Scouting Alabama

· This weekend marks the fourth event of the spring for Alabama and its first since competing in a dual meet against Tennessee in Oak Ridge, Tenn., on Saturday, March 20.

· The Crimson Tide is ranked No. 8 in the latest Division I Pocock CRCA Rankings, matching its highest mark of the season

· Head Coach Glenn Putyrae is in his third season at the helm of the Crimson Tide, leading the team to a program-best second place finish at the Big 12 Championships in his first season in 2019, earning Big 12 Coach of the Year honors

Last time out: Alabama vs. Tennessee

Alabama won three of its four races against Tennessee on Melton Hill Lake in Oak Ridge, Tenn., on Saturday, March 20. The race was originally scheduled to take place in Tuscaloosa before storms caused unsafe conditions on the Black Warrior River and forced a late venue change.

Alabama opened the day with a win in the First Varsity 8+, crossing the line in 6:25.6 while Tennessee followed about four seconds later in 6:29.4.

The Crimson Tide and Lady Vols were neck-and-neck in the Second Varsity 8+, posting a photo finish with Alabama ultimately edging out Tennessee by half a second, winning in 6:35.0.

The Lady Vols earned a narrow win in the First Varsity 4+, finishing in 7:21.9 ahead of the Tide in 7:23.7.

In the final race of the day, Alabama earned a convincing seven-second win in the Second Varsity 4+, crossing in 7:33.5 ahead of Tennessee at 7:40.8.

Not sure and haven’t talked with anyone yet who knows (or claims to know). She’s finishing her degree. She’s been at Bama four years. The top two scorers are gone (and Ariyah was #3 scorer). I guessed (at the time) that she wanted to go somewhere with a chance to win big. I was caught off guard when she transferred to LSU yesterday.

Would also like to point out the son of former Bama assistant/associate head coach, and current Louisville coach, Arthur Albiero won the 200 butterfly and finished 2nd in the 100 fly. Given their age, Nicolas may have been born in T-town... definitely was a young kid here for 4-5 years.
