The write up on the Track and Field team:

Alabama Men Take Seventh, Women 16th at 2021 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships

The Alabama men and women used strong showings on the final day of the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships, including a pair of silver medals, to race up the team standings at the Randal Tyson Track Center in Fayetteville, Ark. Saturday.

The Alabama men finished in seventh place with 22 points, led by a silver-medal finish in the mile by freshman distance ace Eliud Kipsang. Other Saturday scorers for the Crimson Tide included Christian Edwards (triple jump) and Champion Allison (400-meters). Jake Spotswood scored for the Tide in the heptathlon on Friday while Bobby Colantonio Jr. got the Tide started by scoring in the weight throw on Thursday.

Tamara Clark used a pair of career-best times to push the Crimson Tide women into the top 20 in the team standings. She earned a silver medal in the 200-meters and posted a fourth-place finish in the 60-meters within an hour of each other on Saturday to tally 13 team points and secure 16th place.

Alabama on the National Stage (Indoors)
Alabama's men finish seventh with 22 points at the 2021 NCAA Indoor Championships, marking the Tide's fourth top-10 finish in a row and highest finish since taking sixth in 2014

It was UA's 11th top-10 indoor finish overall and its longest streak of top-10 finishes in school history

The Crimson Tide women finished 16th with 13 points and have now finished in the top-20 six times since 2013

Overall, Saturday's finish marked the UA women's 20th top-20 finish since women's athletics came under the NCAA's auspices in 1982

SEC Sports (taken mostly from UA’s press release)

Mercy Chelangat wins NCAA Cross Country Championship

quote:

Head Coach Dan Waters Said

"We're just so proud of this team and what they accomplished out there today. This was a tough, tough course and the competition was fierce, but we put it all out there and got it done. What an incredible race by Mercy and Amaris, leading us all the way through. They are the top finishers in our history at this meet and Mercy is not only our first NCAA Cross Country Champion, but she just the second in SEC history, which a big deal. I can't say enough about these ladies, our staff and everyone who helped us get to this point, it's just so exciting for the Crimson Tide. Like Coach (Nate) Oats said yesterday, this is a championship school."
