A DL that would be cool to see would be if we went 4-3 at times and went Allen and Hand at DE and Robinson and Reed at DT.

That'd be nice. I'm sure we'll have a nickel package that looks like that in a 425 alignment.

Reed has spent all his time at DE. Our NTs are Ivory, Lake, Frazier, and Smith

I'm excited about our secondary. I think Geno and Landon are going to cause a lot of problems for passing games. I love Jarrick at Star. He is one of our best tacklers and is a good enough athlete to cover backs and tight ends.

This seems to be the one position on Sabans defense we have problems attracting top level talent, even though those who have played it seem to have done relatively well in the draft

A true NG doesn't grow on trees. It is almost more beneficial to find them at the JuCo level than in the prep ranks. Payne is unique in that regard.

I know.

I'd still like to see him at Nose.

True enough but what are our options at this point if we don't get Payne? Robinson is likely gone after next year. Reed seems to be promising. The others have potential but havn't quite got to the level we need them to be at IMO

Frazier and Smith have good potential, but a lot of guys we've pulled had good potential. Lake was supposed to be the guy, but he just hasn't come around yet.

According to Barton Simmons, Rico Mcgraw is close to decommitting from Georgia and committing to Bama. This should be happening within the next 24 hours.

Ivory and Lake were both "diamond in the rough" guys. I don't think fan excitement has ever been very high for either one. Smith falls into that category too. Frazier would not fall into that category. Highly rated and recruited by all the big boys. He also tore it up at Army AA practices. He just hasn't gotten the love from Bama fans because we had been so fixated on Elam for so long.

Odd to me that we would still go after Rico after landing Harrison. Unless we like him at CB or expect SBB to not be in the class

Which is unfortunately the wrong direction he wanted to go in. He set out to lose weight, not get bigger.

Do we have a realistic shot at landing Sheffield? I'd like to think we do with the track team and I'd hate for Rico to flip so soon if we did.

I was told vaguely of a flip last night, guess it's Rico.
