's even with Saban, possibly being one of the beat recruiters in college football history, coaching Alabama during the same time period.

Bama was able to pull Knott from Ole Mi$$.
Saban: 1
Ole Mi$$: 15
Saban: 1
Ole Mi$$: 15

This past class was a total shock with Nott, Lashley, and Davis. More Mississippi kids than the previous several years combined.

Let's be real, guys. Who wants to go to Bama, when you can eat at Red Lobster for free in Oxford

I thinks Davis and Lashley was more a battle with MSU then Ole Mi$$.

True, but Alabama has lost guys to both of them. Battles that were being won on a regular basis prior to about 10 years ago. What changed?

So is TSWSNBN dead?

If you follow recruiting closely you've become accustomed to top 10 or top five lists -- sometimes top 20 -- from highly recruited prospects. From long snappers? Not so much.
That's because 2017 Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy long snapper Thomas Fletcher isn't like most other long snappers. While the position doesn't often warrant large offer sheets, Fletcher is the exception with six listed offers on his 247Sports player page.
On Wednesday afternoon, Fletcher dropped his top five list on Twitter.
Making the cut are Alabama, Florida State, Oregon, Portland State and Texas A&M, in no particular order.
Fletcher, a native of the state of Washington, recently earned an offer from Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban himself during Bama's kicking camp.

If Bama takes a long snapper in this class, we might sign 30 recruits.

I'm not sure, I think it might have been condensed to just Twitter.
I don't have any subscriptions anymore, so I'm no help

fricking liar. We all know Portland State is the leader. Those bastards have been a thorn in our side for years!

The country’s top-ranked offensive guard and a US Army All-American, Davis has some family ties to Ohio (his father, Duane, was born in Cleveland and his grandfather, NFL Hall of Fame defensive end Willie Davis, played for the Browns in the 1950s) but the sudden emergence of Ohio State as a top contender for his services is a surprise to many. Alabama and UCLA have the only 247Sports.com crystal ball predictions at this point, but according to multiple sources close to the situation, the Buckeyes may have moved into the mix as the team to beat.

Interesting. One of the guys that I like to listen to says that we haven't really turned up the heat on him yet, but that we do like him a good bit.
If you've seen our recent OL classes, that's probably been the single position that we've recruited the best in the past couple cycles. And with two 5*s already committed, we're being incredibly picky. To be honest, I'm not really sure where the pecking order stands at OL right now. We all assume that Davis is high on the pecking order since he's a 5*, but we've seen that Saban's board is frequently very different from the recruiting gurus (i.e. letting 4* Tyrell Shavers commit, but higher ranked 4/5* Jeff Thomas not being allowed to commit).
