Blitz Bama Blitz…have you ever noticed

that when we do blitz, 90% of the time the blitzing player looks to make contact with a defender instead of looking for a clear unabated path to the qb! Drives me nuts! Seems they square up with the blocker instead of trying to beat them around the edges. Maybe I’m just looking at it wrong but to me it sure seems that way!

They sure do love to focus on trying to knock the shite out of their blocker rather than the guy with the ball.

I'm sure our players know if they barely even shove the QB, these corrupt arse officials will hit them with a targeting foul.
Can't say that I blame them tbh.

That’s usually a sign that the other team identified the play and was prepared to put a hat on a hat. Wommack has a problem with being fairly predictable at times.

Bama is not very creative with blitzes. Maybe film will give Womack some ideas on things Kirby was doing with blitzes.

Kentucky: 3 Sacks
MSU: 6 Sacks
They were getting plenty of pressure with their Front-4.
Georgia did a good job, but also left 7 in protection several times.
Stockton also stepped up and took it under the chin in order to get off very impressive throws.
It’s human nature to try and find things to take out your frustrations on and lose the ability to be objective.
At the end of the day #5 on the 3rd and 17 and 3rd and 22 combined with the QB Reese INT being taken away is what lost that game from a defensive standpoint.

What does any of your dissertation have to do with last night? And Bama’s lack of success with the blitz?
You don’t know me. To insinuate I’m frustrated and lack objectivity is total projection on your part.
OP questioned why Bama blitzes aren’t more successful. I responded.

Bc they haven’t lacked success when bringing pressure……
It’s called “recency bias”.
I will post their blitz% and pressure created (#3 and #4 in the SEC respectively).
After UK, everyone was convinced this was a 2016 level defense.
Then they did a solid job vs MSU, but lost J Hill and Zulu in that UK win.
Then they allow 20 to Georgia with #5 and the DL being worn out, then when you take #1 and/or #0 out for a single play Georgia pops a long run.
It’s the same defense. Just need to put #5 on the bench and hopefully get J Hill and T Green back imo

Once again, you provide word salad without giving any concrete answer to the OP topic.
Topic ain’t about 5, 0, 1 or anyone in your dissertation, pt 2.
Bama blitzes always seem to get picked up. Almost never see a free blitzer getting to the QB, and that’s not just this season. Always seems to be a “delayed” blitz and it’s rarely successful.
OTOH, we seem to encounter it every week from our opponents. Thank goodness 12 has got more moves than ExLax!!

BAMA had 16 sacks going into the uga game. Blitzing is for teams who can't get to the QB without it.

Wommack needs to study how Brother Oliver dealt with Miami.

Every team in the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) uses a blitz at least on occasion depending on the opponent, down, and distance.

You’re exactly right. I love reading posts from guys like him. He knows most of the people he’s talking to have never coached a down of football, so he gets on here throwing around all these fancy X’s and O’s terms trying to sound like the smartest guy in the room.
I coached with a guy just like this for several years in high school. We called him a whiteboard genius. He could stand up there and draw up every coverage, front, stunt, and blitz you could think of and make himself sound like Bill Belichick. Problem was, when we got out on the practice field, he couldn’t coach his way out of a wet paper bag. Couldn’t teach it, couldn’t get his kids to execute it, and sure couldn’t make adjustments when things weren’t working on Friday nights.
That’s what cracks me up about guys like this. They take basic football concepts that coaches have been teaching for years, dress them up with a bunch of terminology, and act like they’re breaking down something nobody’s ever seen before. And because most of the people reading it don’t know the terminology, they eat it up. There’s a big difference between being able to draw it up on a board and actually coaching it on grass. Anybody who’s spent time in a coaches’ office knows exactly the type I’m talking about. Some guys are a whole lot better at sounding like a football coach than actually being one.

I think our D is to slow them down and let them stop themselves sometimes! GA looked like they were running practice plays all game!!! They gashed us allot in the fourth quarter. I think the D line is average and thin also! Was the same last year. Our O will need to win some games for us this year.

I had those same thoughts last night but decided to log off. I’m not going to engage in a pissing contest with any fellow bama fan.
I also knew a few genius coaches, some very good, others couldn’t relate concepts to players.

They literally walk 7 guys up at least 4-5 times every week.
Just bc the QB throws a quick screen that gets blown up just to “get the ball out” doesn’t mean they aren’t blitzing.
Also Georgia was leaving 6 or 7 players in the protection.
Rushing 6 and having it get picked up doesn’t do you any good. Big difference between blitzing an Empty set compared to a TE and RB staying in to protect.
Bama had 9 sacks in the previous 2 games.
Is that understandable or too much “salad” to comprehend?
