Glad I missed this shite show this evening, I agree with a lot of what has been said. Murphy has coasted off his championship 11 years ago (can't believe its been that long)

Meanwhile teams continuously pass us up

All we need is a hitting coach!...WTF!!! Recruit big, strong, athletic players! You can't make chicken salad out of chicken shite!

No, but you can take filet mignon and grind it into hamburger meat. Murphy has recruited top notch talent but almost every one of them has either regressed as a hitter or transferred out. And the number of transfers the last couple of seasons should raise some eyebrows somewhere.

Here's an instate coach I think could take Alabama to new heights and that's...AJ Daugherty at UAB

Only a matter of time before they start winning consistently.

A Stanford OFer didn't have to take a step backward to catch a fly ball all day long. The Stanford infielders had more fly ball put-outs than their OFers.
Anybody can see the difference in the overall quality of the Tide team in comparison to the top-tier clubs!
That shouldn't happen with Alabama's tradition and facilities!

We talked this earlier. You think Greg is going to fire a coach who went to OKC with his main pitcher not 100%. Optics would be bad. Plus Murph has a lot of supprt from boosters and former players. I doubt we see a change of any kind

The question should be why do we continually ride one horse when other top programs have at least 2 aces on staff and some more than that. All of their offensive production comes from like 2 players in a good year. They can’t hit the ball. If the boosters are satisfied, ok but he’ll never win another championship with what’s been on the field the last 10 years. I’ll lay off baseball for now….smh.

The number one thing Tennessee has is good coaching.

Their coach has been there three fewer years than Murphy and has a fraction of his resume. This is their WCWS trip since 2015 and their win over us was their first WCWS win since 2013. Murphy as gotten stale but JFC he's still better than that.

I'll chime in on this...

We aren't living in the past anymore. Patrick Murphy has a phenomenal resume I get that but he's not creative nor innovative which is why he's currently STRUGGLING right now.

Name ONE girl who improved under Murphy as of late?? This is where the problem is with Murphy!

Four time all American with an injured leg pitching her heart out and she gets zero run support. Just awful. We need a hitting coach.

Joka, I just want Byrne to make him go OUTSIDE the program to get a hitting coach. Did you hear after the game Murphy said he was making a hitting coach hire from within the program?

Murphy is like a lot of successful coaches that fade from glory: they don't evolve with the game. It's what makes Saban the GOAT. He saw he couldn't play smash mouth make their arse quit football for 4 quarters anymore and he opened up the offense. Now he realizes it went too far and softened the team so he has swung back toward more run, play action, and smash mouth 4th quarter. And he has evolved with 2 signing days, the portal, and NIL, and soon, more teams and a 9 game schedule but he remains a contender every year.

Murphy is still trying to use the same template from 11 years ago when there were maybe a dozen real contenders every year and it would work: one bellcow pitcher, good defense, and manufacture a couple of runs. Now there are probably 25-30 contenders every year, you'd better have more than one ace and great teams can knock the cover off the ball. You can't ride one pitcher, play small ball, and expect to be in contention. The ONLY reason they made OKC this year was legendary Montana Fouts and she ain't suiting up anymore. What now? I really fear we are looking at a tipping point in Alabama softball and next season will be ugly by our standards. I just hope Murphy isn't allowed to run the program entirely into the ground.

Props where they are due: Murphy built it from nothing into a machine. But now he's dismantling it, piece by piece.

I hope and pray he goes outside the program to hire a HITTING COACH because if he doesn't he'll put Alabama in a hole for years to come. If he hire the young lady already on staff...I'm a just laugh all next season.

Greg Byrne needs to pay close attention to the softball program because if we see a mass exodus of players then... Patrick Murphy needs to go.

I'll add to this...Nick Saban only issue was hiring a couple of duds (the hires made us soft)... meaning some crucial hires didn't pan out. I think he's a defensive lineman coach away from being a dominant team again on that side of the ball. Murphy's issue is different...he doesn't change at all. He's super predictable and he doesn't develop a SOUL. He used to have a legit shortstop and second baseman every single season but now we've fallen off in that department.

I'm a put this out there as well...if Clint Myers was still at Auburn... Patrick Murphy would've already been replaced by now. THAT'S FACTS.

Naive question for y’all if someone feels like answering

I don’t know much about softball. Watch Bama when I can and watch the WCWS but that’s about it. How has Oklahoma built this dynasty? I didn’t think there were big resource gaps when it came to the top programs so is it just better coaching? Or am I an idiot and it’s more complicated?

Oklahoma is the softball version of Nick Saban’s Alabama: kicking arse and taking names year in and year out and they are only getting better. Who do you think Bama beat 11 years ago to win our only natty? And look now, Bama goes 0-2 and is the first to leave OKC while Oklahoma just mauled Tennessee with a mercy rule win, set a program record for single season shutouts at 34 and a D1 record 50th straight win on their way to a three-peat. Everyone else is just playing for 2nd place.

There girls are just built different. I dont think Bama has a weight training and conditioning program. If so, it does not appear to be at the same level as OK. We lose a lot of players who go elsewhere and put up good if not great numbers. It would not surprise me if a couple of our freshman starters left for greener pastures.

I'll add this as well...

Oklahoma has DEVELOPED talent and evolved as well. They aren't stuck in the early 2000's like Murphy has Alabama.

We have the resources but we don't have the COACH anymore to DEVELOP all this talent. It was painful hearing Kayla Braud commentating about Alabama softball because she knew that they weren't good enough at the plate.

We need multiple pitchers and a staff overhaul. Starting with the head coach.

Some people in the thread “next year will be the end for Murphy since we dont have an ace”

A few days later he has an ace. Let Murph cook.
