2021 SEC Football Power Rankings: Post-SEC Championship Game

With Alabama dominating Georgia in the SEC Championship Game, there is a new No. 1 in this week's Power Rankings.
quote:

With the victory, not only did the Crimson Tide finish the night as the undisputed champion of the conference, but Young also all but guaranteed himself to be the first quarterback in Alabama program history to win the Heisman Trophy.

In short, it was a good day to be an Alabama fan.

For obvious reasons, the Crimson Tide moves up to No. 1 in the SEC Power Rankings. Georgia is still the second-best team in the season and will have at least one more chance to prove itself in the upcoming College Football Playoff. While it is unlikely that Alabama and Georgia will face each other in the CFP semifinals, the likelihood of a rematch in the CFP National Championship could be a way for both teams to settle their score one final time.

Saban mentioned that there were a couple guys dealing with stuff. I believe Dallas Turner may be one. Would hate to lose him.
I think he got a concussion. It took me a couple weeks to get over one. Not sure how long he would be held out if that is the case.

Could not be happier to be so wrong.. Wrong on both FB and BB. Looks like I need to have a little/lot more faith.

Great game team.

Hate it for Metchie. Somebody will need to step up big time.

Alabama to Play Cincinnati in College Football Playoff Semifinal

The top-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide will face off with the No. 4 Cincinnati Bearcats in the College Football Playoff Semifinal at the Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic on Friday, Dec. 31, 2021 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

The Crimson Tide and Bearcats will meet for the sixth time in the history of the series that dates back to 1908. Alabama has won all five previous meetings, the last of which was played on Nov. 17, 1990 (45-7).

The winner of the Semifinal between Alabama and Cincinnati will meet the winner of the contest between the No. 2 Michigan Wolverines and the No. 3 Georgia Bulldogs, who will play in the CFP Semifinal Game at the Capital One Orange Bowl at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Fla, on Friday, Dec. 31, 2021. The 2022 CFP National Championship Game is scheduled for Monday, Jan. 10 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.

Head coach Nick Saban is 14-5 in postseason games at Alabama, earning wins over Ohio State (2021 CFP National Championship Game), Notre Dame (2021 CFP Semifinal Game at the Rose Bowl), Michigan (2019 Citrus Bowl), Oklahoma (2018 CFP Semifinal Game at the Orange Bowl), Georgia (2018 CFP National Championship Game), Clemson (2017 CFP Semifinal at the Allstate Sugar Bowl and the 2016 CFP National Championship Game), Washington (2016 CFP Semifinal Game at the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl), Michigan State (2015 CFP Semifinal Game at the Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic).

Prior to the CFP, the Tide defeated the Fighting Irish (2013 BCS National Championship Game at the Orange Bowl), LSU (2012 BCS National Championship Game at the Allstate Sugar Bowl), Michigan State (2011 Capital One Bowl), Texas (2010 BCS National Championship Game at the Rose Bowl) and Colorado (2007 Independence Bowl).

Alabama Football Tidings ~ SEC Champs!!!
Hellams played great today!

He was tremendous. To me he made the play of the game when he dislodged the ball from 19 in the back of the endzone late 3rd quarter. Two more that stood out (not necessarily the stat sheet). Both named Brian.
Brian Branch was in the middle of everything. Even the PI he committed was a great play because it saved a td. Not sure what's wrong with 13, but Branch is handling business.
Brian Robinson has the heart of a lion. Not only did he run as hard as he always does on one leg. He was clearly playing through pain all night. But go back back and watch this kid flat out stone dudes in pass pro over and over again. That was a masterclass in rb blitz pick up.

There’s some smoke on Twitter that Chris Allen may be back for the playoffs.
