Your right. They should have left Hurts in.
Did I say that? No. Damn, you are so fricking dense. For the most part, Saban was going to play the safer option. That was Hurts through 95% of the season.

That play with the int was just a crap play. Let's roll everyone to the sideline with nobody open to the other side of the field...duh That play was run alot with Jalen... it should be burned from the playbook.

Jump ball that hit the receiver in the hand, could have been a catch.
It could have been a catch, but just as easily had been an INT. If 3 guys are covering one player, someone else is relatively wide open.

Maybe so, but it was still a horrible decision to throw it.

I can't get upset at a dude that is trying to get something going and make a play. Otherwise, you get a guy scared to do anything.. like Jalen. Even the greats make mistakes, but if you play scared... then you become a liability.

Hard to get upset, but it's easy to see why he wasn't starting.

You watched the 2nd half of the game last night? The 2nd half where he produced 26 points and a balanced offense that won the game? The 2nd half after the 1st half that produced no points, like 20 something yards passing, and virtually no offense at all? And from that you think it's easy to see why he wasn't starting?

Can y'all not fricking understand the situation? Saban is going to start the QB that takes care of the ball better even if it means potentially scoring fewer points. Dude is happy to play the field position game. I've never even said who I wanted to play. If you can't see why Tua wasn't starting, then you are letting your bias cloud your judgement.

I vehemently disagree. The difference in pocket awareness, making reads, touch, keeping eyes downfield at all times has been on display since Tua first stepped on the field.
I understand the protecting the ball better mindset, but not when their abilities are that drastically different. Fortunately for us, the right decision was made before it was too late.

Let me think about this for a few seconds
No turnovers, no offense, and zero points for a half
or
1 turnover, very good balanced offense, and 26 points in the half
Ok. Few seconds over. I'm going with good offense and 26 points, and I'll bet you that St Nick Saban will from this point forward. At least as long as Jalen Hurts and Tua Tagovailoa are the 2 choices.

C'mon man.....Jalen was the starter and had one loss last year.....Tua wasn't going to roll into the job Day 1 until Saban and Daboll could get him in and start working with him. Obviously, this kid is a special talent and Saban played that card when we were stalled out in 1H.
Jalen won a lot of games for us this year and got us to the game so lets remember that....

Maybe so, but Tua is also no longer a true freshman and they have another off-season to drill into him to take fewer risks and take better care of the ball. They will also have time to teach him to handle end of game scenarios better (like leaving your kicker enough time to attempt a kick)

Because Saban doesn't want to play freshman unless he's absolutely forced to, which he was.

pvilleguru,
Don’t keep doubling down on an idiotic position. It makes you look sort of ridiculous. One qb score 26, the other 0? In half a game?
Tua is 50 points better. Lol.
Don’t be a putz.

Yep.

Anyone screaming "why wasn't he starting?!" just isn't looking at this from Saban's point of view.

Same damn reason why he won't play a RB until they learn how to block.
