Nick Saban to LeBron James: Alabama barbershop show will continue (al.com)
quote:
Nick Saban isn't backing down to LeBron James. A few days after Alabama received a letter concerning copyright claims and the Crimson Tide's new "Shop Talk" web series, the football coach struck a defiant tone.

Video: Saban reacts to LeBron's letter
"I don't have a reaction to it," said in response to a question about the letter that claimed Alabama infringed on the trademark and copyright of a similar series involving the Cleveland Cavaliers star. "I think LeBron James is a great player."
James has a series called "The Shop" that has a similar casual feel as Alabama's "Shop Talk." The first episode of the Tide version was released Wednesday with a promise of new shows every Wednesday.
Saban didn't sound concerned with any potential legal action coming from James or his multimedia platform UNINTERRUPTED.
"There's been at least 20 barbershop-type things I've seen on TV. I didn't know anybody owned that. I didn't know he had one. I'm sorry that anybody could offended by something that we were just having fun with. I enjoyed it. And we're going to continue to do it."
The first episode of "Shop Talk" featured former stars Julio Jones, Ryan Anderson and Eddie Jackson. They were joined midway through by Saban. They chatted about topics of the day in the new barber shop constructed in Alabama's football facility.

LeBron responded to Saban LINK
Why is he being such a b*tch?
quote:
"I respect him as a coach," James said, "but I'll be damned if I allow someone to use our platform or try to do the same thing we're doing and just think it's OK. "The lawyers will figure it out."

He’ll lose the case and come out looking like even more of a fool in the end. He’s only hurting himself

Lebron is recruiting high school kids to play football at the University of Alabama?
I think what he hates about it is there is a white man that young African American kids admire, look up to, and love, and that same white man does more for African American kids than he ever will.
Lebron wouldn’t make through spring practice under Saban, because you gotta be mentally tough, not just physically gifted.

You don't have to like Lebron or agree with his political statements, but Lebron's community outreach is some of the most impressive in all of athletics.
Just look up Lebron's "I Promise" program that he dropped $41mil to fund full ride scholarships to kids who fulfill the "promise" in Akron, OH. Or the amount of time/effort he puts into his charities
Nick Saban may be ultra charitable, I have no idea, but Lebron James is in the upper echelon of all-time charitable athletic figures

I'm a #JordanIsGOAT guy, but this is absurd. Being a physically gifted athlete doesn't explain Lebron's James incredible skillset or the amount of work he puts in to hold off signs of aging that even great athletes face

I don't care for LeBron James but that is ridiculous

While I agree Lebron is wrong on this one, and he doesn't really have a legal case, let's not get overboard with things like this:
Lebron does quite a bit with Boys and Girls clubs in Ohio and some other charity work. You can disagree with him on this issue, and dislike a lot about him, but you have to also be open-minded enough to recognize he does some good in his community.
This, too, is crazy. Lebron isn't Michael Jordan level of mentally tough, but you have to know that the workouts and practices he goes through to get ready for 82+ games a season would have him prepared for a freaking spring practice man. Come on.

Saban dedicated his entire life to bettering young men, Lebron just throws money in certain neighborhoods. Huge difference.

Ok, he could make it for sure, but he would cry the whole way.

Saban is 66 years old, was never a professional athlete, so he has always been a coach. LeBron is at the peak of his playing career and still has good years left. I doubt LeBron will ever coach professionally because he certainly has nothing else to prove and doesn't need the money.
LeBron is well known for doing a LOT of charity work and good deeds. You are just looking more foolish in this thread.

You’re comparing a cry baby racist to the GOAT college football coach. It’s ridiculous.

OP by CWilken21 on SEC Rant:

If anyone should be suing someone it''s Fox suing LBJ. FS1 has a series called Back Of The Shop, a sports talk show with sports and entertainment stars as the hosts. The show takes place in the Bronx, NY at Jordan Sport Barbershop. After first being aired on May 24, 2014 with David Ortiz, Alfonso Soriano, Iman Shumpert and Larry Johnson as guests, it now airs regularly on Tuesdays at 8:30 p.m. ET on Fox Sports 1.
