ive lived almost everywhere in the us, west coast, pacific northwest, deep south, midewest, southwest and texas, great plains, rust belt, and nowhere is significantly better in all ways than others. all are good in their own way and all suck in their own way. Ive ended up in the place i think sucks the least and has the most going for it for me(pacific notrthwest). as an amatuer photographer, its great to be able to drive a little ways and see this.

I live outside of Asheville, which is a really nice city, but the hollers of WNC put the poorest of Alabama to shame. The mountainfolk can be a little scary.
Except there are very few hollers left in WNC. Most of the surrounding areas is being cleared for ridge top homes. You name it Burnsville, Spruce Pine, Brevard, Highlands, Lake Toxaway and just about every other place now has the multimillion dollar properties throughout the area. I would wager that some of the most expensive properties in the state lay in the mtns.
A go find me a stat showing me that NC or any of its counties in the mtns are poorer than counties of the deep south. I would like to see that.

And since we are talking about NC the poorest counties are in the middle north part of the state or down east.

Do you ever go to the Bama fan Meetups? I can't find anything about a UA alumni group in the area.

Doesn't matter but on 247sports i think your confusing the lower gray number for previous ranking. That's the new composite ranking. They usually have green or red arrows with plus or minus numbers with the new rankings to let you know where they were previously. For some reason they didn't do it this time or at least that part hasn't yet updated. Barnett was actually in the 50's. That is one heck of a jump.
