You are correct, he says the same thing every week about opponents doing things they weren't prepared for. Whether it's New Mexico state or Arkansas etc.

Naw, that is Jeremy Pruitts ILB that won those awards. All these recruiting titles, and Saban jumped at the chance to get an ILB that had been coached by Pruitt to make the calls for his defense because Frodo has yet to develop one single ILB that has any idea what he's doing much less telling anyone else where to be on any given play. (think about that- Pruitt had developed an ILB that stepped in, and not only started ahead of every ILB we had developed, but after one camp was calling the entire defense. SMH)
#8 meanwhile has been with Frodo his entire time here, and he is what you can expect of a Frodo coached ILB after years of development- lost AF. He might as well start doing cartwheels when the ball is snapped- he'd probably end up in the right spot more often.
3 downvotes.. can any of you three provide a rebuttal?
Name one that has gotten better. 4 years is a large enough sample size. Mack Wilson.. 1st round mock, to 5th round draft pick. Dylan Moses.. see above. Shane Lee.. 0 meaningful snaps after thrust into a starting job freshman year. Christian Harris.. has played himself out of a lot of money this year; confused every other snap. TooToo.. all sec freshman at Tennessee, draft eligible this year, i would bet he doesn’t go in the first round - and I’ll put my kids up as collateral.
Point being, Golding has coached UP exactly 0.00 linebackers in 4 years. This experiment should be finished.
/rant. TL;DR: Golding sucks arse at coaching ILBs (aka the guys that run saban’s defense). It’s painfully obvious, and we won’t have a GREAT defense again until he’s gone. For those of you that don’t want to hear it - 1) Open your eyes, 2) grow a pair and learn what accountability means. 3) frick you.
Happy Thanksgiving Tiders

He's put up better stats this season than he did last season.
2020: 76 tackles, 47 solo, 29 assisted, 1 sack
2021: 84 tackles, 35 solo, 49 assisted, 4 sacks

I'm sure that has nothing to do with playing in front of Will Anderson, Mathis, etc.
Imagine if he had a good position coach and defensive coordinator!?

Honestly that fits with the narrative that our defense is too complex for modern football. It’s hard to adjust on the fly it seems.
The only other DC in the country who is constantly signaling and adjusting just before the snap is Venables, and that only works because Clemson steals signs and knows exactly what's coming.

Too bad alternate timelines do not exist. I have my issues with Golding but this is not about him. This is about the poster who believes To'oTo'o has underachieved compared to what he did at Tennessee. He currently leads the team in tackles and is eighth in the conference in tackles.

Nice deflect but that conversation you interjected in was mainly about Frodo (Golding) being at beet sub-par.
I'm just imagining how good this defense could have been if we had someone who is actually really good at developing ILB and calling plays.

I wonder if half of the plays Bama ran against the opposition had never been seen before?

I wonder if it's a DC's job to decipher what the offense is doing and find a legitimate way to stop it not continually put out bad or sub-par performances with the excuse "but but we didn't see that Nick!"

Perhaps I should have said Offensive plays
Can Bama run defenses or offensive plays that we've never run vs teams on GameDay or is the just something the other teams get to do.
Sam Pittman.... " I will add that at least 50% of the plays Bama ran against us we've never seen them run before"

I’d that his numbers look better for a few reasons
1. Not sure of snaps played comparison but he only played 10 games last season total. He’s played 11 so far. Averages aren’t that much different at all it seems.
2. He’s playing with a much better surrounding cast (talent wise at least) this season
3. His total went up because his assists went up. His solos are actually down despite playing one additional game. In my general analysis of his play (aka watching every game this season), he has struggled with solo tackles and regularly needs helps bringing someone down. Buddy whiffs it takes a poor approach on multiple tackles a game it seems, primarily due to over pursuit or bad angles.

Perhaps, you should focus on the side of the ball that is giving up so many points we have to score every possession to keep a game comfortable?
Nah, you will continue to ignore that defense and deflect for your boyfriend Golding

Proud grandfather moment. I was downtown Montgomery when the team arrived at the renaissance. When all the team unloaded and went into the hotel, Ms. Terry and Greg Byrne walked by and walked up to my 5 year old granddaughter (wearing her Bama cheerleader outfit) and stopped and said Roll Tide to her and gave her a fist pump. She was excited when I told her that was Coach Saban’s wife and she screamed Roll Tide beat auburn. Amazing what 5 year olds know. Roll Tide tomorrow my friends.

Am I the only one who finds this disturbing? The leading tackler on the Bama team is 8th in the SEC... is this real? it must mean that the top tacklers on Bama's team are well spread out and well...

That's a weird statistical hill to die on.

If you've actually watched the games and seen how many tackled Henry has missed it is not.
