Barmore should be an every down lineman. Should be a priority.

Saban is wrong and is misusing him. He has a history of poor personnel decisions so it isn't surprising. Barmore is our most explosive and disruptive lineman and it isn't close. We have just made excuses for the decision not to play him more. We have true freshmen getting more playing time than him so if they can know their assignment there is no reason Barmore can't be ready too.

Last night he broke through a double team and flushed the quarterback, the quarterback takes off and Barmore chased him down from behind and abused him with a vicious tackle. He was quite a few yards away when he turned to chase him too.

He is big enough to play the run and quicker than a couple of our linebackers. We have to get him ready to play every down with whatever it takes. Should be our biggest priority on defense and it disappoints me that the staff has been fine with riding pine most snaps.

It's probably because for the most part he's either good for a nice play or a 15 yard penalty on 3rd and long to extend opponent drives

I think the DL is in a place that everyone’s starting job is up for grabs.

No alphas. Biggest disappointment of the team so far.

15 yard penalty

Do we really expect that he would get flagged multiple times per game for 15 yards? Can our staff not coach the dumb stuff out of him? Is he not good enough to be worth one 15 yard penalty per game? Sorry but it's a problem that our staff either won't start him or can't get him ready for more snaps. Barmore has got to play more and the staff has got to do whatever it takes to get him ready. Period.

I gotta be honest with you, you don't have to go there. I am not bashing the staff, just stating what looks obvious to the casual fan in the stands. The player on the sideline and field also really around Barmore's energy and enthusiasm.

It isn't unreasonable to discuss this topic as adult fans. I obviously don't see practice but I know Barmore destroyed our OL last year as a scout team guy per several first hand reports. I won't run this topic into the ground like I did the quarterback situation in 2017 but I am not out of bounds bringing it up.

No offense but I have better things to do than engage with the Eeyore of the bama board. If I notice it's you commenting I simply don't read it anymore

Well your replies in this thread prove you a liar. Whatever though. No hard feelings my brother. I would be more than glad to not interact with you in the future. I am sorry you feel that way as I have made a big effort not to be the board pessimist this year. Roll Tide to you man.

I really don't want to go down the rabbit hole of playing less talented players over more talented players. 2017 alone their were multiple cases of the wrong guy starting.

Anyway, this thread is about Barmore and why he needs to be on the field more. Some of you may disagree and that's fine.

Yes barmore is a beast and makes plays every game but what you don't see are the missed assignments. If you watch film he has quite a few of them. Love the kid tho

Seriously, tell me how much "film" you or any of you have watched. Most of you don't even understand what his assignment is. You just regurgitated the same excuse fans are making for his not playing more because it sounds better than saying staff isn't playing the best players. Saban is the goat college football coach but he has his faults like anybody else does. Some folks are so afraid to admit that he made a bad decision and will always defend every decision he made to their grave. The only fact I see is that Barmore is the most explosive player we have on defense and needs to play more. It's not like the true freshmen playing in front of him aren't missing assignments. Play this man.

You say that as those 3 are outstanding....take off your crimson glasses....all three are average to good but none are elite. #24 is elite when he plays

I agree Barmore is the best interior DL we have. But, whose playing time would Barmore take? Raekwon? Saban won't sit a senior unless it's an injury. I predict next season Barmore will be another Quinnen. One and done.

I am surprised the ref didn't flag #58 for the hit on the QB going out of bounds....he looked like he wanted to reach for the flag...that was great effort by #58. Truth is there is a real talent decline on defense from A to Z.

Dale is our starting NG and Barmore is a NG in a 3 4 D. IF we played a true 4 3 D he would be one of the tackles. NS admitted they have been preparing him for that 3rd down play when it is long yardage. I assume his roll will increase over time. But I don't see him starting over Dale. So back to my question who do you want him to play ahead of in our base 3 4

I’d start him over Davis n a heartbeat because for the 2nd year in a row, he’s a major disappointment. We need alphas and leaders on the D like never before. As a talented senior, he should be leading the charge. Instead, he’s mostly MIA.

but Barmore is a true NG not a DE in a 3 4. But I do agree he should be playing more.

Other much much more knowledgeable posters such as Flesh, Boz, Saint, etc. haven't been able to coach the dumb stuff oùt of you and I've been reading your "insights" for almost 10 years now.

CNS has "...a history of poor personnel decisions"?? Really? Where'd you coach again? And how many players have you helped make it to the NFL? How many National Championship trophies do you have in your trophy case?

Eta: I do agree Barrmore is fun to watch and a beast and should play more.
