Ford's ankle still may not be 100% by Saturday. Might have to be Townsend or K-Rob trying to pick up blitzes to protect Tua. Not exactly "a no big deal" situation.

Report: 2 more Alabama players to be suspended for 1st half against Duke
SDS Staff |
quote:

In addition to running backs Brian Robinson and Najee Harris, wide receiver DeVonta Smith and linebacker Terrell Lewis will serve a suspension in the first half against Duke, per BamaInsider.com.

Robinson and Harris are the Tide’s top two backs. Smith is one of the Tide’s best wide receivers, and Lewis is one of the team’s top defenders. The four players missed a team function earlier during fall camp, per reports.Missing Smith isn’t as big as missing Lewis. Alabama has a plethora of wide receivers outside of Smith. He caught 42 passes for 693 yards and six touchdowns.

Lewis, however, is a key cog in the Tide’s pass rush and looks primed for a big season. He missed all of last year due to an ACL injury and is listed as the team’s starting SAM linebacker.

Alabama and Duke kickoff Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET from Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

I really like our young RB’s. If it’s an issue the plays will be run away from Tua. I have faith in our young guys.

LINK ]Report: 4 Alabama players suspended for 1st half against Duke (update) SDS Staff |

Update: In addition to Najee Harris and Brian Robinson, receiver DeVonta Smith and linebacker Terrell Lewis are also suspended for first half, per BamaInsider.
quote:

Alabama’s top two running backs will be suspended for the first half of the Duke game, according to a report by AL.com’s Joseph Goodman.

Najee Harris and Brian Robinson will sit the first half of Alabama’s opener against the Blue Devils for missing a team function, per the report.

Due to an injury to top freshman Trey Sanders, Alabama’s running back depth is hurting entering the opener. Add in the suspensions of Harris and Robinson, it’ll be even thinner to start in the first half.

Now, redshirt freshman Jerome Ford, true freshman Keilan Robinson and redshirt sophomore Chadarius Townsend will take center stage in the first half.

Harris has rushed for 1,153 yards and seven touchdowns, while Robinson has rushed for 437 yards and four touchdowns. Both Harris and Robinson have had strong fall camps.

Remember when watching one of the ESPN specials on Bama and Saban lecturing the players about doing things the right way... so when the draft comes, they don't get hit with the Yeah, But's. Teams are looking for reasons not to draft you. He did this, yeah, but he also blew off meetings!!! He accomplished this, Yeah, But his coaches say he was never on time or skipped classes. They should take the time to focus on doing everything the correct way and protect their futures.

Hope this doesn't give these guys a bad case of the Yeah, But's

Najee looks like he might not be ready to play at all on Saturday. Terrell and Brian seem like good dudes.

Najee is like really coach lol. Najee from my understanding isn’t really a supreme leader on the team. Good player but not your main team leader.

Boz is Najee really happy at Alabama? Right from the start he seems to be a square peg in a round hole. It could be his personality and demeanor. He is from my neck of the woods so I am just curious. Only time I have seen him to be enjoying himself is that Bama Cuts video. But you would know better.

LINK ]Alabama LB Dylan Moses expected to miss season with injury (BamaOnLine)
quote:

Alabama junior linebacker Dylan Moses suffered a severe injury just before the season.

A preseason All-American, Moses sustained a severe knee injury during Tuesday’s practice session and is expected to miss the upcoming 2019 college football season, BamaOnLine has confirmed.

Alabama’s starting Will linebacker in its base and nickel defenses last season, Moses recorded a team-high 86 tackles, including 10 tackles for loss (-41 yards) and 3.5 sacks (-29 yards), while adding one pass breakup, one forced fumble and one quarterback pressure to his sophomore totals.

Moses earned second-team All-America recognition from the Walter Camp Football Foundation and was selected as an All-SEC second-team honoree by the league coaches. He was also one of the finalists for the Butkus Award, presented annually to the nation’s top linebacker. Entering his junior year, he was set to take over as the Tide’s defensive signal-caller at Mike linebacker.

This news means Alabama has lost its two most-experienced inside linebackers. Redshirt senior Joshua McMillon suffered a knee injury during the team’s first preseason scrimmage and is out indefinitely. Also out indefinitely is freshman running back and former 5-star Trey Sanders (foot).

True freshman Christian Harris is expected to start at Will linebacker in the season opener, but with Moses’ injury, the Crimson Tide could start two true freshmen in the middle of its defense as Shane Lee has consistently played with the second-team defense. Other names to watch at inside ‘backer are redshirt sophomore Markail Benton and sophomores Jaylen Moody and Ale Kaho.

Alabama will kick off the 2019 season on Saturday, Aug. 31, against Duke in Atlanta.
