ACC

Key word ACC...
Buffalo would have been like the 7th or 8th place team in that conference

That would have been a damn good accomplishment for Buffalo.

Why do you think he’s any worse than Buzz or Pearl?

Worse than Pearl?? Is that even a serious ?

Bama could have hired Pearl....another failure by our AD! Look where Pearl is now and Bama used to beat auburn regularly! Hope all you sunshine pumpers enjoy being the laughing stock of SEC basketball. Maybe this new guy can draw up a successful inbounds play!

I think he's a damn good coach and comparing him to the other available coaches it's just splitting hairs over who you think is better.

Maybe so, but I just get so aggravated because Pearl was there for Bama’s taking and now auburn (of all teams) is benefiting because of it. Now we pass on Pitino and I’ll gurantee you another team will scoop him up and benefit!

Pitino would have been an exciting hire, but he's going to eventually get a show cause. He'll be 80 before that thing runs out

Both Pearl and Pitino would have been extremely tough sells for many of the BOT and many boosters. All of this "we could have gotten Pearl" bullshite is foolish. Few teams were willing to touch him, and there's way more than one or two good coaches out there.

I sure hope not but reality is setting in. Auburn and Pearl ar building a damn juggernaut and we are stuck hiring mid major coaches. It is embarrassing and pathetic. Not other way to say it. We should be bulldozing Coleman right now and building a new arena from scratch and we should have at least pretended we care about basketball and hire a coach from a major program who is a proven winner. But we don’t care enough to do these things so we will get mediocre to average results.

Finally...someone that gets it!! I knew I couldn’t be the only one. Sadly, we have a lot of sunshine pumping fans that just don’t understand.
Imagine the uproar had Bama hired some mid major, unproven type coach instead of Saban!!!

Those two scenarios aren't even close to comparable.

I think that most people agree that Coleman sucks and we need a new arena.

I think that most people agree that Pearl is one of the best coaches in the nation(referring to your post in your other thread.)

I think that most people choose not to bitch about it, and are hoping for the best in a situation that is largely beyond their control.

You obviously wanted us to put our eggs in either an aging coach that is a sleazy cheater(both in bball, and in his personal life,) or a coach that flamed out badly at his last job. I think that Oats is a good hire. Not great. But there is reason for optimism with him.

Agree. Both would have been tough sells for the BOT

Not really! Before Saban was hired Bama football was sitting still in the water! AD went out and hired a big name coach. He basically had to start all over and the rest is history! Had the AD not hired Saban, Bama more than likely is still treading water today!

What makes me angry is how for years we were just ignorant about Coleman. Nobody wanted to admit that it was a dump. We spent $50 million to basically put a new coat of paint on it in 2005. That renovation has been an albatross for the program because we couldn't move forward with a new arena due to the amount of money we sunk into it.
