I think we are still an above avg defense and don’t necessarily HAVE to be as dominant as years passed. The only real difference is we have had a few players out of position at times and we are not nearly as physical as years past mainly from our LB corps

I would like to see more sustained drives, better running, etc. - but certainly can't complain about the offense.

I'm sure it plays a role, in addition to being on the field more - it can limit the time players / coaches have to make adjustments on the sidelines and talk things over.

That may have some impact given how young the defense is and as they haven't played together a whole lot. Hopefully a lot can get figured out in October.

what I really wonder is: if you could, would you tweak the offense so as not to score as quickly?

I know it sounds like a stupid question, but I am just curious.

Our offense was on the field based on game clock less then 11 minutes in the first but our D was on for more then 18 minutes.
We also had the ball at the end of the 1st quarter, so our defense had an extra commercial break.

Not really, i'd like to see a little more balance in terms of running and sustained drives. So I guess you could look at it that way, I may want to tweak it a little bit. Its not so much I wish we didn't score so fast, just would like to see proof that in short yardage or late in a game with a small lead, we will be able to run out the clock on the ground in a dominant fashion.

A big "problem" is that the opposing defenses thus far just haven't been able to tackle, so its hard to get a great feel for how much is the Bama O or if some of these long catch and run td's would just be a first down against better defenses.

Very true.

with all things considered, we have shown how quickly one can adapt/ become a big 12 team. ??

We're showing the Big 12 how to play Big 12 football..a potent offense, with a capable defense to get stops. We haven't been in a shootout all season...a regular thing in the big 12..Texas/ou sat

That's a great question.

Only thing I can think of would be to work more on the running game without "forcing it" like we did against Texas A&M by running directly into stacked fronts and run blitzes

It seems that teams are deciding to focus on stopping the run at all costs and just take their chances with the passing game. Until teams change that approach, I'm not sure if anything can be done to run the ball more.
