Trailing by two in the seventh inning, Alabama brought the potential go-ahead run to the plate but Georgia ultimately held on to secure the 4-2 win and take Friday's series opener.
Alabama (21-4, 1-3 SEC) got on the board first with a second-inning solo home run from Kenleigh Cahalan and led until Georgia (22-3, 1-0 SEC) hit a three-run home run with two outs in the fourth to move in front, 3-1. Kali Heivilin made it a one-run game in the next half-inning, banging a solo homer off the foul pole in right but the Bulldogs stretched back ahead by two in the home half of the fifth with an RBI single. Trailing by two in the top of the seventh, Jenna Johnson poked a one-out single into right field and Heivilin followed with a hit-by-pitch, putting the potential tying run on base. A pair of strikeouts got Georgia out of the jam and gave the home team the win.

We will be lucky to win more than 15 games in the SEC.4-1 right now. Beavers should be ready for tomorrow

Byrne has gotta make a change. But I really don’t know if he cares tbh. Softball isn’t a money maker and Murphy gets us into the postseason every year.
But he has gotta go. The program has been on a gradual decline for a while now and he refuses to do something about the hitting

He did something. He hired two people, neither of which was a high quality hitting coach. Today's run rule loss was same ole, same ole with the poor hitting and the pitching simply collapsed. The only chance we have against most SEC teams is Beavers and we can't count on her getting enough hitting support to win.

This team has a very long way to go if this is going to be the case this season.

Alabama dropped its second game of the weekend Saturday afternoon as Georgia clinched the three-game series with an 11-3 win in five innings.
Alabama (21-5, 1-4 SEC) fell behind early after a pair of Georgia (23-3, 2-0 SEC) home runs in the first and second innings quickly made it 6-0. The Crimson Tide got one back with an RBI double from Kenleigh Cahalan in the top of the fourth that was lost in the sun before the Bulldogs tacked on another pair in the next half-inning to make it 8-1. With the bases loaded and one out in the top of the fifth, the sun aided Alabama with another hit, a two-run single from Abby Duchscherer to make it 8-3. Needing three more runs for a run-rule victory in the bottom of the fifth, a solo home run and two-run single ended the game early for the Bulldogs to take the game, 11-3, and the weekend series.
