I’ll be honest. If you aren’t a long time suffering basketball gump, you shouldn’t post this. There are some of us who have suffered, but can see similarities. We hope to be proven wrong. We are most likely damaged beyond repair

We had three losses worse than this years before SEC play last year. Lots of basketball to be played. Calm tf down.

You’ve been saying this since Grant. I’m pretty sure it’s fair to say that folks can panic and it’s damn sure fair to say for flks to calm TF down

What a bunch of BS. I’ve been a bball coach for over 25 years myself. Don’t tell me what I do or don’t do dude. I’ve been watching Alabama Bball for over 40 years. Borderline my favorite, even over Bama football.

I was there last night. Were you? The team has not been ready to play defensively. That is on the coach.

Nothing wrong with criticism if warranted. No one is panicking but some things need to be fixed. Man up and don’t make excuses - it will make him and the team better.

I love the basketball melts in here - this team would definitely have 5 losses, more likely 6, in most bama basketball years.

Bama isn't goin to turn into an elite, consistent team in the blink of an eye. Just have to keep improving year over year.

ETA: Also stop talking shite on the rant about bama basketball early if you are going to be embarrassed when we end up doing bama basketball things.

I’ve been saying we need a couple of 3-shooting whiteys for years.

We lost because we couldn't stay in front of a bunch of smart unathletic basketball guys.

IQ matters.

Wait. Bama lost? Really?

There is absolutely no reason why this team - with this talent - should have 3 losses. And lose tonight?

Oats is doing a shitty job. No ifs, ands, or buts about it.

Excuse me if your original post made it look like you weren't watching the game.

My issue isn't with criticism, it's with overreaction. Saying Oats has done a shitty job by losing three games with this non-conference schedule is a full-blown stage 4 overreaction. Especially when we beat two top 5 caliber teams in back-to-back contests in that stretch. Saying that he has things to figure out defensively is fair and completely understandable. I've said this on many occasions including many times in this thread.

If this was your tipping point for bama hoops, then you must not have been watching for the past 15 years.

Well UAB fan, if we packed our pre-conference schedule with not even Division 1 teams like Milsaps and Rhodes and half the SWAC, we would not have three losses. You did play a good team in West Virginia, 45 in the NET this morning - just behind Davidson at 44. Alabama has one of the toughest schedules in the country, #16 in the kenpom, as opposed to UAB's #213 strength of schedule. I have 2 degrees from Alabama and 1 from UAB, children graduated from both. I wish the best for both schools. Wish Bama could have played UAB tonight. But I will not go to UAB's game tonight because playing Miss Valley St is not worth the time or money to go. And really almost no teams in Conference USA are worth the price of a ticket.

I'll flip the question around - lets name some of the recent years bama has had a better early season run heading into conference play?

If you don't watch Bama basketball and are already melting, you're a total lightweight.

You're the reason it sucks to be an Alabama basketball fan.

The fact that you think it sucks to be a Bama basketball fan because of what some anonymous fan posts on a message board is pretty damn comical.

I watch a lot of Bama basketball, but I had never heard of Davidson till we scheduled them last week. I don't even know where that school is.

Davidson, in charlotte suburb, has had a great basketball program for many years. Bob McKillop is one of America's great coaches. You cannot have followed basketball much at all never to have heard of Davidson. They have been in the NCAA tournament more than Alabama since 2000. Have you heard of Steph Curry, NBA MVP? Have you heard of Gonzaga? Villanova? UConn? Lots of non-football schools have been good in basketball - including your UAB Blazers.

Basketball fans understand that this is not football. Yes we want to win every game but in this game and in this era, that is not happening. The teams that are around in March learn and grow. Teams learn what works and how to defend others. As long as we are playing hard and willing to work on weaknesses, we will be fine. We have a very good coach and a good, maybe very good group of players. Let’s see how the first half of the SEC goes before we get too worked up.
