bs, you are one of my favorite posters on the site. Did you have family at UA? You seem to like us more than the average Vandy fan.

Most of my family is Ole Miss or Vandy (yeah, yeah, worlds collide) though I may have a cousin or two that went to Bama. I'd have to check. But I grew up a huge football fan and I've always loved Bama's tradition and fans. Plus I dated a Bama girl for a year and a half, so I spent many weekends and summer months in Tuscaloosa. Great place, great fans, great bars along the Strip.

ETA: I should add, beautiful campus and beautiful girls. My god...the girls. Once, I brought down a friend who had lived his entire life in New York before attending Vandy and we sat out on the steps of Denny Chimes late in the afternoon, watching the girls jogging around the Quad. Now, I obviously couldn't watch too closely, seeing as we were waiting for my girlfriend to get out of class, but he just sat there with his jaw hanging open, barely able to believe what he was seeing. I think his life changed fundamentally for the better that day.

In the end the staff went hard after Barnett once he decommitted. That is while Waller was still in play. I trust the staff and they seem to believe he has upside as well.

Bateman, Cornwell, and Barnett all wanted or want to be at UA. To me that is the most important factor. And to who thinks Waller may be better, he may but again we were only a backup plan and I would rather have the kid that wants to be at UA.

If you go back and look at Town's recruitment it appears the kid always liked USC but coaching stability was an issue. Once that seemed to be resolved he was gone.

I am probably a sunshine pumper because he really hasn't shown it with his current style but I still think Barnett has the highest upside of any QB in this class or next year for Bama bangs. His hair is raw and he currently wears it high/back but if he wants it and the staff thinks he can pull it off then in Saban I trust.

Ive been away from this thread for the last week or so, been real life busy.

Everyone thinking Carr and Harris headed to Lee County on Tuesday?

Has anything changed with Richmond? In a perfect world Carr could go to awbren, Harris to bama, and Richmond to bama, but the world doesnt seem perfect right now.

Alabama WR commit Daylon Charlot is in Bradenton, Fla. for the IMG 7-on-7 National Championship this weekend. The 6-foot, 186-pounder received an offer from LSU earlier this summer at the Tigers' camp, leading some to speculate that the in-state school could flip the 4-star. 247Sports National Recruiting Insider Ryan Bartow caught up with Charlot to get the latest.

Where does Charlot stand in his pledge to the Tide?

"It's solid," he said, citing his close relationship with Alabama assistants Billy Napier and Burton Burns

"They're just great people. We have a bond. (Napier is) like my guardian down there. We talk a lot with each other and have gotten close, also with Coach Burns."

Charlot has said he plans to take officials, but isn't sure of his plans. With several programs still giving chase, who poses the biggest threat to the Tide?

"It would be Tennessee and then UCLA."

Charlot ranks as the no. 135 overall prospect in the industry-generated 247Sports Composite.

Alabama WR commit Calvin Ridley is at the IMG 7-on-7 National Championship in Bradenton, Fla. this weekend. The top 100 prospect did not do interviews, but did answer some questions telling Noles247's Chris Nee that he's 'pretty firm' with Alabama, plans to visit Tuscaloosa in July, and may stop by FSU on the way home.

Nee writes, "Ridley is an outstanding wide receiver. Good size, explosive, and does an excellent job of competing for the ball. He does his best work down the field where he regularly shakes defensive backs giving him a nice cushion in coverage. From a recruiting standpoint, he said he is pretty firm to Alabama but intends to continue checking out others. He recently saw Ohio State. He plans to see Alabama in July and visit Florida State on his way back home. With the Seminoles, he said he has had regular contact with Lawrence Dawsey and built a good relationship with the wide receiver coach."

Ridley and teammate Shawn Burgess-Becker committed to the Tide on April 19 while at A-Day. He ranks as the no. 41 overall prospect according to the 247Sports Composite.

Agreed. I would be more worried if he continued to visit the same school over and over again. Dude's in a new town each week. I think he is just enjoying the process. Can't blame him. His comments usually appear pretty solid to us.

'The Ohio State offer means a lot': Four-star DE Mekhi Brown, an Alabama commit, now has thinking to do: Buckeyes recruiting

Four-star defensive end Mekhi Brown of Columbus (Ga.) Carver, an Alabama commit, camped at Ohio State on Thursday. He said he now has something thinking to do.

'The Ohio State offer means a lot': Four-star DE Mekhi Brown, an Alabama commit, now has thinking to do: Buckeyes recruiting

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Mekhi Brown had an inkling that it was coming, but that didn't make it any less shocking when it happened.

So when Urban Meyer sought out the four-star defensive end of Columbus (Ga.) Carver to inform him he had an Ohio State offer, it took Brown a moment for it to sink it.

"It was great," Brown told cleveland.com on Thursday evening. "It was surreal."

Of course Brown was going to get an offer. He made an effort to travel to Columbus to camp even though he's one of the most established talents in the 2015 recruiting class.

Oh, and Brown – who is rated by Rivals.com the No. 3 weakside defensive end in his class – is committed to Alabama.

Though he maintains that he's still "100 percent" committed to the Crimson Tide, he isn't done with the recruiting process.

Not by any stretch of the imagination.

Brown has a top five that consists of Alabama, Ohio State, Florida State, Stanford and Mississippi State and he plans on taking official visits to all of them in the fall. That means a return trip to Columbus to see Ohio State, a team Brown said isn't going away soon.

In fact, the Buckeyes are behind Alabama but ahead of the rest of the teams still alive in Brown's recruitment.

"Ohio State is second (on my list). Coach Meyer said he likes my film, skillset and work ethic," Brown said. "It was very humbling the Ohio State offer means a lot. Ohio state is very prestigious.

"(In the fall) it's going to be a lot of thinking and visits."

Alabama commit Jonathan Ledbetter and friend Russell Ude are set to take a west coast tour this week, visiting USC, UCLA, and Cal. The pair has also mentioned visiting Stanford while in California.
Ledbetter committed to the Tide in January and has since taken visits to Auburn and Georgia. The Top247 prospect maintains his commitment to the Tide and last visited Tuscaloosa in early June for the Tide's first summer camp session. He ranks as the no. 72 overall prospect in the industry-generated 247Sports Composite

The three star offensive lineman isn't sure yet when a decision may come, and told 247Sports he could commit "whenever it feels right."

t's still early yet for Lake Stevens (Lake Stevens, Wa.) quarterback Jacob Eason but if you look at the five-star prospect's Crystal Ball, it appears that Georgia may be emerging as the team to beat. Three straight picks have gone in the Bulldogs favor with the selections being made by 247Sports National Analysts Barton Simmons and Kipp Adams and Dawgs247 Recruiting Analyst Jake Rowe.
Alabama and Notre Dame are two other oft mentioned teams when discussing Eason's recruitment. Alabama received a commitment from 2015 quarterback Blake Barnett earlier this week and it appears as if Notre Dame is heavily trending with another 2015 signal caller, Travis Waller. The Irish currently takes up 92 percent of Waller's Crystal Ball. Georgia is not taking a quarterback in the current class.

Eason told Dawgs247 recently that he would be visiting Georgia and Alabama in July.
