Speaking of, any word on Charles Baldwin? The add/drop date for this semester was two days ago. I'm not sure if this means he is out, or if there is some kind of waiver for it.

High school coach confident Alabama 4-star RB commit will qualify academically

When he gets back home to North Carolina, he will continue to prepare for his next attempt at the ACT.The four-star prospect has yet to receive the ACT score he needs to enroll at Alabama, but will retake the test Feb. 6, his high school coach, Brandon Allen, told AL.com.

Emmons needs a score of 17 or 18, Allen said. He got a 15 or 16 the last time he took the test, Allen said. Even if Emmons doesn't get the score he needs Feb. 6, Allen said he believes Emmons can still retake the test another two or three times.

"I'm not too concerned," Allen said confidently. "We've got a wonderful lady at our school that works and — not just our student-athletes — but she works a lot with our student-athletes just to prepare. B.J.'s going to be working extensively with her over the next two weeks just trying to do some of those things as far as getting him prepared. I think that they've mapped out a good plan for him over the next two weeks to get him prepared."

Tide outside linebackers coach Tosh Lupoi, Emmons' primary recruiter, recently visited Emmons in North Carolina, Allen said. Emmons, who committed in July, is firmly committed to Alabama. Ole Miss and South Carolina recently contacted Emmons, but Emmons said he told them to "leave me alone."

"Even after he made a verbal commitment, there were still some schools — and I certainly don't want to mention anybody — but there were still some schools vying to try and get him to decommit or to sway," Allen said, "but he's not (even talking to other schools)."

4* LB Jaleel Laguins (UGA Commit) couldn't make it due to weather. Hank says he's trying to make it by tomorrow or early next week.

Landon Dickerson and Ahmmon Richards both made it.

Mack Wilson is on his way

According to Hank Dontavious Jackson and D'Vaughn Pennamon both made it from Texas. He has yet to confirm on whether Shyheim Carter, Nigel Knott and Jamar King made it.

Scott Lashley made it and posted a video of him shooting hoops in the game room with CNS. At the beginning of the video you can see Jamar King behind Lashley.

Also Mecole Hardman will arrive tomorrow as long as the weather holds up

From some dude on BOL:

quote:

An FSU source thinks BAMA leads for Gavin and Hall.

In Gavin's case they said the BAMA staff used FSU's WR depth chart against them and showed him BAMA only had 3 receivers returning. FSU has a plan to counter that this weekend and hopes to remind Gavin of his familiarity and comfortability with their campus and program.

We finally got a commitment

quote:

PLANET NINE COMMITS TO ALABAMA
IT MAY USHER IN THE END OF DAYS, BUT THAT'S NOT REALLY MUCH DIFFERENT THAN A TYPICAL ALABAMA SEASON ANYWAY

In a move that came somewhat of a surprise, newly discovered Planet Nine has committed to play football at Alabama. The massive celestial body, which goes by Nibiru with its other planet friends and also A'Shawn Robinson, would be the first planet to play football by our reckoning.

Coming from a cold region of deep space beyond the Kuiper Belt, Planet Nine has a mass of approximately 10 times that of the Earth, but displays exceptional athleticism while moving through space. "I think it's a real testament to Nibiru that it can cover that kind of ground while maintaining a solar orbit somewhere between 10,000 and 20,000 Earth years," said Alabama head coach Nick Saban, all while committing an NCAA violation for discussing an unsigned prospect.

"That's the kind of commitment that we look for here at Alabama, a commitment to putting in the work and getting better every day over many millennia."

The planetary commitment ceremony was lightly covered by traditional media for obvious reasons related to interplanetary travel limitations, but we were able to obtain a video clip of Saban taking the big phone call from the planet. Nick Saban, pictured, is elated to learn about the planet's commitment to the Tide.

The planet was unrated by all the major scouting services, but has all the measurables that speak to an easy translation to the FBS level. The only real concern would be that an object that massive coming that close to Earth would cause a cataclysmic event that would undoubtedly wipe out all human life. In that sense, it's easy to see why Nibiru is such a good fit in Tuscaloosa.

Saban also said that he was happy to find someone a little outside the Crimson Tide's traditional recruiting footprint.

"We work every day to try to find the best players that are the best fit for the program. We'll go anywhere we need to to find the right player. I'd like to keep expanding our scouting radius beyond the cold reaches of deep space and maybe start hitting those hard-to-reach places like Indiana."

Despite the lack of a recruiting reputation or anything in the way of game tape, this has to be considered a win for Alabama. They're rolling on the recruiting trail after winning their fourth championship in the past seven years, and that's the kind of profile you need if you're going to have an entire planet eating up blockers as a true nose tackle.

Attempts to contact Nibiru were unreturned, but my home printer turned on at 4 a.m. last night and printed 34 pages about the earth's poles shifting while ending with "Roll Tide."

Kind of disappointed that Planet 9 isn't a five star.

Chef on Bol posted this about Kongbo.

- Kongbo is still an option for us. jmo, but CNS finally seeing him in person this week changed our evaluation on him. think we realized he wouldn't be a de (he is closer to 230 than 260), but would be a jack lb for us. we need a juco de, not a juco jack lb. we could still take him depending on what happens with other prospects.

Everyone just needs to chill. They all had long nights on sorority row and the strip. Most are probably just waking up in some strange house off campus and trying to slam Powerades to re-hydrate to get to the parade on time.

Nation’s No. 1 player leaning toward taking final official visit to Alabama
quote:

Just like the national championship game this past season, Alabama could edge out Clemson once again. This time, it’s off the field for a five-star prospect’s final visit.

Alabama’s Nick Saban, offensive line coach Mario Cristobal and defensive line coach Bo Davis headed to Paramus, N.J. Wednesday with one goal in mind — get the nation’s No. 1 player, Rashan Gary, back on their campus one last time before signing day. It looks like the Crimson Tide coaches have made significant headway on that goal.

Gary’s mother, Jennifer Coney, who is currently on Michigan’s campus with her son on an unofficial visit, was not available for an interview, but she told SEC Country through text message that Gary is now leaning toward taking his final official visit to Alabama over Clemson.

The five-star defensive tackle from Paramus Catholic will be in Atlanta on Jan. 28 to accept his award from the Touchdown Club of Atlanta for being named the National Lineman of the Year. The following day, he could be on Alabama’s campus for the rest of the weekend before making his final decision on National Signing Day just three days later.

At this point in his recruitment, most in the recruiting industry feel like Michigan holds and edge when it comes time for him to announce his commitment.

Coney has been most impressed with Michigan’s academic pitch, and that’s a huge sticking point when it comes down to her son’s decision.

“They (Michigan) have the Ross School of Business. The way their academics is structured I just feel that the weight of the degree is better,” Coney told SEC Country in November. “That’s my feeling. I may be wrong. That’s just how I feel. I feel Michigan’s academic plan, plan for success, not even for football players but as for student body in general is just important.”

You better believe if the Crimson Tide hosts Gary and his mother on campus the weekend before signing day, several academic advisers pitching Alabama’s business school as strongly as they can to get the 6-foot-5, 293-pounder to commit.

Gary will announce his final decision on CBS Sports Network and answer questions from his Twitter followers.

Same. Wish we would just give the mom a new house, car, and a huge lump of money and be done with it.
