RASHAN GARY COMMENTS AFTER SEC TOUR
A.P. SteadhamA.P. Steadham
BamaMag.com

BamaMag.com spoke briefly with the mother of Rashan Gary, the top prospect in the class of 2016, about the factors his camp is searching for in a university following a trio of SEC visits.

Scout.com five-star defensive lineman and No. 1 class of 2016 overall prospect in the country, Rashan Gary (Paramus Catholic HS, NJ) and his Mother, Jennifer Coney, visited a trio of SEC Western Division schools recently.

Alabama, Auburn and Ole Miss were part of the tour. Ms. Coney told BamaMag.com all the trips were awesome but, "We are no further along than we were when we left home but we have a better idea of what he's (Rashan) looking for and his must haves and can do with outs."

Some of the factors she would consider most important are "Family environment, great academics and academic support, good living quarters and not to be rushed away from the head coach like he's not worthy of his time."

AnalysisGary is a mix of power, speed, athleticism and explosion. He has great speed and his ability to chase a play down are exceptional. He ran a 4.74 in the 40-yard dash at The Opening in July, and he plays fast. He can use his strength to overpower an offensive lineman, he has a tremendous change of direction and his explosion is off the charts. -- Brian Dohn

The wish list of Rashan Gary according to his Mother includes, "He is interested in the defensive scheme and how he fits. He wants to be comfortable with his teammates, defensive line coach and coordinator and that the places he is expected to go are in close proximity because he is not going to have a car his first year and doesn't want to depend on anyone but himself for transportation. He wants to be at a place he can be happy attending if something happens and football God forbid is taken away."

CAVIN RIDLEY IS A HOT COMMODITY
Corey BenderCorey Bender
Florida Recruiting Analyst

Big-bodied wide receiver and Deerfield Beach (Fla.) standout, Cavin Ridley, is equipped with an elite offer sheet.

Fans of the recruiting process will have to wait a little longer before Cavin Ridley comes forward and reveals his highly-anticipated college decision. The big-bodied wide receiver out of Deerfield Beach (Fla.) High was ready to join forces with one lucky program, but has since pushed back his decision and doesn't want to rush into anything.

Ridley, the brother of former five-star prospect and Alabama wide receiver, Calvin Ridley, is fresh off an Ohio State offer and labeled as the fourth-ranked wide receiver in the Sunshine State for the class of 2016. Ridley is a reliable target with strong hands who can out-muscle most defensive backs at the prep level.

Analysis: Big, physical wide receiver who looks like a linebacker. Very physical at the line and tough to jam. May not text well, but plays fast and can explode off the line. Consistently gets behind coverage and can get over defenders. Has very strong hands and catches most footballs within reach. Can adjust to the ball and can get yards after catch. Not a lot of wiggle, more straightline speed, and needs to improve route running.

Possessing a congregation of offers from the likes of Alabama, Florida, Miami, LSU, Auburn, Georgia and Tennessee, Ridley says all schools are on a level playing field with his senior campaign on the horizon, but Alabama and Florida are two schools often mentioned in his recruitment.

Ridley, 6-foot-1.5, 195 pounds, has yet to lock in any additional visit dates, but hopes to catch a glimpse of Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi State and LSU prior to returning to the classroom in the fall.

In the video below, Ridley talks about his upcoming senior year at Deerfield Beach, the decision to push back his college announcement, his offers from Alabama, Ohio State and Florida, and more.

I didn't realize that this was a part of the camp combine.

I'm not sure why they talk about Oregon recruits on this link, because there are far more Bama commits.

Just waiting on a team to tell Gary he can play DE for them in a 43 to win favor. Hell, tell him he can play JACK

He can with his speed and aggressiveness, but you're cutting that in half against tackles opposed to guards. He'll wreck them Sapp style...

Saban typically hangs out with the blue chip recruits for over an hour. That doesn't sound like him.

I wonder who they were referring to.

Side note: Apparently the Michigan Rivals writer is saying it's a Michigan/Auburn race. I read that on the Auburn recruiting board.

A third team (neither Alabama nor Texas A&M) has been getting indications that Little will not sign with Texas A&M and that program feels as though Alabama is in the best position to steal the five-star prospect. That info coupled with Hank's note has given me enough confidence to make the flip prediction.
